¹Thus saith the LORD; For three transgressions of Moab, and for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because he burned the bones of the king of Edom into lime:

¹ خداوند می‌فرماید: «مردم موآب بارها گناه کرده‌اند. من از خطاهای آنها چشم نمی‌پوشم، زیرا آنها استخوانهای پادشاه اَدوم را سوزاندند و به خاکستر تبدیل کردند.

²But I will send a fire upon Moab, and it shall devour the palaces of Kirioth: and Moab shall die with tumult, with shouting, and with the sound of the trumpet:

² پس من نیز آتشی را بر مردم زمین موآب می‌فرستم و قلعه‌های قریوت را می‌سوزانم. موآب در بین خروش و غوغای جنگ و نعرهٔ جنگجویان از بین می‌رود.

³And I will cut off the judge from the midst thereof, and will slay all the princes thereof with him, saith the LORD.

³ پادشاه ایشان و رهبرانشان را همگی هلاک خواهم ساخت.»

⁴Thus saith the LORD; For three transgressions of Judah, and for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because they have despised the law of the LORD, and have not kept his commandments, and their lies caused them to err, after the which their fathers have walked:

⁴ خداوند می‌فرماید: «مردم یهودا بارها گناه کرده‌اند. ایشان حتماً جزا می‌بینند، زیرا آنها احکام مرا بجا نیاوردند و از قوانین من پیروی نکردند، بلکه با پرستش همان بُتهایی که معبود اجدادشان بودند، گمراه شدند.

⁵But I will send a fire upon Judah, and it shall devour the palaces of Jerusalem.

⁵ پس من نیز آتش بر یهودا نازل می‌کنم و قلعه‌های اورشلیم را می‌سوزانم.»

⁶Thus saith the LORD; For three transgressions of Israel, and for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because they sold the righteous for silver, and the poor for a pair of shoes;

⁶ خداوند می‌فرماید: «قوم اسرائیل بارها گناه کرده‌اند. آنها باید به سزای گناه خود برسند، زیرا آنها اشخاص نیک و درستکار را که قادر به پرداخت قرض خود نیستند به بردگی می‌فروشند و مردم فقیر و بینوا را با یک جفت کفش عوض می‌کنند.

⁷That pant after the dust of the earth on the head of the poor, and turn aside the way of the meek: and a man and his father will go in unto the same maid, to profane my holy name:

⁷ مردم بینوا را در خاک پایمال می‌کنند و مانع اجرای عدالت در حق اشخاص ضعیف و ناتوان می‌گردند. پسر و پدر با یک دختر همبستر می‌شوند. به این ترتیب نام مقدّس مرا بی‌حرمت می‌سازند.

⁸And they lay themselves down upon clothes laid to pledge by every altar, and they drink the wine of the condemned in the house of their god.

⁸ با همان لباسی که از قرضداران خود گرو گرفته‌اند در کنار هر قربانگاه می‌خوابند و در پرستشگاه خدای خود، با پولی که بابت جریمه از مردم گرفته‌اند شراب می‌نوشند.

⁹Yet destroyed I the Amorite before them, whose height was like the height of the cedars, and he was strong as the oaks; yet I destroyed his fruit from above, and his roots from beneath.

⁹ «امّا ای قوم من، به‌خاطر شما، اموریان را که مانند درختان سرو، بلند و همچون درختان بلوط، نیرومند و قوی بودند، با میوه و ریشه‌هایشان بکلّی نابود ساختم.

¹⁰Also I brought you up from the land of Egypt, and led you forty years through the wilderness, to possess the land of the Amorite.

¹⁰ همچنین من شما را از کشور مصر بیرون آوردم و مدّت چهل سال در بیابان راهنمایی کردم تا سرزمین اموریان را تصاحب کنید.

¹¹And I raised up of your sons for prophets, and of your young men for Nazarites. Is it not even thus, O ye children of Israel? saith the LORD.

¹¹ بعضی از پسران شما را انبیا و بعضی را به عنوان نذر شده برای خودم انتخاب کردم.» خداوند می‌فرماید: «ای قوم اسرائیل، آیا این حقیقت ندارد؟

¹²But ye gave the Nazarites wine to drink; and commanded the prophets, saying, Prophesy not.

¹² امّا شما به آن جوانان نذر شده شراب دادید که بنوشند و به انبیا گفتید که پیشگویی نکنند.

¹³Behold, I am pressed under you, as a cart is pressed that is full of sheaves.

¹³ پس حالا شما را مانند گاری‌ای که در زیر بار غلّه صدا می‌کند، به ناله می‌آورم.

¹⁴Therefore the flight shall perish from the swift, and the strong shall not strengthen his force, neither shall the mighty deliver himself:

¹⁴ حتّی سریعترین کسان نمی‌توانند فرار کنند. قوّت و نیروی جنگجویان از بین می‌رود و قادر نخواهند بود که جان سالم بدربرند.

¹⁵Neither shall he stand that handleth the bow; and he that is swift of foot shall not deliver himself: neither shall he that rideth the horse deliver himself.

¹⁵ تیراندازان مقاومت خود را از دست می‌دهند، دوندگان از فرار باز می‌مانند و اسب سواران نمی‌توانند جانهای خود را نجات دهند.» خداوند می‌فرماید: «در آن روز شجاعترین جنگجویان برای نجات جان خود، سلاح خود را به زمین خواهند انداخت و فرار خواهند کرد.»

¹⁶And he that is courageous among the mighty shall flee away naked in that day, saith the LORD.

¹⁶ خداوند می‌فرماید: «در آن روز شجاعترین جنگجویان برای نجات جان خود، سلاح خود را به زمین خواهند انداخت و فرار خواهند کرد.»
