¹The burden of the valley of vision. What aileth thee now, that thou art wholly gone up to the housetops?

¹ این پیامی است دربارهٔ درّهٔ رؤیاها: چه اتّفاقی افتاده است؟ چرا همهٔ مردم شهر در پشت بامهای خود جشن گرفته‌اند؟

²Thou that art full of stirs, a tumultuous city, joyous city: thy slain men are not slain with the sword, nor dead in battle.

² تمام شهر پر از همهمه، شور و هیجان، و پر سر و صداست. مردان شما که کشته شده‌اند، در حال جنگ با دشمن کشته نشدند.

³All thy rulers are fled together, they are bound by the archers: all that are found in thee are bound together, which have fled from far.

³ تمام رهبران شما در حال فرار، قبل از اینکه حتّی یک تیر از کمان رها کرده باشند، دستگیر و اسیر شدند.

⁴Therefore said I, Look away from me; I will weep bitterly, labour not to comfort me, because of the spoiling of the daughter of my people.

⁴ مرا تنها بگذارید تا در مرگ تمام قوم خودم سخت گریه کنم و برای تسلّی من کوشش نکنید.

⁵For it is a day of trouble, and of treading down, and of perplexity by the Lord GOD of hosts in the valley of vision, breaking down the walls, and of crying to the mountains.

⁵ اکنون زمان وحشت، شکست و آشفتگی در درّهٔ رؤیاهاست و این خواست خداوند، خدای متعال برای ماست. دیوارهای شهر ما فروریخته و فریاد مردم برای کمک در کوهها طنین انداخته است.

⁶And Elam bare the quiver with chariots of men and horsemen, and Kir uncovered the shield.

⁶ سربازان سرزمین عیلام سوار بر اسب و مسلّح به تیر و کمان آمده‌اند و سربازان سرزمین قیر با سپرهای آمادهٔ دفاع.

⁷And it shall come to pass, that thy choicest valleys shall be full of chariots, and the horsemen shall set themselves in array at the gate.

⁷ دشتهای حاصلخیز یهودا از ارّابه‌های جنگی پر شده‌اند و سواره نظام جلوی دروازه‌های اورشلیم ایستاده‌اند.

⁸And he discovered the covering of Judah, and thou didst look in that day to the armour of the house of the forest.

⁸ تمام قدرت دفاعی یهودا از هم پاشیده شده است. بعد از تمام اینها، آن وقت شما اسلحه‌های خود را از زرّادخانه بیرون آوردید.

⁹Ye have seen also the breaches of the city of David, that they are many: and ye gathered together the waters of the lower pool.

⁹ قسمت‌هایی از دیوار اورشلیم را که احتیاج به بازسازی داشت، یافتید. تمام خانه‌های اورشلیم را بازدید کردید، و بعضی از خانه‌ها را در اورشلیم خراب کردید تا سنگهای آنها را برای تعمیر دیوارهای شهر به‌ کار ببرید.

¹⁰And ye have numbered the houses of Jerusalem, and the houses have ye broken down to fortify the wall.

¹⁰ برای ذخیرهٔ آب، آب‌انباری در شهر ساختید که مازاد آب استخر قدیمی به آن جاری و نگهداری می‌شود. امّا شما به آن خدایی که همهٔ این چیزها را از زمانهای قدیم مُقدّر کرده بود، توجهی نکردید.

¹¹Ye made also a ditch between the two walls for the water of the old pool: but ye have not looked unto the maker thereof, neither had respect unto him that fashioned it long ago.

¹¹ آنگاه خداوند، خدای متعال از شما خواست گریه و سوگواری کنید، سرهایتان را بتراشید و پلاس بر تن کنید.

¹²And in that day did the Lord GOD of hosts call to weeping, and to mourning, and to baldness, and to girding with sackcloth:

¹² در عوض، شما خندیدید و جشن گرفتید، گاو و گوسفند خود را سر بریدید و ‌خوردید، و به نوشیدن شراب پرداختید. شما گفتید: «بهتر است الآن بخوریم و بنوشیم، چون فردا خواهیم مرد.»

¹³And behold joy and gladness, slaying oxen, and killing sheep, eating flesh, and drinking wine: let us eat and drink; for to morrow we shall die.

¹³ خداوند، خدای متعال خودش به من چنین گفت: «آنها تا زنده هستند، هرگز برای این شرارت آمرزیده نخواهند شد. من -‌خداوند، خدای متعال- چنین گفته‌ام.»

¹⁴And it was revealed in mine ears by the LORD of hosts, Surely this iniquity shall not be purged from you till ye die, saith the Lord GOD of hosts.

¹⁴ خداوند، خدای متعال به من گفت به نزد شبنا، رئیس تشکیلات کاخ سلطنتی بروم و به او بگویم:

¹⁵Thus saith the Lord GOD of hosts, Go, get thee unto this treasurer, even unto Shebna, which is over the house, and say,

¹⁵ «تو فکر می‌کنی کسی هستی؟ تو چه حقّی داشتی برای خود مقبره‌ای در دامنهٔ تپّه‌های سنگی بسازی؟

¹⁶What hast thou here? and whom hast thou here, that thou hast hewed thee out a sepulchre here, as he that heweth him out a sepulchre on high, and that graveth an habitation for himself in a rock?

¹⁶ ممکن است که تو آدم مهمی باشی، امّا خداوند تو را می‌گیرد و دور می‌اندازد.

¹⁷Behold, the LORD will carry thee away with a mighty captivity, and will surely cover thee.

¹⁷ او تو را مثل توپی بر‌می‌دارد و به سرزمین بسیار بزرگتری پرت خواهد کرد. در آنجا تو در کنار ارّابه‌های جنگی که آن‌قدر به آنها افتخار می‌کردی، خواهی مرد. تو موجب ننگ خاندان ارباب خود هستی.

¹⁸He will surely violently turn and toss thee like a ball into a large country: there shalt thou die, and there the chariots of thy glory shall be the shame of thy lord's house.

¹⁸ خداوند این کار را از تو خواهد گرفت و تو را از مقام بالایت به پایین خواهد انداخت.»

¹⁹And I will drive thee from thy station, and from thy state shall he pull thee down.

¹⁹ خداوند به شبنا گفت: «وقتی این چیزها واقع شود، من به دنبال خادم خودم -‌الیاقیم پسر حلقیا- خواهم فرستاد.

²⁰And it shall come to pass in that day, that I will call my servant Eliakim the son of Hilkiah:

²⁰ من ردای رسمی و کمربند تو را به او خواهم داد و اختیارات و قدرتی را که تو داشتی، به او می‌دهم. او مثل یک پدر برای مردم اورشلیم و یهودا خواهد بود.

²¹And I will clothe him with thy robe, and strengthen him with thy girdle, and I will commit thy government into his hand: and he shall be a father to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and to the house of Judah.

²¹ من به او اختیار کامل خواهم داد تا زیر نظر پادشاه -‌فرزند داوود- خدمت کند. او کلیدهای امور را در دست خواهد داشت. دری که او باز کند، کسی نمی‌تواند ببندد و دری که او ببندد، هیچ‌کس نمی‌تواند آن را باز کند.

²²And the key of the house of David will I lay upon his shoulder; so he shall open, and none shall shut; and he shall shut, and none shall open.

²² من او را در مقامش مثل میخی که محکم شده نگاه می‌دارم و او موجب افتخار برای تمام خانوادهٔ خود خواهد بود.

²³And I will fasten him as a nail in a sure place; and he shall be for a glorious throne to his father's house.

²³ «امّا بار تمام خویشاوندان او و کسانی‌که به او متّکی هستند، بر دوش او سنگینی خواهد کرد. آنها مثل دیگها و کاسه‌هایی که از میخی آویزان باشند به او آویخته‌اند! وقتی چنین شود، میخی که محکم بود، شل می‌شود و می‌افتد. این، پایان کار تمام چیزهایی خواهد بود که به آن آویخته بودند. وقتی چنین شود میخی که محکم بود، شل می‌شود و می‌افتد. و این پایان کار تمام چیزهایی خواهد بود که به آن آویخته بودند.» خداوند متعال چنین گفته است.

²⁴And they shall hang upon him all the glory of his father's house, the offspring and the issue, all vessels of small quantity, from the vessels of cups, even to all the vessels of flagons.

²⁴ وقتی چنین شود میخی که محکم بود، شل می‌شود و می‌افتد. و این پایان کار تمام چیزهایی خواهد بود که به آن آویخته بودند.» خداوند متعال چنین گفته است.

²⁵In that day, saith the LORD of hosts, shall the nail that is fastened in the sure place be removed, and be cut down, and fall; and the burden that was upon it shall be cut off: for the LORD hath spoken it.
