¹Behold, a king shall reign in righteousness, and princes shall rule in judgment.

¹ روزی می‌رسد که پادشاهی امین و درستکار و رهبرانی عادل و با انصاف، بر مردم حکومت خواهند کرد.

²And a man shall be as an hiding place from the wind, and a covert from the tempest; as rivers of water in a dry place, as the shadow of a great rock in a weary land.

² هر یک از آنها مانند پناهگاهی در برابر باد، حفاظی در برابر توفان و مثل نهرهای آبی در کویر یا سایهٔ صخرهٔ عظیمی در زمین بی‌آب و علف خواهند بود.

³And the eyes of them that see shall not be dim, and the ears of them that hear shall hearken.

³ چشمها و گوشهای آنها برای دیدن و شنیدن نیازهای مردم باز خواهد بود.

⁴The heart also of the rash shall understand knowledge, and the tongue of the stammerers shall be ready to speak plainly.

⁴ آنها دیگر ناشکیبا و بی‌حوصله نخواهند بود. با ادراک عمل می‌کنند و حرف دلشان را با صداقت می‌گویند.

⁵The vile person shall be no more called liberal, nor the churl said to be bountiful.

⁵ دیگر کسی احمق را، محترم، و آدم رَذل را، امین نخواهد دانست.

⁶For the vile person will speak villany, and his heart will work iniquity, to practise hypocrisy, and to utter error against the LORD, to make empty the soul of the hungry, and he will cause the drink of the thirsty to fail.

⁶ آدم احمق، احمقانه سخن می‌گوید و در اندیشهٔ انجام کارهای شرارت‌آمیز است. آنچه می‌کند و آنچه می‌گوید توهینی است به خداوند. او هیچ وقت به گرسنگان غذا و به تشنگان چیزی برای نوشیدن نمی‌دهد.

⁷The instruments also of the churl are evil: he deviseth wicked devices to destroy the poor with lying words, even when the needy speaketh right.

⁷ آدم تبهکار، شریر است و کارهای شرارت‌آمیز انجام می‌دهد. او برای فلاکت بیچارگان توطئه می‌کند و برای محروم کردن آنها از حقّشان دروغ می‌گوید.

⁸But the liberal deviseth liberal things; and by liberal things shall he stand.

⁸ امّا انسان شریف با صداقت عمل می‌کند و برای دفاع از حق و راستی می‌ایستد.

⁹Rise up, ye women that are at ease; hear my voice, ye careless daughters; give ear unto my speech.

⁹ شما ای زنانی که در راحتی و فارغ از تمام نگرانی‌ها زندگی می‌کنید، به آنچه می‌گویم گوش دهید.

¹⁰Many days and years shall ye be troubled, ye careless women: for the vintage shall fail, the gathering shall not come.

¹⁰ ممکن است شما امروز راضی و خوشحال باشید، امّا سال آینده در همین وقت نومید خواهید شد، چون دیگر انگوری نخواهد بود که بچینید.

¹¹Tremble, ye women that are at ease; be troubled, ye careless ones: strip you, and make you bare, and gird sackcloth upon your loins.

¹¹ شما زندگی راحتی داشتید، آزاد از همهٔ نگرانی‌ها، امّا اکنون باید از ترس بر خود بلرزید. لباس خود را درآورید، و با پارچه‌ای کهنه و مندرس عورت خود را بپوشانید.

¹²They shall lament for the teats, for the pleasant fields, for the fruitful vine.

¹² با غم و اندوه بر سینهٔ خود بزنید، چون مزارع حاصلخیز و تاکستانها از بین رفته‌اند،

¹³Upon the land of my people shall come up thorns and briers; yea, upon all the houses of joy in the joyous city:

¹³ و بوته‌های خار و خلنگ در زمین قوم من روییده‌اند. برای خانواده‌هایی که خوشحال بودند و برای شهری که روزی زنده و پر تحرّک بود گریه کنید.

¹⁴Because the palaces shall be forsaken; the multitude of the city shall be left; the forts and towers shall be for dens for ever, a joy of wild asses, a pasture of flocks;

¹⁴ حتّی کاخ سلطنتی متروک و پایتخت کاملاً از جمعیّت خالی خواهد شد. ساختمانها و قلعه‌هایی که آن را حفاظت می‌کرد، برای همیشه ویران شده‌اند. گورخرها در آن پرسه می‌زنند و گوسفندان در آن می‌چرند.

¹⁵Until the spirit be poured upon us from on high, and the wilderness be a fruitful field, and the fruitful field be counted for a forest.

¹⁵ امّا خدا یک بار دیگر روح خود را خواهد فرستاد. زمین بایر حاصلخیز می‌شود و مزراع، محصول فراوان خواهند داد.

¹⁶Then judgment shall dwell in the wilderness, and righteousness remain in the fruitful field.

¹⁶ راستی و عدالت در تمام این سرزمین حاکم خواهد بود.

¹⁷And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.

¹⁷ چون همه، آنچه را که راست و درست است انجام می‌دهند. صلح و امنیّت دایمی برقرار خواهد بود.

¹⁸And my people shall dwell in a peaceable habitation, and in sure dwellings, and in quiet resting places;

¹⁸ قوم خداوند از تمام نگرانی‌ها در امان و خانه‌هایشان در صلح و امنیّت خواهد بود،

¹⁹When it shall hail, coming down on the forest; and the city shall be low in a low place.

¹⁹ هرچند تگرگ خواهد بارید و خانه‌هایشان را خراب خواهد کرد. خوشا به ‌حالشان، چون همه آب فراوان برای کِشت محصولات و چراگاههای امن برای رمه و الاغهای خود خواهند داشت.

²⁰Blessed are ye that sow beside all waters, that send forth thither the feet of the ox and the ass.
