¹And it came to pass, that when Jesus had finished these sayings, he departed from Galilee, and came into the coasts of Judaea beyond Jordan;

¹ وقتی عیسی این سخنان را به پایان رسانید، جلیل را ترک كرد و به نواحی یهودیه در آن طرف رود اردن رفت.

²And great multitudes followed him; and he healed them there.

² جمعیّت زیادی به دنبال او رفتند و عیسی آنها را در آنجا شفا داد.

³The Pharisees also came unto him, tempting him, and saying unto him, Is it lawful for a man to put away his wife for every cause?

³ بعضی از فریسیان هم پیش او آمده از روی امتحان از او پرسیدند: «آیا جایز است كه مرد به هر علّتی كه بخواهد زن خود را طلاق دهد؟»

⁴And he answered and said unto them, Have ye not read, that he which made them at the beginning made them male and female,

⁴ عیسی در جواب از آنها پرسید: «آیا تا به حال نخوانده‌اید كه پروردگار از ابتدا انسان را زن و مرد آفرید؟

⁵And said, For this cause shall a man leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and they twain shall be one flesh?

⁵ به این سبب است كه مرد، پدر و مادر خود را ترک می‌کند و به زن خود می‌پیوندد و آن دو یکی می‌شوند.

⁶Wherefore they are no more twain, but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder.

⁶ از این رو آنها دیگر دو تن نیستند بلكه یکی هستند، پس آنچه را كه خدا به هم پیوسته است انسان نباید جدا سازد.»

⁷They say unto him, Why did Moses then command to give a writing of divorcement, and to put her away?

⁷ آنها پرسیدند: «پس چرا موسی اجازه داد كه مرد با دادن یک طلاق‌نامه به زن خود از او جدا شود؟»

⁸He saith unto them, Moses because of the hardness of your hearts suffered you to put away your wives: but from the beginning it was not so.

⁸ عیسی در جواب گفت: «به‌خاطر سنگدلی شما بود كه موسی اجازه داد از زن خود جدا شوید، ولی از ابتدای خلقت چنین نبود.

⁹And I say unto you, Whosoever shall put away his wife, except it be for fornication, and shall marry another, committeth adultery: and whoso marrieth her which is put away doth commit adultery.

⁹ امّا من به شما می‌گویم هرکس زن خود را به هر علّتی به جز علّت زنا طلاق دهد و با زن دیگری ازدواج نماید مرتكب زنا می‌شود.»

¹⁰His disciples say unto him, If the case of the man be so with his wife, it is not good to marry.

¹⁰ شاگردان به او گفتند: «اگر شوهر در مقابل زنش باید چنین وضعی داشته باشد، بهتر است كه دیگر كسی ازدواج نكند.»

¹¹But he said unto them, All men cannot receive this saying, save they to whom it is given.

¹¹ عیسی به آنها گفت: «همه نمی‌توانند این تعلیم را قبول كنند، مگر کسانی‌که استعداد آن را داشته باشند.

¹²For there are some eunuchs, which were so born from their mother's womb: and there are some eunuchs, which were made eunuchs of men: and there be eunuchs, which have made themselves eunuchs for the kingdom of heaven's sake. He that is able to receive it, let him receive it.

¹² بعضی‌ها طوری به دنیا آمده‌اند كه اصلاً نمی‌توانند ازدواج كنند، عدّه‌ای هم به دست انسان مقطوع‌النّسل شده‌اند و عدّه‌ای نیز به‌خاطر پادشاهی آسمان از ازدواج خودداری می‌کنند. بنابراین هرکس قدرت اجرای این تعلیم را دارد، آن را بپذیرد.»

¹³Then were there brought unto him little children, that he should put his hands on them, and pray: and the disciples rebuked them.

¹³ در این وقت عدّه‌ای از مردم، بچّه‌های کوچک را پیش عیسی آوردند تا او دست خود را بر سر آنها بگذارد و برای آنها دعا كند. امّا شاگردان آنها را به‌خاطر این كار سرزنش كردند.

¹⁴But Jesus said, Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven.

¹⁴ امّا عیسی به آنان فرمود: «بگذارید بچّه‌های کوچک نزد من بیایند و مانع آنان نشوید، زیرا پادشاهی آسمان به چنین كسانی تعلّق دارد.»

¹⁵And he laid his hands on them, and departed thence.

¹⁵ عیسی دست خود را بر سر كودكان گذاشت و سپس از آنجا رفت.

¹⁶And, behold, one came and said unto him, Good Master, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life?

¹⁶ در این هنگام مردی جلو آمد و از عیسی پرسید: «ای استاد چه كار نیكی باید بكنم تا بتوانم حیات جاودانی را به دست آورم؟»

¹⁷And he said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments.

¹⁷ عیسی به او گفت: «چرا دربارهٔ نیكی از من سؤال می‌کنی؟ فقط یکی نیكوست. امّا اگر تو مایل هستی به حیات وارد شوی، احكام شریعت را نگاه‌دار.»

¹⁸He saith unto him, Which? Jesus said, Thou shalt do no murder, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness,

¹⁸ او پرسید: «كدام احكام؟» عیسی در جواب فرمود: «قتل مكن، زنا مكن، دزدی نكن، شهادت دروغ نده،

¹⁹Honour thy father and thy mother: and, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

¹⁹ احترام پدر و مادر خود را نگاه‌دار و همسایه‌‌ات را مانند جان خود دوست بدار.»

²⁰The young man saith unto him, All these things have I kept from my youth up: what lack I yet?

²⁰ آن جوان پاسخ داد: «من همهٔ اینها را نگاه داشته‌ام، دیگر چه چیزی كم دارم؟»

²¹Jesus said unto him, If thou wilt be perfect, go and sell that thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come and follow me.

²¹ عیسی به او فرمود: «اگر می‌خواهی كامل باشی برو، دارایی خود را بفروش و به بیچارگان بده تا برای تو در عالم بالا ثروتی اندوخته شود. آن وقت بیا و از من پیروی كن.»

²²But when the young man heard that saying, he went away sorrowful: for he had great possessions.

²² وقتی آن جوان این را شنید با دلی افسرده از آنجا رفت زیرا ثروت بسیار داشت.

²³Then said Jesus unto his disciples, Verily I say unto you, That a rich man shall hardly enter into the kingdom of heaven.

²³ عیسی به شاگردان خود فرمود: «بدانید كه ورود دولتمندان به پادشاهی آسمان بسیار دشوار است،

²⁴And again I say unto you, It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.

²⁴ باز هم می‌گویم كه گذشتن شتر از سوراخ سوزن آسانتر است تا ورود یک شخص دولتمند به پادشاهی خدا.»

²⁵When his disciples heard it, they were exceedingly amazed, saying, Who then can be saved?

²⁵ شاگردان از شنیدن این سخن سخت ناراحت شده پرسیدند: «پس چه كسی می‌تواند نجات بیابد؟»

²⁶But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.

²⁶ عیسی به آنان نگاه كرد و فرمود: «برای انسان این محال است ولی برای خدا همه‌چیز ممكن می‌باشد.»

²⁷Then answered Peter and said unto him, Behold, we have forsaken all, and followed thee; what shall we have therefore?

²⁷ پطرس در جواب به او گفت: «ما كه همه‌چیز را ترک كرده و به دنبال تو آمده‌ایم، پاداش ما چه خواهد بود؟»

²⁸And Jesus said unto them, Verily I say unto you, That ye which have followed me, in the regeneration when the Son of man shall sit in the throne of his glory, ye also shall sit upon twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.

²⁸ عیسی پاسخ داد: «در حقیقت به شما می‌گویم كه در دنیای آینده، در آن هنگام كه پسر انسان با شكوه و جلال آسمانی بر تخت پادشاهی خود جلوس می‌کند، شما كه از من پیروی کرده‌اید بر دوازده تخت خواهید نشست و بر دوازده طایفهٔ اسرائیل داوری خواهید نمود.

²⁹And every one that hath forsaken houses, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my name's sake, shall receive an hundredfold, and shall inherit everlasting life.

²⁹ و هرکس كه به‌خاطر من خانه و برادران و خواهران و پدر و مادر و كودكان و زمین و ملک خود را ترک كرده باشد، چندین برابر پاداش خواهد گرفت و حیات جاودانی به دست خواهد آورد. امّا بسیاری از کسانی‌که اكنون اول هستند، آخر خواهند شد و بسیاری از آنها كه اكنون آخر هستند اول خواهند بود.

³⁰But many that are first shall be last; and the last shall be first.

³⁰ امّا بسیاری از کسانی‌که اكنون اول هستند، آخر خواهند شد و بسیاری از آنها كه اكنون آخر هستند اول خواهند بود.
