¹My son, attend unto my wisdom, and bow thine ear to my understanding:

¹ ای فرزند من، به حکمت من توجّه داشته‌ باش و پند و نصیحت مرا گوش کن.

²That thou mayest regard discretion, and that thy lips may keep knowledge.

² آنگاه خواهی دانست که چگونه درست رفتار کنی و سخنان تو نشان خواهند داد که عاقل و دانا هستی.

³For the lips of a strange woman drop as an honeycomb, and her mouth is smoother than oil:

³ لبهای زن زناکار شاید از عسل شیرین‌تر و بوسه‌هایش از روغن زیتون ملایمتر باشد.

⁴But her end is bitter as wormwood, sharp as a two-edged sword.

⁴ امّا در پایان کار غیراز تلخی و درد و رنج چیزی برایت باقی نمی‌گذارد.

⁵Her feet go down to death; her steps take hold on hell.

⁵ چنین زنی، انسان را به طرف مرگ می‌کشاند و به انتهای دنیای مردگان می‌اندازد.

⁶Lest thou shouldest ponder the path of life, her ways are moveable, that thou canst not know them.

⁶ هرگز در راه راست قدم نمی‌گذارد، بلکه آواره و سرگردان است و خودش این را نمی‌داند.

⁷Hear me now therefore, O ye children, and depart not from the words of my mouth.

⁷ پس ای پسران من، به من گوش کنید و آنچه را که می‌گویم هرگز فراموش نکنید.

⁸Remove thy way far from her, and come not nigh the door of her house:

⁸ از این قبیل زنان دوری کنید و حتّی نزدیک خانهٔ آنها هم نروید.

⁹Lest thou give thine honour unto others, and thy years unto the cruel:

⁹ مبادا عزّت و احترام خود را از دست داده و در جوانی به دست ظالمان هلاک شوید.

¹⁰Lest strangers be filled with thy wealth; and thy labours be in the house of a stranger;

¹⁰ مبادا اموال شما نصیب بیگانگان شده و نتیجهٔ یک عمر زحمتتان به هدر رود،

¹¹And thou mourn at the last, when thy flesh and thy body are consumed,

¹¹ گوشت و استخوانهایتان فاسد شوند و در آخر عمر برای خودتان ماتم بگیرید،

¹²And say, How have I hated instruction, and my heart despised reproof;

¹² و به خود بگویید که چرا به پند و نصیحت دیگران گوش ندادم و نخواستم عبرت بگیرم،

¹³And have not obeyed the voice of my teachers, nor inclined mine ear to them that instructed me!

¹³ به سخنان معلّمان خود گوش ندادم و به آنها توجّه نکردم.

¹⁴I was almost in all evil in the midst of the congregation and assembly.

¹⁴ ناگهان متوجّه شدم که در پیش چشمان مردم رسوا شده‌ام.

¹⁵Drink waters out of thine own cistern, and running waters out of thine own well.

¹⁵ به زن خود وفادار باش و فقط او را دوست بدار.

¹⁶Let thy fountains be dispersed abroad, and rivers of waters in the streets.

¹⁶ تا به تو وفادار بماند و به دنبال مردهای دیگر نرود.

¹⁷Let them be only thine own, and not strangers' with thee.

¹⁷ او فقط مال توست و نباید با مردهای دیگر رابطه داشته باشد.

¹⁸Let thy fountain be blessed: and rejoice with the wife of thy youth.

¹⁸ بنابراین، از زن خود که در جوانی با او ازدواج کرده‌ای، لذّت ببر.

¹⁹Let her be as the loving hind and pleasant roe; let her breasts satisfy thee at all times; and be thou ravished always with her love.

¹⁹ بگذار او مانند آهوی زیبا و خوش اندام، تو را با عشق و خوشی در آغوش بکشد.

²⁰And why wilt thou, my son, be ravished with a strange woman, and embrace the bosom of a stranger?

²⁰ ای پسرم، چرا باید عشق خود را به زن دیگری ابراز کنی و چشمانت دنبال زنان شوهردار باشد؟

²¹For the ways of man are before the eyes of the LORD, and he pondereth all his goings.

²¹ هر جا بروی و هر کاری که انجام دهی، خداوند می‌بیند.

²²His own iniquities shall take the wicked himself, and he shall be holden with the cords of his sins.

²² گناهان شخص شریر مانند دامی است که خودش در آن گرفتار می‌شود. چون نمی‌تواند جلوی خود را بگیرد، هلاک می‌گردد و نادانی او، او را به گور می‌فرستد.

²³He shall die without instruction; and in the greatness of his folly he shall go astray.

²³ چون نمی‌تواند جلوی خود را بگیرد، هلاک می‌گردد و نادانی او، او را به گور می‌فرستد.
