¹Yet now hear, O Jacob my servant; and Israel, whom I have chosen:

¹ خداوند می‌گوید: «ای اسرائیل، ای بندهٔ من، ای فرزندان یعقوب و قوم برگزیدهٔ من، گوش کنید!

²Thus saith the LORD that made thee, and formed thee from the womb, which will help thee; Fear not, O Jacob, my servant; and thou, Jesurun, whom I have chosen.

² من خداوندی هستم که تو را آفریده‌ام، از روز تولّدت، از تو حمایت کرده‌ام. نترس، تو بندهٔ من و قوم برگزیده و محبوب من هستی.

³For I will pour water upon him that is thirsty, and floods upon the dry ground: I will pour my spirit upon thy seed, and my blessing upon thine offspring:

³ «من به زمین تشنه آب می‌دهم و در زمینهای خشک، نهرهای آب جاری خواهم ساخت. روح خود را بر فرزندانت و برکت خویش را در خاندانت خواهم ریخت.

⁴And they shall spring up as among the grass, as willows by the water courses.

⁴ آنها مثل گیاهان در زمینهای پر آب و مانند درختان بید، در مسیر نهر آب رشد خواهند کرد.

⁵One shall say, I am the LORD's; and another shall call himself by the name of Jacob; and another shall subscribe with his hand unto the LORD, and surname himself by the name of Israel.

⁵ «همهٔ مردم -‌یکی یکی- می‌آیند و خواهند گفت: 'من از آن خداوندم.' آنها می‌آیند تا به قوم اسرائیل ملحق شوند. همه، نام خداوند را بر بازوی خود می‌نویسند، و خود را عضوی از قوم اسرائیل می‌دانند.»

⁶Thus saith the LORD the King of Israel, and his redeemer the LORD of hosts; I am the first, and I am the last; and beside me there is no God.

⁶ خداوندی که فرمانروایی می‌کند و حامی اسرائیل است، خداوند متعال چنین می‌گوید: «من اول و آخر و تنها خدا هستم، و خدایی غیراز من وجود ندارد.

⁷And who, as I, shall call, and shall declare it, and set it in order for me, since I appointed the ancient people? and the things that are coming, and shall come, let them shew unto them.

⁷ آیا کس دیگری می‌توانست آنچه را من کرده‌ام، بکند؟ چه کسی می‌توانست مثل من تمام وقایع را، از ابتدا تا روز آخر این‌طور پیشگویی کند؟

⁸Fear ye not, neither be afraid: have not I told thee from that time, and have declared it? ye are even my witnesses. Is there a God beside me? yea, there is no God; I know not any.

⁸ ای قوم من ترسان نباش. تو می‌دانی که از زمانهای قدیم تا امروز من هرچه را که می‌بایست واقع شود، از پیش گفتم، و شما شاهدان من هستید. آیا خدای دیگری هست؟ آیا خدای توانای دیگری وجود دارد که من درباره‌اش نشنیده باشم؟»

⁹They that make a graven image are all of them vanity; and their delectable things shall not profit; and they are their own witnesses; they see not, nor know; that they may be ashamed.

⁹ تمام کسانی‌که بُتها را می‌سازند، آدمهای بی‌ارزشی هستند و خدایانی را که آن‌قدر گرامی می‌دارند، بی‌فایده‌اند. آنها که چنین خدایانی را می‌پرستند، کور و احمقند و شرمسار خواهند شد.

¹⁰Who hath formed a god, or molten a graven image that is profitable for nothing?

¹⁰ فایده‌ای ندارد که از فلز شمایلی ساخته و بعد آن را به عنوان خدا پرستش کرد.

¹¹Behold, all his fellows shall be ashamed: and the workmen, they are of men: let them all be gathered together, let them stand up; yet they shall fear, and they shall be ashamed together.

¹¹ هرکس آنها را بپرستد، پَست خواهد شد. کسانی‌که بُتها را می‌سازند انسانهایی بیش نیستند. بگذارید آنها به دادگاه برای محاکمه حاضر شوند، در نتیجه به وحشت خواهند افتاد و متحمّل شرمساری خواهند شد.

¹²The smith with the tongs both worketh in the coals, and fashioneth it with hammers, and worketh it with the strength of his arms: yea, he is hungry, and his strength faileth: he drinketh no water, and is faint.

¹² فلزکاری، فلزی را برمی‌دارد و روی آتش با آن کار می‌کند. با بازوی توانایش آن‌قدر با پُتک آن را می‌کوبد تا شکل دلخواه را بگیرد. او وقتی کار می‌کند گرسنه، تشنه و خسته می‌شود.

¹³The carpenter stretcheth out his rule; he marketh it out with a line; he fitteth it with planes, and he marketh it out with the compass, and maketh it after the figure of a man, according to the beauty of a man; that it may remain in the house.

¹³ نجّار چوب را اندازه می‌گیرد. با گچ تصویری را روی آن رسم می‌کند و با ابزار خود آن را می‌بُرّد و به صورت یک انسان -‌انسانی با اندام زیبا- درمی‌آورد و آن وقت آن را در خانهٔ خودش می‌گذارد.

¹⁴He heweth him down cedars, and taketh the cypress and the oak, which he strengtheneth for himself among the trees of the forest: he planteth an ash, and the rain doth nourish it.

¹⁴ او می‌توانست برای این منظور از چوب درخت سرو، کاج و یا درختی دیگر از جنگل استفاده کند. او همچنین می‌توانست درخت تازه‌ای بکارد و منتظر بماند تا باران ببارد و آن رشد کند.

¹⁵Then shall it be for a man to burn: for he will take thereof, and warm himself; yea, he kindleth it, and baketh bread; yea, he maketh a god, and worshippeth it; he maketh it a graven image, and falleth down thereto.

¹⁵ او قسمتی از چوب درخت را برای سوخت به کار می‌بَرَد و قسمت دیگری را برای ساختن بت. از قسمتی از آن چوب برای برافروختن آتشی برای گرم کردن خودش و پختن نان استفاده می‌کند و با قسمتی دیگر خدایی می‌سازد و آن را پرستش می‌کند.

¹⁶He burneth part thereof in the fire; with part thereof he eateth flesh; he roasteth roast, and is satisfied: yea, he warmeth himself, and saith, Aha, I am warm, I have seen the fire:

¹⁶ با قسمتی از آن چوب، آتشی برای کباب کردن گوشت درست می‌کند، آن را می‌خورد و سیر می‌شود. او خود را با آن آتش گرم می‌کند و می‌گوید: «چه گرم و چه خوب است.»

¹⁷And the residue thereof he maketh a god, even his graven image: he falleth down unto it, and worshippeth it, and prayeth unto it, and saith, Deliver me; for thou art my god.

¹⁷ با بقیّهٔ چوب بُتی می‌سازد، در برابر آن تعظیم می‌کند و آن را می‌پرستد. در مقابلش دعا می‌‌کند و می‌گوید: «تو خدای من هستی، مرا نجات بده!»

¹⁸They have not known nor understood: for he hath shut their eyes, that they cannot see; and their hearts, that they cannot understand.

¹⁸ چنین مردمی آن‌قدر احمق هستند که نمی‌توانند بفهمند چه می‌کنند. آنها چشمها و ذهنهای خود را در برابر حقیقت بسته‌اند.

¹⁹And none considereth in his heart, neither is there knowledge nor understanding to say, I have burned part of it in the fire; yea, also I have baked bread upon the coals thereof; I have roasted flesh, and eaten it: and shall I make the residue thereof an abomination? shall I fall down to the stock of a tree?

¹⁹ سازندهٔ بت آن‌قدر عقل و شعور ندارد که به خود بگوید: «قسمتی از چوب را سوزاندم، روی آتش آن نان پختم، گوشت را کباب کردم و خوردم و با بقیّهٔ آن بُتی ساختم. پس اکنون در برابر یک تکه چوب تعظیم می‌کنم.»

²⁰He feedeth on ashes: a deceived heart hath turned him aside, that he cannot deliver his soul, nor say, Is there not a lie in my right hand?

²⁰ این کار مانند خوردن خاکستر، بی‌معنی است. عقاید احمقانه‌اش چنان او را گمراه ساخته که هیچ‌کس دیگری نمی‌تواند به او کمکی کند. او نمی‌تواند بپذیرد بُتی که در دست گرفته، اصلاً خدا نیست.

²¹Remember these, O Jacob and Israel; for thou art my servant: I have formed thee; thou art my servant: O Israel, thou shalt not be forgotten of me.

²¹ خداوند می‌گوید: «ای اسرائیل، این را به‌خاطر داشته باش و به یاد بیاور که تو بندهٔ من هستی. من تو را آفریدم که بندهٔ من باشی و هیچ‌وقت تو را فراموش نمی‌کنم.

²²I have blotted out, as a thick cloud, thy transgressions, and, as a cloud, thy sins: return unto me; for I have redeemed thee.

²² من گناهان تو را مثل ابر کنار زدم. به نزد من بازگرد. من همان کسی هستم که تو را نجات می‌دهد.»

²³Sing, O ye heavens; for the LORD hath done it: shout, ye lower parts of the earth: break forth into singing, ye mountains, O forest, and every tree therein: for the LORD hath redeemed Jacob, and glorified himself in Israel.

²³ ای آسمانها، از شادی فریاد برآورید، ای اعماق زمین صدای خود را بلند کنید. ای کوهستان‌ها و تمام درختان جنگل از شادی فریاد بزنید! خداوند، بزرگی خود را با نجات قوم خودش اسرائیل نشان داده است.

²⁴Thus saith the LORD, thy redeemer, and he that formed thee from the womb, I am the LORD that maketh all things; that stretcheth forth the heavens alone; that spreadeth abroad the earth by myself;

²⁴ «من خداوند، و منجی تو هستم. من تو را آفریدم. من خداوند و آفریدگار همه‌ چیز هستم. من به تنهایی آسمانها را گسترانیدم، و وقتی زمین را به وجود آوردم کسی به من کمک نکرد.

²⁵That frustrateth the tokens of the liars, and maketh diviners mad; that turneth wise men backward, and maketh their knowledge foolish;

²⁵ من حماقت فالگیران و جهالت رمّالان را آشکار می‌کنم. من گفتار حکیمان را رد می‌کنم و نشان می‌دهم که حکمت آنها حماقت است.

²⁶That confirmeth the word of his servant, and performeth the counsel of his messengers; that saith to Jerusalem, Thou shalt be inhabited; and to the cities of Judah, Ye shall be built, and I will raise up the decayed places thereof:

²⁶ امّا وقتی بندهٔ من پیشگویی‌ای می‌کند، یا وقتی من نبی‌ای می‌فرستم که خواستهٔ مرا بیان‌ کند، من آن خواسته و آن پیشگویی‌ها را تحقّق می‌بخشم. من به اورشلیم می‌گویم که مردم بار دیگر در آن زندگی خواهند کرد، و شهرهای یهودا بار دیگر ساخته خواهد شد. آن شهرها گویی از ویرانه‌ها برخاسته‌اند.

²⁷That saith to the deep, Be dry, and I will dry up thy rivers:

²⁷ با فرمان من اقیانوسها خشک می‌شوند. من به کوروش می‌گویم: 'تو از طرف من حکومت خواهی کرد. تو کاری را خواهی کرد که من می‌خواهم انجام دهی: تو دستور خواهی داد که اورشلیم بازسازی شود، و بنیاد معبد بزرگ گذاشته شود.'»

²⁸That saith of Cyrus, He is my shepherd, and shall perform all my pleasure: even saying to Jerusalem, Thou shalt be built; and to the temple, Thy foundation shall be laid.

²⁸ من به کوروش می‌گویم: 'تو از طرف من حکومت خواهی کرد. تو کاری را خواهی کرد که من می‌خواهم انجام دهی: تو دستور خواهی داد که اورشلیم بازسازی شود، و بنیاد معبد بزرگ گذاشته شود.'»
