¹Wisdom hath builded her house, she hath hewn out her seven pillars:

¹ حکمت خانه‌ای برای خود ساخته و هفت ستون در آن برپا نموده است.

²She hath killed her beasts; she hath mingled her wine; she hath also furnished her table.

² حیوانی را برای مهمانی سر بریده، شراب را با ادویه‌جات مخلوط نموده و سفرهٔ خود را پهن کرده است.

³She hath sent forth her maidens: she crieth upon the highest places of the city,

³ کنیزان خود را به مکانهای بلند شهر فرستاده است تا با صدای بلند فریاد کنند:

⁴Whoso is simple, let him turn in hither: as for him that wanteth understanding, she saith to him,

⁴ ای کسانی‌که ساده لوح هستید و ای کسانی‌که عقل شما ناقص است،

⁵Come, eat of my bread, and drink of the wine which I have mingled.

⁵ بیایید و از غذای من بخورید و از شرابی که با ادویه مخلوط نموده‌ام، بنوشید.

⁶Forsake the foolish, and live; and go in the way of understanding.

⁶ نادانی را ترک کنید و با بینش زندگی نمایید.

⁷He that reproveth a scorner getteth to himself shame: and he that rebuketh a wicked man getteth himself a blot.

⁷ اگر آدم ایرادگیر و از خود راضی را سرزنش کنی، به خودت توهین خواهد شد. و هر که شخص شریری را تنبیه کند، به خودش صدمه خواهد زد.

⁸Reprove not a scorner, lest he hate thee: rebuke a wise man, and he will love thee.

⁸ هرگز شخص خودخواه را سرزنش مکن، زیرا که او از تو نفرت خواهد کرد. امّا اگر شخص دانایی را سرزنش کنی، به تو علاقه‌مند خواهد شد.

⁹Give instruction to a wise man, and he will be yet wiser: teach a just man, and he will increase in learning.

⁹ هرچه به شخص دانا بگویی، داناتر می‌شود و هرچه به شخص درستکار بگویی، دانش و دانایی او بیشتر خواهد شد.

¹⁰The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding.

¹⁰ برای اینکه دانا شوی، ابتدا باید به خداوند احترام بگذاری. اگر آن قدّوس را بشناسی حکیم خواهی گردید.

¹¹For by me thy days shall be multiplied, and the years of thy life shall be increased.

¹¹ حکمت، عمر تو را طولانی می‌کند.

¹²If thou be wise, thou shalt be wise for thyself: but if thou scornest, thou alone shalt bear it.

¹² اگر دانا هستی خودت منفعت خواهی برد و اگر حکمت را رد کنی، فقط خودت زیان خواهی کرد.

¹³A foolish woman is clamorous: she is simple, and knoweth nothing.

¹³ حماقت، مانند زن بی‌حیا و نادانی است که خیلی زیاد و با صدایی بلند حرف می‌زند.

¹⁴For she sitteth at the door of her house, on a seat in the high places of the city,

¹⁴ او جلوی در خانه‌اش می‌نشیند و یا بر صندلی در بلندترین مکان شهر می‌نشیند.

¹⁵To call passengers who go right on their ways:

¹⁵ رهگذرانی را که در فکر کار خودشان هستند دعوت می‌کند.

¹⁶Whoso is simple, let him turn in hither: and as for him that wanteth understanding, she saith to him,

¹⁶ که ای مردم ساده لوح، به اینجا بیایید و به مردم نادان می‌گوید:

¹⁷Stolen waters are sweet, and bread eaten in secret is pleasant.

¹⁷ «آبِ دزدی شیرین‌تر و نانی که در پنهانی خورده شود، خوشمزه‌تر است.» مردمی که فریب می‌خورند، نمی‌دانند که اگر به خانهٔ آن زن بروند، زندگی خود را از دست می‌دهند و کسانی‌که به خانهٔ او رفته‌اند، اکنون در قعر دنیای مردگان می‌باشند.

¹⁸But he knoweth not that the dead are there; and that her guests are in the depths of hell.

¹⁸ مردمی که فریب می‌خورند، نمی‌دانند که اگر به خانهٔ آن زن بروند، زندگی خود را از دست می‌دهند و کسانی‌که به خانهٔ او رفته‌اند، اکنون در قعر دنیای مردگان می‌باشند.
