¹The wicked flee when no man pursueth: but the righteous are bold as a lion.

¹वाईट लोकांना सगळ्याचीच भीती वाटते. कोणी त्यांचा पाठलाग करत नसले तरी ते दूर पळतात. पण चांगला माणूस सिंहासाखा शूर असतो.

²For the transgression of a land many are the princes thereof: but by a man of understanding and knowledge the state thereof shall be prolonged.

²जर देशाने आज्ञा पाळायला नकार दिला तर तिथले बरेचसे वाईट नेते केवळ थोड्या काळापुरतेच राज्य करु शकतील. पण जर देशाला एकच शहाणा नेता असला तर देश खूप काळापर्यंत राहील.

³A poor man that oppresseth the poor is like a sweeping rain which leaveth no food.

³राजाने जर गरीब लोकांवर संकटे आणली तर तो पीक उद्ध्वस्त करणाऱ्या जोरदार पावसासारखा असतो.

⁴They that forsake the law praise the wicked: but such as keep the law contend with them.

⁴तुम्ही जर कायदा पाळायला नकार दिलात तर तुम्ही वाईट लोकांच्या बाजूचे होत. पण तुम्ही कायदा पाळलात तर तुम्ही त्यांच्या विरुध्द असता.

⁵Evil men understand not judgment: but they that seek the LORD understand all things.

⁵वाईट लोकांना न्याय कळत नाही. पण जे परमेश्वरावर प्रेम करतात त्यांना सर्वकाही कळते.

⁶Better is the poor that walketh in his uprightness, than he that is perverse in his ways, though he be rich.

⁶गरीब असून प्रामाणिक असणे हे श्रीमंत असून वाईट असण्यापेक्षा चांगले असते.

⁷Whoso keepeth the law is a wise son: but he that is a companion of riotous men shameth his father.

⁷जो माणूस कायद्याचे पालन करतो तो हुशार असतो. पण जो माणूस क्षुल्लक माणसांशी मैत्री करतो तो त्याच्या वडिलांना लाज आणतो.

⁸He that by usury and unjust gain increaseth his substance, he shall gather it for him that will pity the poor.

⁸जर तुम्ही गरीबांना फसवून श्रीमंत झालात तर तुम्ही लवकरच संपत्ती गमवाल. जो माणूस त्यांच्याशी दयाळू असतो त्याच्याकडे ती जाईल.

⁹He that turneth away his ear from hearing the law, even his prayer shall be abomination.

⁹जर एखाद्याने देवाच्या शिकवणुकीकडे लक्ष द्यायला नकार दिला तर देव त्याची प्रार्थना ऐकायला नकार देईल.

¹⁰Whoso causeth the righteous to go astray in an evil way, he shall fall himself into his own pit: but the upright shall have good things in possession.

¹⁰वाईट माणूस चांगल्या माणसांना दु:ख देण्याच्या योजना आखतो. परंतु वाईट माणूस त्याच्याच जाळ्यात अडकेल आणि चांगल्या माणसाच्या बाबतीत चांगल्या घटना घडतील.

¹¹The rich man is wise in his own conceit; but the poor that hath understanding searcheth him out.

¹¹श्रीमंत लोकांना नेहमी आपण खूप शहाणे आहोत असे वाटत असते. पण शहाणा असलेला गरीब माणूस खरे काय ते पाहू शकतो.

¹²When righteous men do rejoice, there is great glory: but when the wicked rise, a man is hidden.

¹²चांगले लोक नेते बनले की सर्वजण आनंदी असतात. पण वाईट माणूस निवडून आला की सर्व लपून बसतात.

¹³He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy.

¹³माणसाने जर त्याची पापे लपवायचा प्रयत्न केला तर तो कधीही याशस्वी होणार नाही. पण जर त्याने त्याच्या पापांची कबुली दिली आणि लोकांना सांगितले की त्याचे चुकले तर देव आणि इतर लोक त्याला दया दाखवतील.

¹⁴Happy is the man that feareth alway: but he that hardeneth his heart shall fall into mischief.

¹⁴जर एखाद्याने नेहमी परमेश्वराचा आदर केला तर त्याला आशीर्वाद मिळेल. पण जर तो हट्टी असला आणि त्याने परमेश्वराचा आदर करायला नकार दिला तर त्याच्यावर संकटे येतील.

¹⁵As a roaring lion, and a ranging bear; so is a wicked ruler over the poor people.

¹⁵दुष्ट माणूस जेव्हा दुबळ्या लोकांवर राज्य करतो तेव्हा तो रागावलेल्या सिंहासारखा किंवा अस्वलासारखा लढाईला तयार असतो.

¹⁶The prince that wanteth understanding is also a great oppressor: but he that hateth covetousness shall prolong his days.

¹⁶जर राज्यकर्ता शहाणा नसला तर तो त्याच्या हाताखालच्या लोकांना दु:ख देतो. पण जर राज्यकर्ता प्रामाणिक असला आणि त्याला फसवणे आवडत नसले तर तो खूप काळपर्यंत राज्य करेल.

¹⁷A man that doeth violence to the blood of any person shall flee to the pit; let no man stay him.

¹⁷जर एखाद्याने कुणाला ठार मारण्याचा अपराध केला असेल. तर त्याला कधीही मन:शांती लाभणार नाही. त्या माणसाला कधीही आधार देऊ नका.

¹⁸Whoso walketh uprightly shall be saved: but he that is perverse in his ways shall fall at once.

¹⁸माणूस जर योग्य जीवन जगत असला तर तो सुरक्षित असेल. पण जर तो दुष्ट असेल तर तो त्याची शक्ती घालवून बसेल.

¹⁹He that tilleth his land shall have plenty of bread: but he that followeth after vain persons shall have poverty enough.

¹⁹जो माणूस खूप काम करतो त्याला भरपूर खायला मिळेल. पण जो स्वप्ने बघण्यात वेळ घालवतो तो गरीबच राहील.

²⁰A faithful man shall abound with blessings: but he that maketh haste to be rich shall not be innocent.

²⁰जो देवाची भक्ती करतो त्याला देव आशीर्वाद देईल. पण जो माणूस फक्त श्रीमंत होण्याचा प्रयत्न करतो त्याला शिक्षा होईल.

²¹To have respect of persons is not good: for for a piece of bread that man will transgress.

²¹न्यायाधीशाने नेहमी न्यायी असले पाहिजे. एखाद्याला तो चांगला ओळखतो म्हणून त्याला मदत करता कामा नये. पण काही न्यायाधीश थोड्याशा पैशांसाठी त्यांचे निर्णय बदलतात.

²²He that hasteth to be rich hath an evil eye, and considereth not that poverty shall come upon him.

²²स्वार्थी माणसाला फक्त श्रीमंत व्हायचे असते. त्याला हे कळत नाही की तो गरीब होण्याच्या मार्गाला लागला आहे.

²³He that rebuketh a man afterwards shall find more favour than he that flattereth with the tongue.

²³जर तुम्ही एखाद्याला तो चुकतो आहे असे सांगून मदत केलीत तर तो नंतर तुमच्याबद्दल आनंदी होईल. लोकांबरोबर नेहमी गोडगोड बोलण्यापेक्षा हे खूप चांगले.

²⁴Whoso robbeth his father or his mother, and saith, It is no transgression; the same is the companion of a destroyer.

²⁴काही लोक त्यांच्या आई वडिलांची चोरी करतात. “ह्यात काही चूक नाही” असे ते म्हणतात. पण तो माणूस घरात येऊन सगळ्याचा नाश करणाऱ्या माणसाइतकाच दोषी आहे.

²⁵He that is of a proud heart stirreth up strife: but he that putteth his trust in the LORD shall be made fat.

²⁵स्वार्थी. माणूस संकटे निर्माण करतो. पण जो परमेवरावर विश्वास ठेवतो त्याला बक्षीस मिळते.

²⁶He that trusteth in his own heart is a fool: but whoso walketh wisely, he shall be delivered.

²⁶जर एखादा माणूस स्वत:वरच विश्वास ठेवेल तर तो मूर्ख आहे. पण जर तो शहाणा असेल तर तो संकटातून सुटेल.

²⁷He that giveth unto the poor shall not lack: but he that hideth his eyes shall have many a curse.

²⁷जर एखाद्याने गरीब लोकांना दिले तर त्याच्या सगळ्या गरजा पूर्ण होतील. पण जर एखाद्याने गरीबांना मदत करायला नकार दिला तर त्याच्यावर खूप संकटे येतील.

²⁸When the wicked rise, men hide themselves: but when they perish, the righteous increase.

²⁸दुष्ट माणूस जर राज्य करण्यासाठी निवडून आला तर लोक लपून बसतील. पण त्या दुष्टाचा जर पराभव झाला तर चांगले लोक पुन्हा राज्य करतील.
