¹The burden of the word of the LORD to Israel by Malachi.

¹ این پیامی است که خداوند توسط ملاکی به اسرائیل داد:

²I have loved you, saith the LORD. Yet ye say, Wherein hast thou loved us? Was not Esau Jacob's brother? saith the LORD: yet I loved Jacob,

² خداوند می‌فرماید: «من همیشه عاشق شما بوده‌ام.» امّا شما می‌پرسید: «تو چگونه عشق خود را به ما نشان داده‌‌ای؟» خداوند در پاسخ می‌فرماید: «عیسو و یعقوب دو برادر بودند. امّا من یعقوب و نسل او را دوست داشتم، امّا از عیسو نفرت داشتم. سرزمین کوهستانی او را ویران کردم و آنجا را مسکن شغالها ساختم.»

³And I hated Esau, and laid his mountains and his heritage waste for the dragons of the wilderness.

³ اگر اَدومیان که از نسل عیسو هستند بگویند: «شهرهای ما ویران شده‌اند، امّا آنها را بازسازی می‌کنیم.» ولی خداوند متعال می‌فرماید: «هرچند آنها شهرهای خود را بازسازی کنند، من دوباره آن را ویران خواهم ساخت و سرزمین آنها 'سرزمین شرارت' و خودشان 'مردمی که خداوند تا ابد از آنها خشمگین می‌باشد' نامیده خواهند شد.»

⁴Whereas Edom saith, We are impoverished, but we will return and build the desolate places; thus saith the LORD of hosts, They shall build, but I will throw down; and they shall call them, The border of wickedness, and, The people against whom the LORD hath indignation for ever.

⁴ هنگامی که شما اینها را با چشم خود ببینید، خواهید گفت: «بزرگی و عظمت خداوند در آن‌سوی مرزهای اسرائیل نیز مشاهده می‌شود.»

⁵And your eyes shall see, and ye shall say, The LORD will be magnified from the border of Israel.

⁵ خداوند متعال به کاهنان می‌فرماید: «پسر، به پدر خود و غلام به آقای خود احترام می‌گذارد، پس اگر من پدر شما هستم، چرا به من احترام نمی‌گذارید؟ و اگر ارباب شما هستم، پس حرمت من کجاست؟ ای کاهنان، شما نام مرا بی‌حرمت ساخته و می‌گویید: 'چطور نام تو را بی‌حرمت کرده‌ایم؟'

⁶A son honoureth his father, and a servant his master: if then I be a father, where is mine honour? and if I be a master, where is my fear? saith the LORD of hosts unto you, O priests, that despise my name. And ye say, Wherein have we despised thy name?

⁶ هنگامی‌که شما خوراکهای ناپاک بر قربانگاه من می‌گذارید، نام مرا بی‌حرمت می‌سازید. بلی، شما با این کار خود، به قربانگاه من اهانت می‌کنید.

⁷Ye offer polluted bread upon mine altar; and ye say, Wherein have we polluted thee? In that ye say, The table of the LORD is contemptible.

⁷ آیا این کار شما زشت نیست که یک حیوان کور یا لنگ و یا بیمار را برای من قربانی می‌کنید؟ اگر آن را به حاکم خود هدیه بدهید، آیا او آن را خواهد پذیرفت و از شما راضی خواهد بود؟»

⁸And if ye offer the blind for sacrifice, is it not evil? and if ye offer the lame and sick, is it not evil? offer it now unto thy governor; will he be pleased with thee, or accept thy person? saith the LORD of hosts.

⁸ اکنون شما ای کاهنان توقع دارید که خدا بر شما رحم کند و شما را از فیض خود بهره‌مند سازد. خداوند متعال می‌فرماید که تقصیر خود شماست.

⁹And now, I pray you, beseech God that he will be gracious unto us: this hath been by your means: will he regard your persons? saith the LORD of hosts.

⁹ ای کاش یکی از شما کاهنان درهای معبد بزرگ را ببندد تا کسی نتواند آتش بر قربانگاه من روشن کند. من از شما راضی نیستم و قربانی‌های شما را نمی‌پسندم.

¹⁰Who is there even among you that would shut the doors for nought? neither do ye kindle fire on mine altar for nought. I have no pleasure in you, saith the LORD of hosts, neither will I accept an offering at your hand.

¹⁰ نام من در سراسر روی زمین و در بین تمام اقوام جهان با احترام یاد می‌شود و برای من بُخور خوشبو دود می‌کنند و قربانی‌های پسندیده تقدیم می‌کنند.

¹¹For from the rising of the sun even unto the going down of the same my name shall be great among the Gentiles; and in every place incense shall be offered unto my name, and a pure offering: for my name shall be great among the heathen, saith the LORD of hosts.

¹¹ امّا شما نام مرا بی‌حرمت می‌سازید، زیرا می‌گویید که قربانگاه خداوند ناپاک و غذای آن مکروه است.

¹²But ye have profaned it, in that ye say, The table of the LORD is polluted; and the fruit thereof, even his meat, is contemptible.

¹² خداوند متعال می‌‌فرماید: «شما می‌گویید خدمتی که برای من می‌کنید خسته کننده است و روی خود را از من برمی‌گردانید. شما حیواناتی را که بزور از مردم گرفته‌اید و آنها‌یی را که لنگ یا بیمارند، به عنوان قربانی برای من می‌آورید! آیا فکر می‌کنید که من آنها را می‌پذیرم؟ لعنت بر کسی‌که فریب بدهد، یعنی نذر کند که قوچ سالمی را از گلّهٔ خود قربانی کند ولی حیوان معیوبی را بیاورد. من پادشاه بزرگ و با عظمت هستم و نام من در بین اقوام جهان با عزّت و احترام یاد می‌شود.»

¹³Ye said also, Behold, what a weariness is it! and ye have snuffed at it, saith the LORD of hosts; and ye brought that which was torn, and the lame, and the sick; thus ye brought an offering: should I accept this of your hand? saith the LORD.

¹³ لعنت بر کسی‌که فریب بدهد، یعنی نذر کند که قوچ سالمی را از گلّهٔ خود قربانی کند ولی حیوان معیوبی را بیاورد. من پادشاه بزرگ و با عظمت هستم و نام من در بین اقوام جهان با عزّت و احترام یاد می‌شود.»

¹⁴But cursed be the deceiver, which hath in his flock a male, and voweth, and sacrificeth unto the LORD a corrupt thing: for I am a great King, saith the LORD of hosts, and my name is dreadful among the heathen.
