¹Woe to thee that spoilest, and thou wast not spoiled; and dealest treacherously, and they dealt not treacherously with thee! when thou shalt cease to spoil, thou shalt be spoiled; and when thou shalt make an end to deal treacherously, they shall deal treacherously with thee.

¹ وای به حال دشمنان ما! آنها دزدیدند و خیانت کردند، هرچند هیچ‌کس اموال آنها را ندزدید و کسی به آنها خیانت نکرد. امّا زمان چپاول و خیانت به آخر خواهد رسید و آنها خودشان هدف چپاول و خیانت قرار خواهند گرفت.

²O LORD, be gracious unto us; we have waited for thee: be thou their arm every morning, our salvation also in the time of trouble.

² ای خداوند، بر ما رحم فرما. امید ما به توست. ما را همیشه در حمایت خودت نگه‌دار و ما را از مشکلات نجات بده.

³At the noise of the tumult the people fled; at the lifting up of thyself the nations were scattered.

³ وقتی تو برای ما می‌جنگی، ملّتها از صدای مهیب جنگ می‌گریزند.

⁴And your spoil shall be gathered like the gathering of the caterpiller: as the running to and fro of locusts shall he run upon them.

⁴ اموال آنها به تاراج رفته و به یغما برده شده‌اند.

⁵The LORD is exalted; for he dwelleth on high: he hath filled Zion with judgment and righteousness.

⁵ چه بزرگ است خداوند، او از بالا بر همه‌چیز حکومت می‌کند. او اورشلیم را از عدالت و درستکاری پُر خواهد ساخت.

⁶And wisdom and knowledge shall be the stability of thy times, and strength of salvation: the fear of the LORD is his treasure.

⁶ و به ملّت ثبات خواهد بخشید. او همیشه قوم خود را حفظ و به آنها حکمت و دانش عطا می‌کند. ترس و حرمت خداوند بزرگترین گنجینهٔ آنها خواهد بود.

⁷Behold, their valiant ones shall cry without: the ambassadors of peace shall weep bitterly.

⁷ شجاعان برای کمک فریاد می‌زنند. سفیرانی که برای ایجاد صلح کوشیدند زار‌زار گریه می‌کنند.

⁸The highways lie waste, the wayfaring man ceaseth: he hath broken the covenant, he hath despised the cities, he regardeth no man.

⁸ شاهراهها آن‌‌قدر خطرناکند که کسی از آن راهها سفر نمی‌کند. پیمانها شکسته و قراردادها نقض شده‌اند. دیگر کسی احترام ندارد.

⁹The earth mourneth and languisheth: Lebanon is ashamed and hewn down: Sharon is like a wilderness; and Bashan and Carmel shake off their fruits.

⁹ زمین، بایر و متروک و جنگلهای لبنان پژمرده و درّهٔ حاصلخیز شارون مثل کویر شده است و در باشان و در کوهستان کرمل، برگ درختان در حال ریختن است.

¹⁰Now will I rise, saith the LORD; now will I be exalted; now will I lift up myself.

¹⁰ خداوند به ملّتها می‌گوید: «من اکنون وارد عمل می‌شوم و قدرت خود را به شما نشان خواهم داد.

¹¹Ye shall conceive chaff, ye shall bring forth stubble: your breath, as fire, shall devour you.

¹¹ نقشه‌های شما بی‌ارزش و هرچه می‌کنید بی‌فایده است. روح من مثل آتش شما را می‌سوزاند و نابود می‌کند.

¹²And the people shall be as the burnings of lime: as thorns cut up shall they be burned in the fire.

¹² شما مثل سنگی که برای تبدیل به آهک سوخته می‌شود خُرد، و مثل بوته‌های خار سوزانده و خاکستر خواهید شد.

¹³Hear, ye that are far off, what I have done; and, ye that are near, acknowledge my might.

¹³ مردم در همه‌جا -‌دور و نزدیک- به آنچه کرده‌ام گوش دهند و به قدرت من پی ببرند.»

¹⁴The sinners in Zion are afraid; fearfulness hath surprised the hypocrites. Who among us shall dwell with the devouring fire? who among us shall dwell with everlasting burnings?

¹⁴ مردم گناهکار صهیون از ترس می‌لرزند و می‌گویند: «داوری خدا مثل آتشی است که جاودانه می‌سوزد و می‌سوزاند. آیا کسی از ما زنده خواهد ماند؟»

¹⁵He that walketh righteously, and speaketh uprightly; he that despiseth the gain of oppressions, that shaketh his hands from holding of bribes, that stoppeth his ears from hearing of blood, and shutteth his eyes from seeing evil;

¹⁵ شما می‌توانید زنده بمانید اگر آنچه می‌گویید و انجام می‌دهید، راست و درست باشد. از قدرت خودتان برای فریب فقیران استفاده نکنید و رشوه نگیرید. با کسانی‌که نقشهٔ قتل دیگران را می‌کشند یا در فکر کارهای شرارت‌آمیز هستند، هم پیمان نشوید.

¹⁶He shall dwell on high: his place of defence shall be the munitions of rocks: bread shall be given him; his waters shall be sure.

¹⁶ آن وقت، گویی در پناه قلعه‌های مستحکم، در امن و امان خواهید بود و غذا برای خوردن و آب برای آشامیدن خواهید داشت.

¹⁷Thine eyes shall see the king in his beauty: they shall behold the land that is very far off.

¹⁷ یک‌بار دیگر پادشاهی را خواهید دید که به سرزمینی حکومت می‌کند که کرانه‌های آن به هر سو امتداد دارد.

¹⁸Thine heart shall meditate terror. Where is the scribe? where is the receiver? where is he that counted the towers?

¹⁸ ترسهای گذشتهٔ شما از مأموران جمع‌آوری مالیات و از جاسوسان بیگانه فقط به صورت یک خاطره خواهد بود.

¹⁹Thou shalt not see a fierce people, a people of a deeper speech than thou canst perceive; of a stammering tongue, that thou canst not understand.

¹⁹ دیگر یک خارجی متکبّر را که به زبانی بیگانه صحبت کند، نخواهید دید.

²⁰Look upon Zion, the city of our solemnities: thine eyes shall see Jerusalem a quiet habitation, a tabernacle that shall not be taken down; not one of the stakes thereof shall ever be removed, neither shall any of the cords thereof be broken.

²⁰ به صهیون، به شهری که ما اعیاد مذهبی خود را در آن جشن می‌گیریم، نگاه کنید. به اورشلیم نگاه کنید! چه جای امنی برای زندگی خواهد بود. مانند خیمه‌ای خواهد بود که هرگز از جایش تکان نخورده و میخهای آن از جایشان بیرون نیامده و ریسمانهایش پاره نشده است.

²¹But there the glorious LORD will be unto us a place of broad rivers and streams; wherein shall go no galley with oars, neither shall gallant ship pass thereby.

²¹ خداوند جلال خود را به ما آشکار خواهد کرد. ما در کنار رودها و نهرهای وسیع زندگی خواهیم کرد ولی کشتی‌های دشمنان وارد آنها نخواهند شد.

²²For the LORD is our judge, the LORD is our lawgiver, the LORD is our king; he will save us.

²² تمام بادبانها و ریسمانهای آن کشتی‌ها بی‌فایده‌اند، بادبانهای آنها باز نمی‌شوند! تمام ثروت ارتش دشمن را تصاحب خواهیم کرد. این ثروت آن‌قدر زیاد است که حتّی یک آدم لنگ می‌تواند سهمی از آن ببرد. خداوند خودش پادشاه ما خواهد بود. او بر ما حکومت و از ما حمایت می‌کند. کسانی‌که در سرزمین ما زندگی می‌کنند، دیگر هیچ‌وقت از بیماری شکایت نمی‌کنند، و تمام گناهانشان بخشیده خواهد شد.

²³Thy tacklings are loosed; they could not well strengthen their mast, they could not spread the sail: then is the prey of a great spoil divided; the lame take the prey.

²³ کسانی‌که در سرزمین ما زندگی می‌کنند، دیگر هیچ‌وقت از بیماری شکایت نمی‌کنند، و تمام گناهانشان بخشیده خواهد شد.

²⁴And the inhabitant shall not say, I am sick: the people that dwell therein shall be forgiven their iniquity.
