1He, that being often reproved hardeneth his neck, shall suddenly be destroyed, and that without remedy.
1जर एखादा माणूस हट्टी असेल आणि प्रत्येक वेळी त्याला ‘तू चुकतो आहेस’ असे कुणी सांगितल्यावर खूप राग येत असेल, तर त्या माणसाचा नाश होईल. तिथे आशेला जागा नाही.
2When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice: but when the wicked beareth rule, the people mourn.
2राज्यकर्ता जर चांगला असेल तर सगळे लोक आनंदी असतात. पण वाईट माणूस राज्य करत असेल तर सगळेजण तक्रार करतात.
3Whoso loveth wisdom rejoiceth his father: but he that keepeth company with harlots spendeth his substance.
3जर एखाद्या माणसाला शहाणपण आवडत असेल तर त्याच्या वडिलांना आनंद वाटतो. पण जर एखादा माणूस वेश्येवर पैसा खर्च करत असेल तर तो त्याची संपत्ती गमावून बसेल.
4The king by judgment establisheth the land: but he that receiveth gifts overthroweth it.
4राजा जर न्यायी असला तर राष्ट्र बलशाली होते. पण राजा स्वार्थी असला आणि लोकांना त्यांच्या गोष्टी करुन घेण्यासाठी त्याला पैसे द्यावे लागत असले तर ते राष्ट्र कमजोर होईल.
5A man that flattereth his neighbour spreadeth a net for his feet.
5जर एखादा माणूस गोड बोलून आपले काम करुन घेण्याचा प्रयत्न करीत असेल तर तो स्वत:साठीच सापळा तयार करीत असतो.
6In the transgression of an evil man there is a snare: but the righteous doth sing and rejoice.
6वाईट लोकांचा त्यांच्याच पापामुळे पराभव होतो पण चांगला माणूस गाणे गाऊन आनंदी राहातो.
7The righteous considereth the cause of the poor: but the wicked regardeth not to know it.
7चांगल्या माणसांना गरीबांसाठी योग्य गोष्टी करायची इच्छा असते पण दुष्ट लोक मात्र पर्वा करीत नाहीत.
8Scornful men bring a city into a snare: but wise men turn away wrath.
8जे लोक स्वत:ला इतर लोकांपेक्षा चांगले समजतात ते संकटे आणू शकतात. ते सगळ्या शहरांना गोंधळात टाकू शकतात. पण जे शहाणे असतात ते शांती राखतात.
9If a wise man contendeth with a foolish man, whether he rage or laugh, there is no rest.
9शहाणा माणूस जर मूर्खाबरोबर त्याच्या समस्या सोडवायला लागला तर तो मूर्ख वाद घालेल व मूर्खासारख्या गोष्टी करेल आणि त्या दोघांचे कधीही एकमत होणार नाही.
10The bloodthirsty hate the upright: but the just seek his soul.
10खुनी लोक नेहमी प्रामाणिक माणसांचा तिरस्कार करतात. त्या दुष्टांना प्रामाणिक आणि चांगल्या लोकांना ठार मारायचे असते.
11A fool uttereth all his mind: but a wise man keepeth it in till afterwards.
11मूर्खाला चटकन् राग येतो पण शहाणा माणूस धीर धरतो आणि स्वत:ला काबूत ठेवतो.
12If a ruler hearken to lies, all his servants are wicked.
12राजाने जर खोट्या गोष्टींवर विश्वास ठेवला तर त्याचे सगळे अधिकारी वाईट ठरतील.
13The poor and the deceitful man meet together: the LORD lighteneth both their eyes.
13गरीब माणूस आणि जो गरीबांची चोरी करतो तो माणूस एका दृष्टीने सारखेच आहेत. त्या दोघांना परमेश्वरानेच केले.
14The king that faithfully judgeth the poor, his throne shall be established for ever.
14राजा जर गरीबांच्या बाबातीत न्यायी असला तर तो खूप काळ राज्य करेल.
15The rod and reproof give wisdom: but a child left to himself bringeth his mother to shame.
15मार आणि शिकवण मुलासाठी चांगली असते. जर आईवडिलांनी मुलांना त्यांना हवे ते करु दिले तर तो त्याच्या आईला लाज आणेल.
16When the wicked are multiplied, transgression increaseth: but the righteous shall see their fall.
16जर देशावर वाईट लोक राज्य करीत असतील, तर सगळीकडे पाप नांदेल पण शेवटी चांगल्या माणसांचा जय होईल.
17Correct thy son, and he shall give thee rest; yea, he shall give delight unto thy soul.
17तुमचा मुलगा जर चुकत असेल तर त्याला शिक्षा करा नंतर तुम्हाला त्याच्याबद्दल गर्व वाटेल. तो तुम्हाला कधीही लाज आणणार नाही.
18Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he.
18जर देवाने देशाला मार्ग दाखवला नाही तर त्या देशात शांतता नांदणार नाही. पण जर देशाने देवाचे कायदे पाळले तर तो सुखी होईल.
19A servant will not be corrected by words: for though he understand he will not answer.
19जर तुम्ही फक्त सेवकाशी बोललात तर तो त्याचा धडा शिकणार नाही. तो सेवक तुमचे शब्द समजू शकेल पण तो ते पाळणार नाही.
20Seest thou a man that is hasty in his words? there is more hope of a fool than of him.
20जर एखादा माणूस विचार न करता बोलत असेल तर त्याच्या बाबतीत आशेला जागा नाही. जो विचार न करता बोलतो त्याच्यापेक्षा मूर्खाच्या बाबतीत आशेला अधिक जागा आहे.
21He that delicately bringeth up his servant from a child shall have him become his son at the length.
21जर तुम्ही तुमच्या सेवकाला तो जे जे मागेल ते ते सर्व दिले तर शेवटी तो चांगला सेवक होणार नाही.
22An angry man stirreth up strife, and a furious man aboundeth in transgression.
22रागावलेला माणूस संकटे आणतो आणि जो माणूस पटकन् रागावतो तो अनेक पापांचा अपराधी असतो.
23A man's pride shall bring him low: but honour shall uphold the humble in spirit.
23माणसाचा गर्व त्याला खाली आणतो. जर एखाद्याला तो इतरापेक्षा चांगला आहे असे वाटत असेल तर त्यामुळे त्याचा नाश होईल. पण जर एखादा माणूस विनम्र असेल तर इतर लोक त्याचा आदर करतील.
24Whoso is partner with a thief hateth his own soul: he heareth cursing, and bewrayeth it not.
24बरोबर काम करणारे दोन चोर एकमेकांचे शत्रू असतात. एक चोर दुसऱ्याला धमकी देईल त्यामुळे जर त्याला जबरदस्तीने कोर्टात खरे बोलावे लागले तर तो बोलायाला खूपच घाबरेल.
25The fear of man bringeth a snare: but whoso putteth his trust in the LORD shall be safe.
25भीती ही सापळ्यासारखी असते. पण जर तुमचा परमेश्वरावर विश्वास असेल तर तुम्ही सुरक्षित असाल.
26Many seek the ruler's favour; but every man's judgment cometh from the LORD.
26खूप लोकांना राज्यकर्त्यांशी मैत्री करायची असते. पण फक्त परमेश्वरच लोकांना योग्य न्याय करतो.
27An unjust man is an abomination to the just: and he that is upright in the way is abomination to the wicked.
27चांगले लोक प्रामाणिक नसलेल्यांचा तिरस्कार करतात. आणि दुष्ट लोक प्रामाणिक असलेल्यांचा तिरस्कार करतात.
