¹The words of Amos, who was among the herdmen of Tekoa, which he saw concerning Israel in the days of Uzziah king of Judah, and in the days of Jeroboam the son of Joash king of Israel, two years before the earthquake.

¹ این است پیام عاموس، چوپانی که از روستای تقوع بود. دو سال پیش از زلزله، هنگامی‌که عُزیا، پادشاه یهودا بود و یربعام پسر یهوآش بر پادشاهی شمالی اسرائیل حکومت می‌کرد، خداوند این رؤیاها را به او نشان داد.

²And he said, The LORD will roar from Zion, and utter his voice from Jerusalem; and the habitations of the shepherds shall mourn, and the top of Carmel shall wither.

² عاموس می‌گوید: «خداوند از کوه صهیون در اورشلیم همچون رعد می‌غرّد. چراگاههای چوپانها خشک می‌شوند و سبزه‌‌های قلّهٔ کوه کرمل، زرد و پژمرده می‌گردند.»

³Thus saith the LORD; For three transgressions of Damascus, and for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because they have threshed Gilead with threshing instruments of iron:

³ خداوند می‌فرماید: «مردم دمشق بارها گناه کرده‌اند، بنابراین از تقصیر آنها چشم نمی‌پوشم و آنها را مجازات می‌کنم، زیرا آنها با مردم جلعاد وحشیانه و ظالمانه رفتار کردند.

⁴But I will send a fire into the house of Hazael, which shall devour the palaces of Benhadad.

⁴ پس من آتش را بر خاندان حزائیل پادشاه نازل می‌کنم و قلعه‌های مستحکم بنهدد را می‌سوزانم.

⁵I will break also the bar of Damascus, and cut off the inhabitant from the plain of Aven, and him that holdeth the sceptre from the house of Eden: and the people of Syria shall go into captivity unto Kir, saith the LORD.

⁵ دروازه‌های شهر دمشق را می‌شکنم و اهالی دشت آون و پادشاه بیت‌عدن را نابود می‌سازم. مردم سوریه به سرزمین قیر به اسارت برده می‌شوند.»

⁶Thus saith the LORD; For three transgressions of Gaza, and for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because they carried away captive the whole captivity, to deliver them up to Edom:

⁶ خداوند می‌فرماید: «اهالی غزه بارها و بارها گناه کرده‌اند و به این خاطر من حتماً آنها را مجازات خواهم کرد. آنها تمام قوم مرا به تبعید بردند و به عنوان اسیر به اَدوم فروختند.

⁷But I will send a fire on the wall of Gaza, which shall devour the palaces thereof:

⁷ پس من آتشی را بر دیوارهای غزه می‌فرستم و قلعه‌های مستحکم آن را می‌سوزانم.

⁸And I will cut off the inhabitant from Ashdod, and him that holdeth the sceptre from Ashkelon, and I will turn mine hand against Ekron: and the remnant of the Philistines shall perish, saith the Lord GOD.

⁸ اهالی اشدود را نابود می‌کنم و پادشاه اشقلون را می‌کشم. مردم شهر عقرون را از بین می‌برم و تمام فلسطینیانی که باقی مانده‌اند هلاک می‌شوند.»

⁹Thus saith the LORD; For three transgressions of Tyrus, and for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because they delivered up the whole captivity to Edom, and remembered not the brotherly covenant:

⁹ خداوند می‌فرماید: «مردم صور بارها گناه کرده‌اند. آنها حتماً مجازات می‌شوند، چرا که آنها تمام قوم اَدوم را به اسارت بردند و پیمان برادری خود را شکستند،

¹⁰But I will send a fire on the wall of Tyrus, which shall devour the palaces thereof.

¹⁰ بنابراین من بر دیوارهای صور آتش نازل می‌کنم و قلعه‌های مستحکمش را با شعله‌های آن می‌سوزانم.»

¹¹Thus saith the LORD; For three transgressions of Edom, and for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because he did pursue his brother with the sword, and did cast off all pity, and his anger did tear perpetually, and he kept his wrath for ever:

¹¹ خداوند می‌فرماید: «قوم اَدوم بارها گناه کرده‌اند. من از سر تقصیراتشان نمی‌گذرم، زیرا آنها با شمشیر به تعقیب برادران بنی‌اسرائیلی خود رفتند و خشم و غضب ایشان بی‌حد و دایمی ‌بود.

¹²But I will send a fire upon Teman, which shall devour the palaces of Bozrah.

¹² پس من نیز آتش بر شهر تیمان می‌فرستم و قلعه‌های بُصره را می‌سوزانم.»

¹³Thus saith the LORD; For three transgressions of the children of Ammon, and for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because they have ripped up the women with child of Gilead, that they might enlarge their border:

¹³ خداوند می‌فرماید: «خطاهای مردم عمون از حد گذشته است. من گناهانشان را فراموش نمی‌کنم، زیرا آنها برای اینکه به سرحدات خود توسعه بخشند، در جنگ جلعاد، شکم زنهای حامله را با شمشیر دریدند.

¹⁴But I will kindle a fire in the wall of Rabbah, and it shall devour the palaces thereof, with shouting in the day of battle, with a tempest in the day of the whirlwind:

¹⁴ بنابراین من بر دیوارهای شهر ربّه آتش می‌افروزم و قلعه‌های آن را با فریاد و غریو جنگ و غرّش توفان از بین می‌برم. پادشاه آن با مأمورینش همگی تبعید خواهد شد.»

¹⁵And their king shall go into captivity, he and his princes together, saith the LORD.

¹⁵ پادشاه آن با مأمورینش همگی تبعید خواهد شد.»
