¹Unto thee lift I up mine eyes, O thou that dwellest in the heavens.

¹देवा, मी वर बघून तुझी पार्थना करतो. तू स्वर्गात राजा म्हणून बसतोस.

²Behold, as the eyes of servants look unto the hand of their masters, and as the eyes of a maiden unto the hand of her mistress; so our eyes wait upon the LORD our God, until that he have mercy upon us.

²गुलाम त्यांना लागणाऱ्या वस्तूंसाठी मालकावर अवलंबून असतात.

³Have mercy upon us, O LORD, have mercy upon us: for we are exceedingly filled with contempt.

³त्याच प्रमाणे आपण परमेश्वरावर, आपल्या देवावर अवलंबून असतो. आपल्यावर दया करावी म्हणून आपण देवाची वाट बघतो.

⁴Our soul is exceedingly filled with the scorning of those that are at ease, and with the contempt of the proud.

⁴परमेश्वरा, आमच्याशी दयाळू राहा. खूप काळापासून आमचा अपमान होत आला आहे म्हणून तू दयावंत हो. 5गर्विष्ठ लोकांनी आमचा खूप काळ अपमान केला. ते इतर लोकांपेक्षा चांगले आहेत असे त्यांना वाटते.
