¹The burden of the desert of the sea. As whirlwinds in the south pass through; so it cometh from the desert, from a terrible land.

¹ این پیامی است برای بابل: بلایی مثل گردباد تند از آن سوی صحرا از سرزمینی مخوف خواهد آمد.

²A grievous vision is declared unto me; the treacherous dealer dealeth treacherously, and the spoiler spoileth. Go up, O Elam: besiege, O Media; all the sighing thereof have I made to cease.

² من در رؤیا صحنه‌های ظالمانه‌ای دیده‌ام. رؤیای خیانت و ویرانی دیده‌ام. ای ارتش عیلام حمله کنید، ای قشون مادها، شهرها را محاصره کنید. خداوند به ظلم و ستم بابل خاتمه خواهد داد.

³Therefore are my loins filled with pain: pangs have taken hold upon me, as the pangs of a woman that travaileth: I was bowed down at the hearing of it; I was dismayed at the seeing of it.

³ چیزی که من در رؤیا دیدم و شنیدم، مرا به وحشت انداخته و دردی مثل درد زنِ در حال زایمان، تمام وجودم را پر کرده است.

⁴My heart panted, fearfulness affrighted me: the night of my pleasure hath he turned into fear unto me.

⁴ سرگیجه گرفته‌ام و از ترس بر خود می‌لرزم. در انتظار غروب آفتاب بودم ولی آن هم برای من چیزی جز وحشت به همراه نیاورد.

⁵Prepare the table, watch in the watchtower, eat, drink: arise, ye princes, and anoint the shield.

⁵ در رؤیا، ضیافتی را آماده دیدم. فرشهایی برای نشستن میهمانان پهن بود. همه می‌خورند و می‌نوشند. ناگهان فرمانی شنیده می‌شود: «افسران! سپرهای خود را آماده سازید!»

⁶For thus hath the LORD said unto me, Go, set a watchman, let him declare what he seeth.

⁶ آنگاه خداوند به من گفت: «برو یک نگهبان بگمار و به او بگو از هر آنچه می‌بیند، گزارش دهد.

⁷And he saw a chariot with a couple of horsemen, a chariot of asses, and a chariot of camels; and he hearkened diligently with much heed:

⁷ او باید با دقّت نگاه کند و ببیند که آیا مردان سوار بر اسب هستند؟ آیا در ستون دو نفره حرکت می‌کنند و یا مردان سوار بر الاغ یا شتر هستند؟»

⁸And he cried, A lion: My lord, I stand continually upon the watchtower in the daytime, and I am set in my ward whole nights:

⁸ نگهبان فریاد می‌زند و می‌گوید: «آقایم، من در محل نگهبانی خود شب و روز مراقب بوده‌ام.»

⁹And, behold, here cometh a chariot of men, with a couple of horsemen. And he answered and said, Babylon is fallen, is fallen; and all the graven images of her gods he hath broken unto the ground.

⁹ ناگهان نگهبان خبر می‌دهد: «آنها آمده‌اند! مردان سوار بر اسب در ستون دو، بابل سقوط کرد! تمام بُتهایی که می‌پرستید، خُرد شده و به اطراف زمین ریخته‌اند.»

¹⁰O my threshing, and the corn of my floor: that which I have heard of the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, have I declared unto you.

¹⁰ ای قوم من، ای اسرائیل، که مثل خرمن گندم کوبیده‌ شده‌ای اکنون به تو خبر خوشی می‌دهم که من از خداوند متعال -‌خدای اسرائیل- شنیده‌ام!

¹¹The burden of Dumah. He calleth to me out of Seir, Watchman, what of the night? Watchman, what of the night?

¹¹ این پیامی است برای اَدوم: کسی از اَدوم مرا صدا می‌زند: «ای دیده‌بان، شب کی به پایان می‌رسد؟ به من بگو آیا شب بزودی تمام می‌شود؟»

¹²The watchman said, The morning cometh, and also the night: if ye will enquire, enquire ye: return, come.

¹² در پاسخ می‌گویم: «صبح می‌آید، ولی دوباره شب خواهد شد. اگر باز هم سؤالی داری، بازگرد و بپرس.»

¹³The burden upon Arabia. In the forest in Arabia shall ye lodge, O ye travelling companies of Dedanim.

¹³ این پیامی است برای قوم عرب: ای مردمان ددان، شما که کاروانهایتان در سرزمین خشک عربستان چادر زده‌اند،

¹⁴The inhabitants of the land of Tema brought water to him that was thirsty, they prevented with their bread him that fled.

¹⁴ به تشنگانی که پیش شما می‌آیند، آب بدهید. شما مردم سرزمین تیما، به پناهندگان غذا بدهید.

¹⁵For they fled from the swords, from the drawn sword, and from the bent bow, and from the grievousness of war.

¹⁵ مردم از دَم شمشیرهایی که برای کشتن آنها کشیده شده فرار می‌کنند و از تیرهایی که آمادهٔ نشانه‌گیری است و از تمام خطرهای جنگ می‌گریزند.

¹⁶For thus hath the LORD said unto me, Within a year, according to the years of an hireling, and all the glory of Kedar shall fail:

¹⁶ آنگاه خداوند به من گفت: «دقیقاً تا یک سال دیگر، چیزی از عظمت قبایل قیدار باقی نخواهد ماند. تیراندازان قیدار از شجاع‌ترین مردان هستند، امّا تعداد کمی از آنها زنده خواهند ماند. من، خداوند -‌خدای اسرائیل- این را گفته‌ام.»

¹⁷And the residue of the number of archers, the mighty men of the children of Kedar, shall be diminished: for the LORD God of Israel hath spoken it.

¹⁷ تیراندازان قیدار از شجاع‌ترین مردان هستند، امّا تعداد کمی از آنها زنده خواهند ماند. من، خداوند -‌خدای اسرائیل- این را گفته‌ام.»
