¹For, behold, the Lord, the LORD of hosts, doth take away from Jerusalem and from Judah the stay and the staff, the whole stay of bread, and the whole stay of water.

¹ و اینک خداوند -‌خداوند متعال- چیزها و کسانی را ‌که مردم اورشلیم و یهودا به آنها متّکی هستند از آنها می‌گیرد. او آب و نان

²The mighty man, and the man of war, the judge, and the prophet, and the prudent, and the ancient,

² قهرمانان و سربازان، داوران و انبیا، فالگیران و دولتمندان آنها را می‌گیرد.

³The captain of fifty, and the honourable man, and the counsellor, and the cunning artificer, and the eloquent orator.

³ خداوند فرماندهان نظامی، رهبران اجتماعی، سیاستمداران و جادوگران آنها را می‌گیرد.

⁴And I will give children to be their princes, and babes shall rule over them.

⁴ افراد بی‌تجربه و کودکان بر آنها حکومت خواهند کرد.

⁵And the people shall be oppressed, every one by another, and every one by his neighbour: the child shall behave himself proudly against the ancient, and the base against the honourable.

⁵ همه به حقوق یکدیگر تجاوز می‌کنند جوانان به پیران بی‌احترامی می‌کنند و فرومایگان نسبت به بزرگان خود بی‌ادب می‌شوند.

⁶When a man shall take hold of his brother of the house of his father, saying, Thou hast clothing, be thou our ruler, and let this ruin be under thy hand:

⁶ زمانی خواهد آمد که اعضای یک خاندان کسی را از بین خود انتخاب می‌کنند و به او خواهند گفت: «تو اقلاً چیزی برای پوشیدن داری، بیا و در این روزهای سخت، رهبری ما را به عهده گیر.»

⁷In that day shall he swear, saying, I will not be an healer; for in my house is neither bread nor clothing: make me not a ruler of the people.

⁷ امّا او در پاسخ می‌گوید، «نه من نمی‌توانم به شما کمک کنم. من هم خوراک و پوشاکی ندارم. مرا برای رهبری خود انتخاب نکنید.»

⁸For Jerusalem is ruined, and Judah is fallen: because their tongue and their doings are against the LORD, to provoke the eyes of his glory.

⁸ آری، اورشلیم محکوم به ویرانی است و یهودا در حال فرو ریختن است، هرچه آنها می‌گویند و هرچه می‌کنند برضد خداوند است، آنها آشکارا به خود خدا توهین می‌کنند.

⁹The shew of their countenance doth witness against them; and they declare their sin as Sodom, they hide it not. Woe unto their soul! for they have rewarded evil unto themselves.

⁹ تعصّب آنها گواهی است برضد خودشان. آنها مانند مردم سدوم آشکارا گناه می‌کنند؛ آنها محکوم شده‌اند و مقصّر خودشان می‌باشند.

¹⁰Say ye to the righteous, that it shall be well with him: for they shall eat the fruit of their doings.

¹⁰ خوشا به‌ حال نیکوکاران، چون همه‌چیز بروفق مرادشان خواهد بود. آنها از ثمرهٔ کارهای خود خشنود خواهند شد.

¹¹Woe unto the wicked! it shall be ill with him: for the reward of his hands shall be given him.

¹¹ امّا شریران مکافات خواهند شد و آنچه آنها به دیگران کردند همان بر سرشان خواهد آمد.

¹²As for my people, children are their oppressors, and women rule over them. O my people, they which lead thee cause thee to err, and destroy the way of thy paths.

¹² نزول‌خواران بر قوم ظلم می‌کنند و طلبکارانشان آنها را فریب می‌دهند. ای قوم من، رهبرانتان شما را گمراه می‌کنند به ‌طوری که نمی‌دانید به کدام جهت بروید.

¹³The LORD standeth up to plead, and standeth to judge the people.

¹³ خداوند آماده است دعوی خود را در دادگاه مطرح کند، و او حاضر است قوم خود را داوری کند.

¹⁴The LORD will enter into judgment with the ancients of his people, and the princes thereof: for ye have eaten up the vineyard; the spoil of the poor is in your houses.

¹⁴ خداوند بزرگان و رهبران قوم خود را برای محاکمه می‌طلبد و می‌گوید: «شما تاکستانها را تاراج کردید و خانه‌های شما پر است از آنچه از بینوایان گرفته‌اید.

¹⁵What mean ye that ye beat my people to pieces, and grind the faces of the poor? saith the Lord GOD of hosts.

¹⁵ شما حق ندارید قوم مرا این چنین ذلیل سازید و از بینوایان سوء استفاده کنید. من خداوند، خدای متعال سخن می‌گویم.»

¹⁶Moreover the LORD saith, Because the daughters of Zion are haughty, and walk with stretched forth necks and wanton eyes, walking and mincing as they go, and making a tinkling with their feet:

¹⁶ خداوند می‌گوید: «ببینید، زنان اورشلیم چه مغرورند. با دماغهای سربالا و با ناز و غمزه راه می‌روند. آنها با قدمهای کوتاه می‌خرامند و زنگوله‌های تزئینی پابندهای خود را به صدا در‌می‌آورند.

¹⁷Therefore the LORD will smite with a scab the crown of the head of the daughters of Zion, and the LORD will discover their secret parts.

¹⁷ من آنها را تنبیه خواهم کرد، موی سرشان را می‌تراشم و آنها طاس خواهند شد.»

¹⁸In that day the Lord will take away the bravery of their tinkling ornaments about their feet, and their cauls, and their round tires like the moon,

¹⁸ روزی خواهد آمد که خداوند تمام جواهراتی را که این زنان به مچ پا یا به سر و گردن خود آویزان می‌کنند و به آنها می‌نازند از آنان خواهند گرفت.

¹⁹The chains, and the bracelets, and the mufflers,

¹⁹ او دستبندهای زینتی آنها را خواهد گرفت و روسری‌هایشان را برخواهد داشت.

²⁰The bonnets, and the ornaments of the legs, and the headbands, and the tablets, and the earrings,

²⁰ طلسم‌هایی‌ که به بازوی خود می‌بندند

²¹The rings, and nose jewels,

²¹ و حلقه‌هایی که برای زینت به انگشت می‌کنند و یا از بینی خودشان آویزان می‌کنند.

²²The changeable suits of apparel, and the mantles, and the wimples, and the crisping pins,

²² تمام جامه‌های نفیس‌شان را با رداها، شالها، کیفها

²³The glasses, and the fine linen, and the hoods, and the vails.

²³ و لباس نازک بدن‌نما، دستمال‌گردن، روسری و پوشش بلندی که بر سر می‌کنند، همه را از آنها خواهد گرفت.

²⁴And it shall come to pass, that instead of sweet smell there shall be stink; and instead of a girdle a rent; and instead of well set hair baldness; and instead of a stomacher a girding of sackcloth; and burning instead of beauty.

²⁴ به جای عطرهای خوشبو، آنها بوی گَند خواهند داد، به جای استفاده از کمربندهای زینتی، ریسمان ضخیم بر کمر آنها بسته خواهد شد، به جای موهای زیبا سرهای طاس خواهند داشت، و به جای لباسهای زیبا، پلاس بر تن خواهند کرد، و زیبایی آنها به ننگ تبدیل می‌شود.

²⁵Thy men shall fall by the sword, and thy mighty in the war.

²⁵ امّا دربارهٔ مردان شهر، آری، قویترین آنها در جنگ کشته می‌شوند. دروازه‌های شهر گریان و سوگوارند و تمام شهر مانند زنی برهنه خواهد بود که در کُنجی روی زمین نشسته است.

²⁶And her gates shall lament and mourn; and she being desolate shall sit upon the ground.

²⁶ دروازه‌های شهر گریان و سوگوارند و تمام شهر مانند زنی برهنه خواهد بود که در کُنجی روی زمین نشسته است.
