¹Comfort ye, comfort ye my people, saith your God.

¹ خدای ما می‌گوید: «قوم مرا تسلّی دهید، آنها را تسلّی دهید!

²Speak ye comfortably to Jerusalem, and cry unto her, that her warfare is accomplished, that her iniquity is pardoned: for she hath received of the LORD's hand double for all her sins.

² مردم اورشلیم را دلگرم کنید. به ایشان بگویید رنجهایشان به پایان رسیده، و گناهانشان بخشیده شده است. به‌خاطر گناهانشان، من آنها را کاملاً مجازات کرده‌ام.»

³The voice of him that crieth in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the LORD, make straight in the desert a highway for our God.

³ مردی فریاد می‌زند و می‌گوید: «راهی برای خداوند در بیابان باز کنید! و شاهراهی برای خدای ما در کویر آماده سازید!

⁴Every valley shall be exalted, and every mountain and hill shall be made low: and the crooked shall be made straight, and the rough places plain:

⁴ هر درّه پر شود. و کوهها هم سطح شوند. تپّه‌ها به دشت مبدّل شوند، راههای کج راست، و راههای ناهموار، هموار خواهند شد.

⁵And the glory of the LORD shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together: for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken it.

⁵ آنگاه جلال خداوند آشکار خواهد شد، و تمام مردم آن را خواهند دید. خداوند خودش چنین گفته است.»

⁶The voice said, Cry. And he said, What shall I cry? All flesh is grass, and all the goodliness thereof is as the flower of the field:

⁶ ندا کننده‌ای می‌گوید: «این را اعلام کن!» پرسیدم: «چه خبر را اعلام کنم؟» «بگو که تمام آدمیان مثل علف هستند؛ و بیش از گل علف دوام ندارند.

⁷The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: because the spirit of the LORD bloweth upon it: surely the people is grass.

⁷ وقتی به ارادهٔ خداوند باد بر آنها می‌وزد، علفها پژمرده و گُلها خشک می‌شوند. انسان مثل گیاه زودگذر است

⁸The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall stand for ever.

⁸ آری، علفها پژمرده و گُلها می‌خشکند، امّا کلام خداوند تا ابد پایدار است.»

⁹O Zion, that bringest good tidings, get thee up into the high mountain; O Jerusalem, that bringest good tidings, lift up thy voice with strength; lift it up, be not afraid; say unto the cities of Judah, Behold your God!

⁹ برفراز کوهی بلند برو، و این خبر خوش را به اورشلیم اعلام کن. با صدای بلند فریاد بزن و این خبر خوش را به صهیون اعلام کن! فریاد بزن و ترسان نباش، به شهرهای یهودا بگو که خدای آنها می‌آید!

¹⁰Behold, the Lord GOD will come with strong hand, and his arm shall rule for him: behold, his reward is with him, and his work before him.

¹⁰ خداوند قادر متعال می‌آید تا با قدرت حکومت کند، او با خودش قومی را که نجات داده است، خواهد آورد.

¹¹He shall feed his flock like a shepherd: he shall gather the lambs with his arm, and carry them in his bosom, and shall gently lead those that are with young.

¹¹ او مثل یک شبان از گلّهٔ خود محافظت خواهد کرد. او برّه‌ها را با هم جمع می‌کند و آنها را در ‌آغوش خود به آغل می‌بَرد. و میش‌ها را هم با ملایمت، هدایت می‌کند.

¹²Who hath measured the waters in the hollow of his hand, and meted out heaven with the span, and comprehended the dust of the earth in a measure, and weighed the mountains in scales, and the hills in a balance?

¹² آیا کسی می‌تواند آب اقیانوسها را با کف دست خود، یا آسمان را با وجب‌های خویش اندازه بگیرد؟ آیا کسی می‌تواند تمام خاک زمین را در یک فنجان جای دهد، و یا کوهها و تپّه‌ها را در ترازویی وزن کند؟

¹³Who hath directed the Spirit of the LORD, or being his counsellor hath taught him?

¹³ چه کسی می‌تواند به خداوند بگوید که او باید چه کند؟ یا چه کسی می‌تواند به او تعلیم دهد یا او را نصیحت کند؟

¹⁴With whom took he counsel, and who instructed him, and taught him in the path of judgment, and taught him knowledge, and shewed to him the way of understanding?

¹⁴ خداوند با چه کسی مشورت می‌کند تا بداند، درک کند و بیاموزد چگونه هر چیزی می‌باید انجام شود؟

¹⁵Behold, the nations are as a drop of a bucket, and are counted as the small dust of the balance: behold, he taketh up the isles as a very little thing.

¹⁵ ملّتها در برابر او ناچیز و مثل یک قطرهٔ آب‌ می‌باشند. و جزایر دوردست برای او از غبار سبک‌ترند.

¹⁶And Lebanon is not sufficient to burn, nor the beasts thereof sufficient for a burnt offering.

¹⁶ تمام حیوانات جنگل‌های لبنان، برای قربانی در حضور خدای ما کافی نیست، و چوب تمام درختان آن نمی‌تواند آتش کافی ایجاد کند.

¹⁷All nations before him are as nothing; and they are counted to him less than nothing, and vanity.

¹⁷ ملّتها در برابر او به حساب نمی‌آیند.

¹⁸To whom then will ye liken God? or what likeness will ye compare unto him?

¹⁸ پس خدا را با چه کسی می‌توان مقایسه کرد؟ و به چه چیز می‌توان او را تشبیه و توصیف کرد؟

¹⁹The workman melteth a graven image, and the goldsmith spreadeth it over with gold, and casteth silver chains.

¹⁹ او مثل بُتی نیست که استادکاری آن را ساخته باشد، یا زرگری با طلا آن را روکش کند و با زنجیرهای نقره‌ای آن را بیاراید.

²⁰He that is so impoverished that he hath no oblation chooseth a tree that will not rot; he seeketh unto him a cunning workman to prepare a graven image, that shall not be moved.

²⁰ کسی‌که توانایی خرید بُتهای طلایی و نقره‌ای را نداشته باشد، بُتهای ساخته شده از چوبی را که نپوسد می‌گیرد. او صنعتکار ماهری را می‌یابد تا بُتی بسازد که ثابت باشد و به زمین نیفتد.

²¹Have ye not known? have ye not heard? hath it not been told you from the beginning? have ye not understood from the foundations of the earth?

²¹ آیا این را نمی‌دانید؟ آیا قبلاً به شما گفته نشده است؟ آیا نشنیده‌اید که دنیا چگونه شروع شد؟

²²It is he that sitteth upon the circle of the earth, and the inhabitants thereof are as grasshoppers; that stretcheth out the heavens as a curtain, and spreadeth them out as a tent to dwell in:

²² آن کس که آنها را به وجود آورده بر تخت خود، بر فراز زمین و در ورای آسمانها نشسته است. مردم روی زمین مثل مورچه‌های ریزی در حرکت‌ هستند، او آسمان را چون پرده‌ای گسترده و مثل خیمه‌ای برای زندگی پهن کرده است.

²³That bringeth the princes to nothing; he maketh the judges of the earth as vanity.

²³ او فرمانروایان زورمند را ساقط و آنها را نابود می‌کند.

²⁴Yea, they shall not be planted; yea, they shall not be sown: yea, their stock shall not take root in the earth: and he shall also blow upon them, and they shall wither, and the whirlwind shall take them away as stubble.

²⁴ آنها مثل نهال‌هایی هستند که تازه روییده‌اند و ریشهٔ آنها هنوز قوی نشده است. آن وقت خداوند بادی می‌وزاند و آنها را مثل کاه پراکنده می‌کند.

²⁵To whom then will ye liken me, or shall I be equal? saith the Holy One.

²⁵ خدای قدّوس را با چه کسی می‌توان مقایسه کرد؟ آیا کس دیگری شبیه او وجود دارد؟

²⁶Lift up your eyes on high, and behold who hath created these things, that bringeth out their host by number: he calleth them all by names by the greatness of his might, for that he is strong in power; not one faileth.

²⁶ به آسمان نگاه کنید! چه کسی این ستارگان را آفریده است؟ و چه کسی آنها را چون یک ارتش هدایت می‌کند؟ او تعداد آنها و نام هریک از آنها را می‌داند! او آن‌قدر تواناست که هرگز حتّی یکی از آنها گُم نمی‌شود.

²⁷Why sayest thou, O Jacob, and speakest, O Israel, My way is hid from the LORD, and my judgment is passed over from my God?

²⁷ ای اسرائیل، پس چرا شکایت می‌کنی و می‌گویی که خداوند از مصیبت‌های تو آگاه نیست، یا توجهی به بی‌عدالتی‌هایی که متحمّل می‌شوی، ندارد؟

²⁸Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard, that the everlasting God, the LORD, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary? there is no searching of his understanding.

²⁸ آیا نمی‌دانید؟ آیا نشنیده‌اید؟ خداوند، خدای جاودان است. او تمام جهان را آفریده، و هیچ‌وقت خسته یا فرسوده نخواهد شد. هیچ‌کسی افکار او را درک نمی‌کند.

²⁹He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength.

²⁹ او به افراد ضعیف و خسته نیرو می‌بخشد.

³⁰Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall:

³⁰ حتّی جوانان نیروی خود را از دست می‌دهند و مردان جوان از خستگی می‌افتند. امّا کسانی‌که برای کمک به خداوند توکّل می‌کنند، نیروی تازه می‌یابند. آنها مثل عقاب پرواز خواهند کرد، و از دویدن، خسته و از راه رفتن، فرسوده نخواهند شد.

³¹But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.

³¹ امّا کسانی‌که برای کمک به خداوند توکّل می‌کنند، نیروی تازه می‌یابند. آنها مثل عقاب پرواز خواهند کرد، و از دویدن، خسته و از راه رفتن، فرسوده نخواهند شد.
