¹And seeing the multitudes, he went up into a mountain: and when he was set, his disciples came unto him:

¹ وقتی عیسی جمعیّت زیادی را دید، به بالای كوهی رفت و در آنجا نشست و شاگردانش به نزد او آمدند

²And he opened his mouth, and taught them, saying,

² و او دهان خود را گشوده به آنان چنین تعلیم داد:

³Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

³ «خوشا به حال کسانی‌که از فقر روحی خود آگاهند زیرا، پادشاهی آسمان از آن ایشان است.

⁴Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.

⁴ «خوشا به حال ماتم‌زدگان، زیرا ایشان تسلّی خواهند یافت.

⁵Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.

⁵ «خوشا به حال فروتنان، زیرا ایشان مالک جهان خواهند شد.

⁶Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.

⁶ «خوشا به حال کسانی‌که گرسنه و تشنهٔ نیكی خدایی هستند، زیرا ایشان سیر خواهند شد.

⁷Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.

⁷ «خوشا به حال رحم‌كنندگان، زیرا ایشان رحمت را خواهند دید.

⁸Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.

⁸ «خوشا به حال پاکدلان، زیرا ایشان خدا را خواهند دید.

⁹Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.

⁹ «خوشا به حال صلح‌كنندگان، زیرا ایشان فرزندان خدا خوانده خواهند شد.

¹⁰Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

¹⁰ «خوشا به حال کسانی‌که در راه نیكی آزار می‌بینند، زیرا پادشاهی آسمان از آن ایشان است.

¹¹Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.

¹¹ «خوشحال باشید اگر به‌خاطر من به شما اهانت می‌کنند و آزار می‌رسانند و به ناحق هرگونه افترایی به شما می‌زنند.

¹²Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.

¹² خوشحال باشید و بسیار شادی كنید، زیرا پاداش شما در آسمان عظیم است، چون همین‌طور به انبیای قبل از شما نیز آزار می‌رسانیدند.

¹³Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men.

¹³ «شما نمک جهان هستید ولی هرگاه نمک مزهٔ خود را از دست بدهد، چگونه می‌توان آن را بار دیگر نمكین ساخت؟ دیگر مصرفی ندارد، جز آنكه بیرون ریخته پایمال مردم شود.

¹⁴Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.

¹⁴ «شما نور جهان هستید. نمی‌توان شهری را كه بر كوهی بنا شده است، پنهان كرد.

¹⁵Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.

¹⁵ هیچ‌کس چراغ روشن نمی‌کند كه آن را زیر سرپوش بگذارد، بلكه آن را بر چراغ‌پایه قرار می‌دهد تا به تمام ساكنان خانه نور دهد.

¹⁶Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

¹⁶ نور شما نیز باید همین‌طور در برابر مردم بتابد تا كارهای نیک شما را ببینند و پدر آسمانی شما را ستایش نمایند.

¹⁷Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.

¹⁷ «فكر نكنید كه من آمده‌ام تا تورات و نوشته‌های انبیا را منسوخ نمایم. نیامده‌ام تا منسوخ كنم، بلكه تا به كمال برسانم.

¹⁸For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.

¹⁸ یقین بدانید كه تا آسمان و زمین بر جای هستند، هیچ حرف و نقطه‌ای از تورات از بین نخواهد رفت تا همهٔ آن به انجام برسد.

¹⁹Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.

¹⁹ پس هرگاه کسی حتّی كوچكترین احكام شریعت را بشكند و به دیگران چنین تعلیم دهد در پادشاهی آسمان پست‌ترین فرد محسوب خواهد شد. حال آنكه هرکس شریعت را نگاه دارد و به دیگران نیز چنین تعلیم دهد، در پادشاهی آسمان بزرگ خوانده خواهد شد.

²⁰For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven.

²⁰ بدانید كه تا نیكی شما از نیكی علما و فریسیان بیشتر نباشد، به پادشاهی آسمان وارد نخواهید شد.

²¹Ye have heard that it was said of them of old time, Thou shalt not kill; and whosoever shall kill shall be in danger of the judgment:

²¹ «شنیده‌اید كه در قدیم به مردم گفته شد: 'قتل نكن و هرکس مرتكب قتل شود محكوم خواهد شد.'

²²But I say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment: and whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of the council: but whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire.

²² امّا من به شما می‌گویم: هرکس نسبت به برادر خود عصبانی شود، محكوم خواهد شد و هرکه برادر خود را ابلَه بخواند، به دادگاه برده خواهد شد و اگر او را 'احمق' بخواند مستوجب آتش جهنم خواهد بود.

²³Therefore if thou bring thy gift to the altar, and there rememberest that thy brother hath ought against thee;

²³ پس اگر هدیهٔ خود را به قربانگاه ببری و در آنجا به‌خاطر بیاوری كه برادرت از تو شكایتی دارد،

²⁴Leave there thy gift before the altar, and go thy way; first be reconciled to thy brother, and then come and offer thy gift.

²⁴ هدیهٔ خود را جلوی قربانگاه بگذار و اول برو با برادر خود آشتی كن و آنگاه برگرد و هدیهٔ خویش را تقدیم كن.

²⁵Agree with thine adversary quickly, whiles thou art in the way with him; lest at any time the adversary deliver thee to the judge, and the judge deliver thee to the officer, and thou be cast into prison.

²⁵ «با مدّعی خود وقتی‌که هنوز در راه دادگاه هستی صلح نما وگرنه آن مدّعی تو را به دست قاضی خواهد سپرد و قاضی تو را به دست زندانبان خواهد داد و به زندان خواهی افتاد.

²⁶Verily I say unto thee, Thou shalt by no means come out thence, till thou hast paid the uttermost farthing.

²⁶ یقین بدان كه تا ریال آخر را نپردازی، آزاد نخواهی شد.

²⁷Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery:

²⁷ «شنیده‌اید كه گفته شده: 'زنا نكن'

²⁸But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.

²⁸ امّا من به شما می‌گویم هرگاه مردی از روی شهوت به زنی نگاه كند در دل خود با او زنا كرده است.

²⁹And if thy right eye offend thee, pluck it out, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell.

²⁹ پس اگر چشم راست تو باعث گمراهی تو می‌شود، آن را بیرون آور و دورانداز؛ زیرا بهتر است كه عضوی از بدن خود را از دست بدهی تا اینكه با تمام بدن به جهنم افكنده شوی.

³⁰And if thy right hand offend thee, cut it off, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell.

³⁰ اگر دست راستت تو را گمراه می‌سازد، آن را ببر و دور انداز؛ زیرا بهتر است كه عضوی از بدن خود را از دست بدهی تا اینكه با تمام بدن به جهنم بیفتی.

³¹It hath been said, Whosoever shall put away his wife, let him give her a writing of divorcement:

³¹ «همچنین گفته شده: 'هرگاه مردی زن خود را طلاق دهد، باید طلاقنامه‌ای به او بدهد.'

³²But I say unto you, That whosoever shall put away his wife, saving for the cause of fornication, causeth her to commit adultery: and whosoever shall marry her that is divorced committeth adultery.

³² امّا من به شما می‌گویم: هرگاه کسی زن خود را جز به علّت زنا طلاق دهد، او را به زنا كاری می‌کشاند و هرکس با چنین زنی ازدواج نماید، زنا می‌کند.

³³Again, ye have heard that it hath been said by them of old time, Thou shalt not forswear thyself, but shalt perform unto the Lord thine oaths:

³³ «همچنین شنیده‌اید كه در قدیم به مردم گفته شده: 'قسم دروغ نخور و به هر سوگندی كه به نام خداوند یاد کرده‌ای عمل نما.'

³⁴But I say unto you, Swear not at all; neither by heaven; for it is God's throne:

³⁴ امّا من می‌گویم به هیچ وجه قسم یاد نكن، نه به آسمان زیرا كه عرش خداست،

³⁵Nor by the earth; for it is his footstool: neither by Jerusalem; for it is the city of the great King.

³⁵ نه به زمین زیرا كه پای‌انداز اوست، نه به اورشلیم زیرا كه شهر آن پادشاه بزرگ است

³⁶Neither shalt thou swear by thy head, because thou canst not make one hair white or black.

³⁶ و نه به سر خود، زیرا قادر نیستی مویی از آن را سیاه یا سفید کنی.

³⁷But let your communication be, Yea, yea; Nay, nay: for whatsoever is more than these cometh of evil.

³⁷ سخن شما فقط بلی یا خیر باشد. زیاده بر این از شیطان است.

³⁸Ye have heard that it hath been said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth:

³⁸ «شنیده‌اید كه گفته شده: 'چشم به عوض چشم و دندان به عوض دندان.'

³⁹But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also.

³⁹ امّا من به شما می‌گویم به کسی‌که به تو بدی می‌کند بدی نكن و اگر کسی بر گونهٔ راست تو سیلی می‌زند، گونهٔ دیگر خود را به طرف او بگردان.

⁴⁰And if any man will sue thee at the law, and take away thy coat, let him have thy cloak also.

⁴⁰ هرگاه کسی تو را برای گرفتن پیراهنت به دادگاه بكشاند، كت خود را هم به او ببخش.

⁴¹And whosoever shall compel thee to go a mile, go with him twain.

⁴¹ هرگاه شخصی تو را به پیمودن یک کیلومتر راه مجبور نماید دو کیلومتر با او برو.

⁴²Give to him that asketh thee, and from him that would borrow of thee turn not thou away.

⁴² به کسی‌که از تو چیزی می‌خواهد ببخش و از کسی‌که تقاضای قرض می‌کند، روی نگردان.

⁴³Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy.

⁴³ «شنیده‌اید كه: 'همسایه‌ات را دوست بدار و با دشمن خویش دشمنی كن.'

⁴⁴But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;

⁴⁴ امّا من به شما می‌گویم دشمنان خود را دوست بدارید و برای کسانی‌که به شما آزار می‌رسانند دعا كنید.

⁴⁵That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.

⁴⁵ به این وسیله شما فرزندان پدر آسمانی خود خواهید شد، چون او آفتاب خود را بر بدان و نیكان، یكسان می‌تاباند و باران خود را بر درستكاران و بدكاران می‌باراند.

⁴⁶For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same?

⁴⁶ اگر فقط کسانی را دوست بدارید كه شما را دوست دارند، چه اجری دارید؟ مگر باجگیران همین كار را نمی‌كنند؟

⁴⁷And if ye salute your brethren only, what do ye more than others? do not even the publicans so?

⁴⁷ اگر فقط به دوستان خود سلام كنید چه كار فوق‌العاده‌ای کرده‌اید؟ مگر بی‌دینان همین كار را نمی‌کنند؟ پس شما باید كامل باشید همان‌طور كه پدر آسمانی شما كامل است.

⁴⁸Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.

⁴⁸ پس شما باید كامل باشید همان‌طور كه پدر آسمانی شما كامل است.
