¹Give ear to my prayer, O God; and hide not thyself from my supplication.

¹ خدایا به دعای من گوش بده و وقتی‌که زاری می‌کنم خود را از من پنهان مکن.

²Attend unto me, and hear me: I mourn in my complaint, and make a noise;

² دعای مرا بشنو و مستجاب فرما. از شدّت نگرانی، فکرم پریشان است.

³Because of the voice of the enemy, because of the oppression of the wicked: for they cast iniquity upon me, and in wrath they hate me.

³ از تهدید دشمنان هراسانم و ظلم مردم ظالم مرا آشفته کرده است. آنها مرا عذاب می‌دهند و از من نفرت دارند.

⁴My heart is sore pained within me: and the terrors of death are fallen upon me.

⁴ دلم افسرده و غمگین است. وحشت مرگ مرا فراگرفته است.

⁵Fearfulness and trembling are come upon me, and horror hath overwhelmed me.

⁵ ترس و وحشت مرا احاطه کرده و از پا انداخته است.

⁶And I said, Oh that I had wings like a dove! for then would I fly away, and be at rest.

⁶ می‌گویم: «ای کاش مانند کبوتر بال می‌داشتم، پر می‌زدم و به جای آرامی می‌رفتم.

⁷Lo, then would I wander far off, and remain in the wilderness. Selah.

⁷ ای کاش به دوردستها پرواز می‌کردم، و خانهٔ خود را در بیابان می‌ساختم،

⁸I would hasten my escape from the windy storm and tempest.

⁸ پناهگاهی می‌جُستم و از توفان بلا در امان می‌ماندم.»

⁹Destroy, O Lord, and divide their tongues: for I have seen violence and strife in the city.

⁹ خداوندا، زبان شریران را مغشوش گردان، زیرا آنها شهر را به آشوب کشیده‌اند.

¹⁰Day and night they go about it upon the walls thereof: mischief also and sorrow are in the midst of it.

¹⁰ شب و روز دیوارهای شهر را دور می‌زنند و جنایت و فساد می‌آفرینند.

¹¹Wickedness is in the midst thereof: deceit and guile depart not from her streets.

¹¹ فساد و شرارت همه‌جا را فراگرفته و خیابانهای شهر پُر از فریب و نیرنگ است.

¹²For it was not an enemy that reproached me; then I could have borne it: neither was it he that hated me that did magnify himself against me; then I would have hid myself from him:

¹² اگر دشمن به من توهین می‌کرد، آن را تحمّل می‌کردم و یا اگر رقیب من به ضد من برخاسته بود، خود را پنهان می‌نمودم.

¹³But it was thou, a man mine equal, my guide, and mine acquaintance.

¹³ امّا این تو هستی، شریک و همکار و دوست نزدیک من.

¹⁴We took sweet counsel together, and walked unto the house of God in company.

¹⁴ ما با هم گفت‌وگوهای شیرین داشتیم و با یکدیگر برای عبادت به معبد بزرگ می‌رفتیم.

¹⁵Let death seize upon them, and let them go down quick into hell: for wickedness is in their dwellings, and among them.

¹⁵ مرگ ناگهانی نصیبشان شود، زنده به گور شوند، زیرا دلها و خانه‌های آنان پُر از شرارت و جنایت است.

¹⁶As for me, I will call upon God; and the LORD shall save me.

¹⁶ امّا من از خداوند، خدای خود یاری می‌‌‌‌خواهم و او مرا رهایی خواهد داد.

¹⁷Evening, and morning, and at noon, will I pray, and cry aloud: and he shall hear my voice.

¹⁷ صبح و ظهر و شب به درگاه خدا ناله می‌کنم و او دعای مرا مستجاب خواهد کرد.

¹⁸He hath delivered my soul in peace from the battle that was against me: for there were many with me.

¹⁸ وقتی با دشمنان بسیار در میدان جنگ نبرد می‌کنم، او مرا با پیروزی بسلامت بازمی‌گرداند.

¹⁹God shall hear, and afflict them, even he that abideth of old. Selah. Because they have no changes, therefore they fear not God.

¹⁹ خدا که پادشاه ازلی است، مرا خواهد شنید و آنها را سرکوب خواهد كرد، زیرا آنها از او نمی‌ترسند و راه خود را تغییر نمی‌دهند.

²⁰He hath put forth his hands against such as be at peace with him: he hath broken his covenant.

²⁰ دوست سابق من، دست خود را علیه دوستانش بلند کرده و پیمان خود را شکسته است.

²¹The words of his mouth were smoother than butter, but war was in his heart: his words were softer than oil, yet were they drawn swords.

²¹ سخنان چرب و نرم می‌زند، امّا در باطن از من نفرت دارد. حرفهایش در ظاهر بسیار شیرین، امّا مانند شمشیر تیز و کُشنده است.

²²Cast thy burden upon the LORD, and he shall sustain thee: he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved.

²² مشکلات خود را به خداوند بسپار و او آنها را برایت حل خواهد کرد، او هرگز نمی‌گذارد که اشخاص وفادار شکست بخورند. امّا تو ای خدا، این آدمهای قاتل و حیله‌گر را پیش از وقت به گور خواهی فرستاد، قبل از اینکه نیمی از عمرشان را سپری کنند. امّا من بر تو توکّل می‌کنم.

²³But thou, O God, shalt bring them down into the pit of destruction: bloody and deceitful men shall not live out half their days; but I will trust in thee.

²³ امّا تو ای خدا، این آدمهای قاتل و حیله‌گر را پیش از وقت به گور خواهی فرستاد، قبل از اینکه نیمی از عمرشان را سپری کنند. امّا من بر تو توکّل می‌کنم.
