¹Keep silence before me, O islands; and let the people renew their strength: let them come near; then let them speak: let us come near together to judgment.

¹ خداوند می‌‌گوید: «ای جزایر دوردست ساکت باشید و به من گوش دهید! حاضر شوید و دعوی خود را در دادگاه ارائه کنید، در دفاع از خود صحبت کنید. بیایید با هم تصمیم بگیریم و ببینیم حق با کیست.

²Who raised up the righteous man from the east, called him to his foot, gave the nations before him, and made him rule over kings? he gave them as the dust to his sword, and as driven stubble to his bow.

² «چه کسی آن فاتح را از شرق آورد و در همه‌جا به او پیروزی می‌‌دهد؟ چه کسی او را بر پادشاهان و ملّتها پیروز می‌گرداند؟ زیر ضربات شمشیرش، همه مثل گرد و خاک خُرد می‌شوند. تیرهایش همه را مثل کاه در برابر باد پراکنده می‌کند.

³He pursued them, and passed safely; even by the way that he had not gone with his feet.

³ او آنها را تعقیب می‌کند و با خیال راحت پیش می‌رود و با چنان سرعتی حرکت می‌کند که گویی پاهایش زمین را لمس نمی‌کنند.

⁴Who hath wrought and done it, calling the generations from the beginning? I the LORD, the first, and with the last; I am he.

⁴ باعث این اتّفاقات کیست؟ چه کسی مسیر تاریخ را تعیین کرده است؟ من، خداوند، در ابتدا آنجا بودم، و من، خداوند خدا، در پایان کار هم در آنجا خواهم بود.

⁵The isles saw it, and feared; the ends of the earth were afraid, drew near, and came.

⁵ «مردمان سرزمینهای دوردست آنچه را که من کرده‌ام، دیده‌اند. آنها ترسیدند و از ترس برخود می‌لرزند. پس آنها همه با هم نزدیک می‌شوند.

⁶They helped every one his neighbour; and every one said to his brother, Be of good courage.

⁶ صنعت‌کاران کمک می‌کنند و یکدیگر را تشویق می‌نمایند.

⁷So the carpenter encouraged the goldsmith, and he that smootheth with the hammer him that smote the anvil, saying, It is ready for the sodering: and he fastened it with nails, that it should not be moved.

⁷ نجّار، به زرگر آفرین می‌گوید، و صیقل دهندهٔ بت، آن کسی را که بت را میخ می‌کند، تشویق می‌کند. آنها می‌گویند: 'لحیم آن خوب است!' و آن وقت آنها بت را با میخ در جای خودش محکم می‌کنند تا تکان نخورد.

⁸But thou, Israel, art my servant, Jacob whom I have chosen, the seed of Abraham my friend.

⁸ «امّا تو ای اسرائیل، ای بندهٔ من، تو قوم برگزیده من و از نسل ابراهیم -‌دوست من- هستی.

⁹Thou whom I have taken from the ends of the earth, and called thee from the chief men thereof, and said unto thee, Thou art my servant; I have chosen thee, and not cast thee away.

⁹ من تو را از دورترین قسمت‌های جهان آورده‌ام، و از دورترین نقاط تو را خواندم، و به تو گفتم: 'تو بندهٔ من هستی، من تو را رد نکردم، تو را برگزیدم.'

¹⁰Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.

¹⁰ نترس، من با تو هستم! من خدای تو هستم! از هیچ چیز تراسان مباش، من تو را تقویت می‌کنم و به تو کمک خواهم کرد. من از تو حمایت می‌کنم و تو را نجات خواهم داد.

¹¹Behold, all they that were incensed against thee shall be ashamed and confounded: they shall be as nothing; and they that strive with thee shall perish.

¹¹ «آنها که از تو خشمگین هستند، شرم شکست را خواهند دانست. و آنها که با تو بجنگند خواهند مرد،

¹²Thou shalt seek them, and shalt not find them, even them that contended with thee: they that war against thee shall be as nothing, and as a thing of nought.

¹² و از روی زمین محو خواهند شد.

¹³For I the LORD thy God will hold thy right hand, saying unto thee, Fear not; I will help thee.

¹³ من خداوند، خدای تو هستم، من تو را تقویت می‌کنم و به تو می‌گویم، 'نترس، من با تو هستم.'»

¹⁴Fear not, thou worm Jacob, and ye men of Israel; I will help thee, saith the LORD, and thy redeemer, the Holy One of Israel.

¹⁴ خداوند می‌گوید: «ای اسرائیل، گرچه کوچک و ضعیفی، امّا نترس، من به تو کمک خواهم کرد. من، خدای قدّوس اسرائیل، همان کسی هستم که تو را نجات خواهد داد.

¹⁵Behold, I will make thee a new sharp threshing instrument having teeth: thou shalt thresh the mountains, and beat them small, and shalt make the hills as chaff.

¹⁵ من تو را مانند خرمنکوبی، با تیغکهای نو و تیز خواهم ساخت. تو کوهها را درهم می‌کوبی و تپّه‌ها را مثل خاک خُرد خواهی کرد.

¹⁶Thou shalt fan them, and the wind shall carry them away, and the whirlwind shall scatter them: and thou shalt rejoice in the LORD, and shalt glory in the Holy One of Israel.

¹⁶ تو آنها را به هوا پرت می‌کنی و توفانی آنها را پراکنده خواهد ساخت. آن وقت شادمان خواهی شد چون من خدای تو هستم. و من -‌خدای قدّوس اسرائیل- را ستایش خواهی کرد.

¹⁷When the poor and needy seek water, and there is none, and their tongue faileth for thirst, I the LORD will hear them, I the God of Israel will not forsake them.

¹⁷ «وقتی قوم من احتیاج به آب دارند، و گلوی آنها از تشنگی خشک شده، آن وقت من خداوند به دعای آنها پاسخ می‌دهم، من، خدای اسرائیل هیچ‌وقت آنها را ترک نخواهم کرد.

¹⁸I will open rivers in high places, and fountains in the midst of the valleys: I will make the wilderness a pool of water, and the dry land springs of water.

¹⁸ من در تپّه‌ای بی‌آب و علف نهرهای آب جاری خواهم ساخت، و چشمه‌های آب در دشتها روان خواهد شد. من بیابانهای خشک را به برکه‌های آب مبدّل خواهم ساخت، و زمین خشک را به چشمه‌‌های روان.

¹⁹I will plant in the wilderness the cedar, the shittah tree, and the myrtle, and the oil tree; I will set in the desert the fir tree, and the pine, and the box tree together:

¹⁹ من در بیابان درختان سرو، اقاقیا، مورد سبز و زیتون خواهم رویانید. در زمینهای بایر، جنگلها خواهد رویید، جنگلهایی از درختان کاج و سرو و چنار.

²⁰That they may see, and know, and consider, and understand together, that the hand of the LORD hath done this, and the Holy One of Israel hath created it.

²⁰ مردم این را خواهند دید، و خواهند دانست که من، خداوند، این کار را کرده‌ام. آنها بالاخره خواهند فهمید که خدای قدّوس اسرائیل همهٔ این کارها را کرده است.»

²¹Produce your cause, saith the LORD; bring forth your strong reasons, saith the King of Jacob.

²¹ خداوند، پادشاه اسرائیل، چنین می‌گوید: «ای خدایان ملّتها، دعوی خود را ارائه، و قانع کننده‌ترین دلیلهای خود را مطرح کنید!

²²Let them bring them forth, and shew us what shall happen: let them shew the former things, what they be, that we may consider them, and know the latter end of them; or declare us things for to come.

²² بیایید و بگویید چه چیز در حال وقوع است، تا معنی آن را وقتی واقع می‌شود، بدانیم. اتّفاقات گذشته را برای دادگاه بیان کنید و معنی آن را به ما بگویید.

²³Shew the things that are to come hereafter, that we may know that ye are gods: yea, do good, or do evil, that we may be dismayed, and behold it together.

²³ حوادث آینده را به ما بگویید، آنگاه خواهیم دانست که شما خدایان هستید! باعث امر خیری شوید، یا بلایی نازل کنید، ما را بترسانید و متحیّر کنید.

²⁴Behold, ye are of nothing, and your work of nought: an abomination is he that chooseth you.

²⁴ شما چیزی نیستید و کارتان هم پوچ است، و آنها که شما را می‌پرستند، آدمهای ذلیلی هستند.

²⁵I have raised up one from the north, and he shall come: from the rising of the sun shall he call upon my name: and he shall come upon princes as upon morter, and as the potter treadeth clay.

²⁵ «کسی را از مشرق برگزیده‌ام، تا از شمال حمله کند. او حکمرانان را مثل گِل لگدمال، و همچون کوزه‌گری آنها را مانند گِل پایمال می‌کند.

²⁶Who hath declared from the beginning, that we may know? and beforetime, that we may say, He is righteous? yea, there is none that sheweth, yea, there is none that declareth, yea, there is none that heareth your words.

²⁶ کدام‌یک از شما، این را پیش بینی کرده بود، تا ما می‌توانستیم بگوییم که حقّ با شما بود؟ هیچ‌یک از شما حتّی یک کلمه دربارهٔ آن چیزی نگفت، و هیچ‌کس چیزی از شما نشنید.

²⁷The first shall say to Zion, Behold, behold them: and I will give to Jerusalem one that bringeth good tidings.

²⁷ من، خداوند، برای اولین بار این خبر را به صهیون دادم، من قاصدی به اورشلیم فرستادم تا بگوید، 'قوم شما می‌آیند، آنها به وطن خودشان برمی‌گردند.'

²⁸For I beheld, and there was no man; even among them, and there was no counsellor, that, when I asked of them, could answer a word.

²⁸ وقتی به جمع خدایان نگاه کردم، هیچ‌کدام چیزی برای گفتن نداشتند، و هیچ‌یک نتوانستند به سؤالات من جواب بدهند. این خدایان همه پوچ هستند، هیچ‌کاری نمی‌کنند. این بُتها همه ضعیف و ناتوانند.»

²⁹Behold, they are all vanity; their works are nothing: their molten images are wind and confusion.
