¹Again, David gathered together all the chosen men of Israel, thirty thousand.

¹ داوود دوباره مردان برگزیدهٔ اسرائیل را که سی هزار نفر بودند، جمع کرد.

²And David arose, and went with all the people that were with him from Baale of Judah, to bring up from thence the ark of God, whose name is called by the name of the LORD of hosts that dwelleth between the cherubim.

² داوود و تمامی مردانش برای آوردن صندوق پیمان خدا به بعل یهودا رفتند. این صندوق نام خداوند متعال را که تختش بر فراز فرشتگان نگهبان قرار دارد، برخود دارد.

³And they set the ark of God upon a new cart, and brought it out of the house of Abinadab that was in Gibeah: and Uzzah and Ahio, the sons of Abinadab, drave the new cart.

³ صندوق پیمان را از خانهٔ ابیناداب، در جبعه برداشته و بر گاری‌ای نو گذاشتند. عُزَّه و اخیو، پسران ابیناداب ارّابه را می‌راندند.

⁴And they brought it out of the house of Abinadab which was at Gibeah, accompanying the ark of God: and Ahio went before the ark.

⁴ و اخیو پیشاپیش آن می‌رفت.

⁵And David and all the house of Israel played before the LORD on all manner of instruments made of fir wood, even on harps, and on psalteries, and on timbrels, and on cornets, and on cymbals.

⁵ داوود و همهٔ قوم اسرائیل با صدای چنگ و کمانچه و دف و سنج با تمام توان، در حضور خداوند سرود می‌خواندند و می‌رقصیدند.

⁶And when they came to Nachon's threshingfloor, Uzzah put forth his hand to the ark of God, and took hold of it; for the oxen shook it.

⁶ چون به خرمنگاه ناکان رسیدند پای گاوها لغزید. عُزّه دست خود را بر صندوق گذاشت که نیفتد.

⁷And the anger of the LORD was kindled against Uzzah; and God smote him there for his error; and there he died by the ark of God.

⁷ آنگاه آتش غضب خداوند بر عُزهّ شعله‌ور گردید و به‌خاطر گناهی که کرد در کنار صندوق خداوند کشته شد.

⁸And David was displeased, because the LORD had made a breach upon Uzzah: and he called the name of the place Perezuzzah to this day.

⁸ داوود از اینکه قهر خداوند عُزّه را به آن سرنوشت دُچار کرد، بسیار خشمگین شد. و آنجا فارص عُزّه نامیده شد که تا به امروز به همین نام یاد می‌شود.

⁹And David was afraid of the LORD that day, and said, How shall the ark of the LORD come to me?

⁹ داوود آن روز از خداوند ترسیده بود و گفت: «حالا چگونه می‌توانم صندوق خداوند را با خود ببرم؟»

¹⁰So David would not remove the ark of the LORD unto him into the city of David: but David carried it aside into the house of Obededom the Gittite.

¹⁰ پس او تصمیم گرفت که صندوق پیمان را به شهر داوود نبرد. پس آن را به خانهٔ عوبید اَدوم جیتی برد

¹¹And the ark of the LORD continued in the house of Obededom the Gittite three months: and the LORD blessed Obededom, and all his household.

¹¹ و مدّت سه ماه در آنجا ماند. خداوند به‌خاطر آن عوبید اَدوم و خانوادهٔ او را برکت داد.

¹²And it was told king David, saying, The LORD hath blessed the house of Obededom, and all that pertaineth unto him, because of the ark of God. So David went and brought up the ark of God from the house of Obededom into the city of David with gladness.

¹² داوود هنگامی‌که باخبر شد که خداوند به‌خاطر آن صندوق، خانواده و همهٔ دارایی عوبید اَدوم را برکت داده است، صندوق خداوند را از خانهٔ عوبید اَدوم با شادمانی به شهر داوود آورد.

¹³And it was so, that when they that bare the ark of the LORD had gone six paces, he sacrificed oxen and fatlings.

¹³ اشخاصی که صندوق را حمل می‌کردند، پس از آنکه شش قدم رفتند توقّف نمودند تا داوود یک گاو و یک گوسالهٔ چاق قربانی کند.

¹⁴And David danced before the LORD with all his might; and David was girded with a linen ephod.

¹⁴ داوود درحالی‌که جامهٔ مخصوص کاهنان را پوشیده بود با تمام وجود پیشاپیش صندوق خداوند، می‌رقصید.

¹⁵So David and all the house of Israel brought up the ark of the LORD with shouting, and with the sound of the trumpet.

¹⁵ به این ترتیب داوود و بنی‌اسرائیل صندوق خداوند را با فریاد خوشی و آواز سرنا به شهر داوود آوردند.

¹⁶And as the ark of the LORD came into the city of David, Michal Saul's daughter looked through a window, and saw king David leaping and dancing before the LORD; and she despised him in her heart.

¹⁶ وقتی صندوق خداوند به شهر داوود رسید، میکال دختر شائول از پنجرهٔ خانه دید که داوود جلوی صندوق خداوند جست‌وخیز کنان می‌رقصد، پس در دل خود او را حقیر شمرد.

¹⁷And they brought in the ark of the LORD, and set it in his place, in the midst of the tabernacle that David had pitched for it: and David offered burnt offerings and peace offerings before the LORD.

¹⁷ بعد صندوق را به درون خیمه در جایی که داوود برایش تعیین کرده بود، قرار دادند. داوود قربانی سوختنی و هدیهٔ سلامتی را به پیشگاه خداوند تقدیم کرد.

¹⁸And as soon as David had made an end of offering burnt offerings and peace offerings, he blessed the people in the name of the LORD of hosts.

¹⁸ پس از ادای مراسم قربانی، داوود همهٔ مردم را به نام خداوند متعال برکت داد.

¹⁹And he dealt among all the people, even among the whole multitude of Israel, as well to the women as men, to every one a cake of bread, and a good piece of flesh, and a flagon of wine. So all the people departed every one to his house.

¹⁹ او به هریک از مردان و زنان یک قرص نان، مقداری کشمش و یک تکه گوشت داد. در پایان مراسم همگی، به خانه‌های خود رفتند.

²⁰Then David returned to bless his household. And Michal the daughter of Saul came out to meet David, and said, How glorious was the king of Israel to day, who uncovered himself to day in the eyes of the handmaids of his servants, as one of the vain fellows shamelessly uncovereth himself!

²⁰ داوود به خانهٔ خود رفت تا خانوادهٔ خود را برکت بدهد، امّا میکال، دختر شائول به استقبال او بیرون رفت و گفت: «امروز پادشاه اسرائیل قدرت و عظمت خود را خوب نشان داد! او مثل یک آدم پست در برابر چشمان کنیزانش، خود را برهنه کرد.»

²¹And David said unto Michal, It was before the LORD, which chose me before thy father, and before all his house, to appoint me ruler over the people of the LORD, over Israel: therefore will I play before the LORD.

²¹ داوود به او گفت: «من در برابر خداوندی که مرا بر پدرت و تمام خانواده‌اش برتری داد، می‌رقصیدم. او مرا رهبر و پیشوای قوم خود ساخت. این کار را برای سپاسگزاری از خداوند انجام دادم

²²And I will yet be more vile than thus, and will be base in mine own sight: and of the maidservants which thou hast spoken of, of them shall I be had in honor.

²² و مایلم که زیادتر از این، کارهای احمقانه بکنم. یقین دارم که برخلاف عقیدهٔ تو، کنیزان، که تو از آنها نام بردی احترام زیادتری برایم خواهند داشت.» پس میکال تا آخر عمر بدون فرزند به سر برد.

²³Therefore Michal the daughter of Saul had no child unto the day of her death.

²³ پس میکال تا آخر عمر بدون فرزند به سر برد.
