¹And David said, Is there yet any that is left of the house of Saul, that I may show him kindness for Jonathan's sake?

¹ روزی داوود پرسید: «آیا کسی از خاندان شائول زنده مانده است تا من به‌خاطر یوناتان به او کمک کنم؟»

²And there was of the house of Saul a servant whose name was Ziba. And when they had called him unto David, the king said unto him, Art thou Ziba? And he said, Thy servant is he.

² یک نفر از خدمتکاران شائول را به نام صیبا به حضور داوود آوردند. داوود پادشاه از او پرسید: «تو صیبا هستی؟» او جواب داد: «بله، سرور من.»

³And the king said, Is there not yet any of the house of Saul, that I may show the kindness of God unto him? And Ziba said unto the king, Jonathan hath yet a son, which is lame on his feet.

³ پادشاه از او سؤال کرد: «آیا هنوز هم از خاندان شائول کسی باقیمانده است تا من وفاداری و مهربانی به او نشان بدهم؟ همان‌طور که به خدا قول دادم، انجام خواهم داد.» صیبا در جواب پادشاه گفت: «بلی، پسر لنگ یوناتان هنوز هم زنده است.»

⁴And the king said unto him, Where is he? And Ziba said unto the king, Behold, he is in the house of Machir, the son of Ammiel, in Lodebar.

⁴ پادشاه پرسید: «او حالا کجاست؟» صیبا گفت: «او در خانهٔ ماخیر پسر عمیئیل در لودبار است»

⁵Then king David sent, and fetched him out of the house of Machir, the son of Ammiel, from Lodebar.

⁵ آنگاه داوود یک نفر را فرستاد تا او را از خانهٔ ماخیر بیاورد.

⁶Now when Mephibosheth, the son of Jonathan, the son of Saul, was come unto David, he fell on his face, and did reverence. And David said, Mephibosheth. And he answered, Behold thy servant!

⁶ وقتی مفیبوشت، پسر یوناتان به حضور داوود آمد، سر خود را به علامت تعظیم به زمین خم کرد. داوود گفت: «مفیبوشت؟» او جواب داد: «بلی، سرور من، بنده در خدمت شما می‌باشم.»

⁷And David said unto him, Fear not: for I will surely show thee kindness for Jonathan thy father's sake, and will restore thee all the land of Saul thy father; and thou shalt eat bread at my table continually.

⁷ داوود گفت: «نترس، من به‌خاطر دوستی و وفاداری به پدرت می‌خواهم در حق تو احسان و خوبی کنم. من تمام زمینهای پدربزرگت، شائول را به تو باز می‌گردانم و تو با من همیشه بر سر یک سفره خواهی نشست.»

⁸And he bowed himself, and said, What is thy servant, that thou shouldest look upon such a dead dog as I am?

⁸ مفیبوشت باز به سجده افتاده تعظیم کرد و گفت: «آیا این سگ مرده لیاقت این‌همه مهربانی را دارد؟»

⁹Then the king called to Ziba, Saul's servant, and said unto him, I have given unto thy master's son all that pertained to Saul and to all his house.

⁹ بعد داوود، صیبا خادم شائول را به حضور خود خواست و گفت: «همهٔ آنچه را که متعلّق به شائول بود به نوهٔ سرورت دادم.

¹⁰Thou therefore, and thy sons, and thy servants, shall till the land for him, and thou shalt bring in the fruits, that thy master's son may have food to eat: but Mephibosheth thy master's son shall eat bread alway at my table. Now Ziba had fifteen sons and twenty servants.

¹⁰ پس تو، پسران و خادمانت باید در زمینهایش کشاورزی کنید تا از حاصل آن پسر سرورت و فامیل او چیزی برای خوردن داشته باشند. امّا مفیبوشت، پسر سرورت همیشه با من در سر یک سفره نان می‌خورد.» صیبا پانزده پسر و بیست خدمتکار داشت.

¹¹Then said Ziba unto the king, According to all that my lord the king hath commanded his servant, so shall thy servant do. As for Mephibosheth, said the king, he shall eat at my table, as one of the king's sons.

¹¹ صیبا به پادشاه گفت: «سرور من، این خدمتکارتان همهٔ آنچه را که فرمودید بجا می‌آورد.» از آن پس مفیبوشت مثل پسران داوود به سر یک سفره با او نان می‌خورد.

¹²And Mephibosheth had a young son, whose name was Micha. And all that dwelt in the house of Ziba were servants unto Mephibosheth.

¹² مفیبوشت پسر جوانی به نام میکا داشت. و همهٔ خانوادهٔ صیبا خدمتکاران مفیبوشت شدند. مفیبوشت که از دو پا لنگ بود به اورشلیم رفت و همیشه در سر سفرهٔ پادشاه نان می‌خورد.

¹³So Mephibosheth dwelt in Jerusalem: for he did eat continually at the king's table; and was lame on both his feet.
