¹Now these be the last words of David. David the son of Jesse said, and the man who was raised up on high, the anointed of the God of Jacob, and the sweet psalmist of Israel, said,

¹ داوود پسر یَسی، مردی که خداوند او را به بزرگی رساند، مردی که خداوندِ یعقوب او را پادشاه کرد، مردی که سرایندهٔ سرودهای خوش برای اسرائیل است. این آخرین کلام اوست.

²The Spirit of the LORD spake by me, and his word was in my tongue.

² «روح خداوند به وسیلهٔ من سخن می‌‌گوید و کلام او از زبان من جاری است.

³The God of Israel said, the Rock of Israel spake to me, He that ruleth over men must be just, ruling in the fear of God.

³ خدای اسرائیل به زبان آمد و نگهبان اسرائیل به من گفت: 'پادشاهی که با عدالت حکمرانی و از خداوند پیروی می‌کند،

⁴And he shall be as the light of the morning, when the sun riseth, even a morning without clouds; as the tender grass springing out of the earth by clear shining after rain.

⁴ مانند نور خورشید در آسمان بی‌ابر می‌درخشد، خورشیدی که نورش بعد از بارندگی، سبزه‌ها را درخشان می‌کند.'

⁵Although my house be not so with God; yet he hath made with me an everlasting covenant, ordered in all things, and sure: for this is all my salvation, and all my desire, although he make it not to grow.

⁵ «آری، بدین‌گونه پروردگار به خاندان من فزونی می‌بخشد، زیرا او پیمانی استوار و جاودان با من بسته است، پیوندی که شکسته نخواهد شد، پیمانی که تغییر نخواهد کرد. تنها خواست من چنین است و آن پیروزی من است که خداوند حتماً آن را ممکن خواهد ساخت.

⁶But the sons of Belial shall be all of them as thorns thrust away, because they cannot be taken with hands:

⁶ امّا مردم بدکار مانند خار هستند که دور انداخته می‌شوند، زیرا به آنها نمی‌توان دست زد.

⁷But the man that shall touch them must be fenced with iron and the staff of a spear; and they shall be utterly burned with fire in the same place.

⁷ اگر کسی بخواهد به آنها دست بزند، باید به وسیله‌ای آهنی یا انبر مجهّز باشد تا آنها را گرفته در آتش بسوزاند.»

⁸These be the names of the mighty men whom David had: The Tachmonite that sat in the seat, chief among the captains; the same was Adino the Eznite: he lift up his spear against eight hundred, whom he slew at one time.

⁸ اینها نامهای سه قهرمانی هستند که در سپاه داوود خدمت کردند. نفر اول آنها یوشیب بشبت تحکمونی که رهبر آن سه نفر بود. او در یک جنگ هشتصد نفر را کشت.

⁹And after him was Eleazar the son of Dodo the Ahohite, one of the three mighty men with David, when they defied the Philistines that were there gathered together to battle, and the men of Israel were gone away:

⁹ نفر دوم العازار، پسر دودو و نوهٔ اخوح بود. او یکی از سه نفری بود که وقتی فلسطینی‌ها برای جنگ جمع شده بودند، همراه داوود برای مقابلهٔ آنها رفت. در آن جنگ همهٔ سربازان اسرائیلی فرار کردند،

¹⁰He arose, and smote the Philistines until his hand was weary, and his hand clave unto the sword: and the LORD wrought a great victory that day; and the people returned after him only to spoil.

¹⁰ ولی او به جنگ ادامه داد و به کشتار فلسطینی‌ها پرداخت تا اینکه دستش خسته شد و شمشیر به دستش چسبید. خداوند در آن روز پیروزی بزرگی نصیب ایشان کرد. بعد کسانی‌که فرار کرده بودند برگشتند و شروع به تاراج و غارت کردند.

¹¹And after him was Shammah the son of Agee the Hararite. And the Philistines were gathered together into a troop, where was a piece of ground full of lentils: and the people fled from the Philistines.

¹¹ نفر سوم شمه پسر آجی هراری بود. هنگامی‌که فلسطینی‌ها در لِحی، آنجا که کشتزار عدس بود گرد آمده بودند، سپاه اسرائیل همگی گریختند،

¹²But he stood in the midst of the ground, and defended it, and slew the Philistines: and the LORD wrought a great victory.

¹² ولی او تنها در میدان برای دفاع ایستاد و فلسطینی‌ها را شکست داد. خداوند آنها را به پیروزی بزرگی نایل گردانید.

¹³And three of the thirty chief went down, and came to David in the harvest time unto the cave of Adullam: and the troop of the Philistines pitched in the valley of Rephaim.

¹³ داوود در غار عدُلام بود و سپاه فلسطینی‌ها در دشت رفائیم اردو زده بودند، سه نفر از سی فرماندهٔ نظامی لشکر اسرائیل، در فصل درو به دیدار او رفتند.

¹⁴And David was then in an hold, and the garrison of the Philistines was then in Bethlehem.

¹⁴ داوود در مکان محفوظی بود و فلسطینی‌ها در بیت‌لحم مستقر بودند.

¹⁵And David longed, and said, Oh that one would give me drink of the water of the well of Bethlehem, which is by the gate!

¹⁵ داوود با شوق و آرزو گفت: «ای کاش کسی بود که برایم کمی آب از چاهی که نزدیک دروازهٔ بیت‌لحم است، می‌آورد.»

¹⁶And the three mighty men brake through the host of the Philistines, and drew water out of the well of Bethlehem, that was by the gate, and took it, and brought it to David: nevertheless he would not drink thereof, but poured it out unto the LORD.

¹⁶ آنگاه آن سه مرد دلاور قلب لشکر دشمن را شکافته از چاه پهلوی دروازهٔ بیت‌لحم آب کشیدند و برای داوود بردند. امّا داوود آب را ننوشید، بلکه آن را برای خداوند ریخت

¹⁷And he said, Be it far from me, O LORD, that I should do this: is not this the blood of the men that went in jeopardy of their lives? therefore he would not drink it. These things did these three mighty men.

¹⁷ و گفت: «خداوندا، غیر ممکن است این را بنوشم. این آب، خون این مردان است که زندگی خود را به‌خاطر آوردن آن به خطر انداختند.» پس داوود آب را ننوشید. این بود کاری که آن سه مرد دلاور کردند.

¹⁸And Abishai, the brother of Joab, the son of Zeruiah, was chief among three. And he lifted up his spear against three hundred, and slew them, and had the name among three.

¹⁸ ابیشای برادر یوآب، پسر صرویه سرکردهٔ آن سی نفر بود. یک‌بار او به تنهایی سیصد نفر از دشمن را کشت و به‌خاطر همین شجاعتش مثل آن سه نفر مشهور شد.

¹⁹Was he not most honorable of three? therefore he was their captain: howbeit he attained not unto the first three.

¹⁹ گرچه او فرماندهی سی نفر از سرداران را به عهده داشت، ولی در شهرت به آن سه نفر نمی‌رسید.

²⁰And Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, the son of a valiant man, of Kabzeel, who had done many acts, he slew two lionlike men of Moab: he went down also and slew a lion in the midst of a pit in time of snow:

²⁰ بنایاهو پسر یهویاداع سرباز مشهور دیگری است که شجاعتهای فراوانی از خود نشان داد. از جمله او دو جنگجوی بزرگ موآبی را کشت و در روز برفی وارد چاهی شد و شیری را کشت.

²¹And he slew an Egyptian, a goodly man: and the Egyptian had a spear in his hand; but he went down to him with a staff, and plucked the spear out of the Egyptian's hand, and slew him with his own spear.

²¹ بار دیگر با یک چوبدستی، به یک نفر پهلوان مصری که مجهّز به نیزه بود حمله کرد. نیزه را از دستش ربود و با نیزهٔ خودش، او را کشت.

²²These things did Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, and had the name among three mighty men.

²² بنایاهو با انجام چنین کارهایی مانند آن سه قهرمان شهرت یافت.

²³He was more honorable than the thirty, but he attained not to the first three. And David set him over his guard.

²³ او یکی از آن سی نفر دلاور مهم بود، ولی با این وجود مقام و رتبهٔ آن سه نفر را نداشت. داوود او را به مقام فرماندهی محافظین خود تعیین کرد.

²⁴Asahel the brother of Joab was one of the thirty; Elhanan the son of Dodo of Bethlehem,

²⁴ عسائیل، برادر یوآب هم یکی از آن سی نفر بود. بقیّهٔ آنها عبارت بودند از: الحانان پسر دودو از بیت‌لحم،

²⁵Shammah the Harodite, Elika the Harodite,

²⁵ شمهٔ حرودی، الیقای حرودی،

²⁶Helez the Paltite, Ira the son of Ikkesh the Tekoite,

²⁶ حالص فلطی، عیرا پسر عقیش تقوعی،

²⁷Abiezer the Anethothite, Mebunnai the Hushathite,

²⁷ ابیعزر عناتونی، مبونای حوشاتی،

²⁸Zalmon the Ahohite, Maharai the Netophathite,

²⁸ صلمون اخوخی، مهرای نطوفاتی،

²⁹Heleb the son of Baanah, a Netophathite, Ittai the son of Ribai out of Gibeah of the children of Benjamin,

²⁹ حالب پسر بعنهٔ نطوفاتی، اتای پسر ریبای از شهر جعبهٔ بنیامین،

³⁰Benaiah the Pirathonite, Hiddai of the brooks of Gaash,

³⁰ بنایای فرعاتونی، هدای از وادیهای جاعش،

³¹Abialbon the Arbathite, Azmaveth the Barhumite,

³¹ ابوعلبون عرباتی، عزموت برحومی،

³²Eliahba the Shaalbonite, of the sons of Jashen, Jonathan,

³² الیحبای شعلبونی پسر یاشن، یوناتان،

³³Shammah the Hararite, Ahiam the son of Sharar the Hararite,

³³ شمهٔ هراری، اخیام پسر شارر هراری،

³⁴Eliphelet the son of Ahasbai, the son of the Maachathite, Eliam the son of Ahithophel the Gilonite,

³⁴ الیفلط پسر احسبای پسر معکاتی، الیعام پسر اخیتوفل جیلونی،

³⁵Hezrai the Carmelite, Paarai the Arbite,

³⁵ حصرون کرملی، فعرای اربی،

³⁶Igal the son of Nathan of Zobah, Bani the Gadite,

³⁶ یجال پسر ناتان از صوبه، بانی جادی،

³⁷Zelek the Ammonite, Nahari the Beerothite, armourbearer to Joab the son of Zeruiah,

³⁷ صالق عمونی، نحرای بئیروتی (سلاحدار یوآب، پسر صرویه)،

³⁸Ira an Ithrite, Gareb an Ithrite,

³⁸ عیرای یتری، جارب یتری و اوریای حِتّی. این سرداران جمعاً سی و هفت نفر بودند.

³⁹Uriah the Hittite: thirty and seven in all.

³⁹ و اوریای حِتّی. این سرداران جمعاً سی و هفت نفر بودند.
