¹Rebuke not an elder, but intreat him as a father; and the younger men as brethren;

¹Nu mustra cu asprime pe un bătrîn, ci sfătuieşte -l ca pe un tată; pe tineri sfătuieşte -i ca pe nişte fraţi;

²The elder women as mothers; the younger as sisters, with all purity.

²pe femeile bătrîne, ca pe nişte mame; pe cele tinere, ca pe nişte surori, cu toată curăţia.

³Honour widows that are widows indeed.

³Cinsteşte pe văduvele cari sînt cu adevărat văduve.

⁴But if any widow have children or nephews, let them learn first to shew piety at home, and to requite their parents: for that is good and acceptable before God.

⁴Dacă o văduvă are copii sau nepoţi dela copii, aceştia să se deprindă să fie evlavioşi întîi faţă de cei din casa lor, şi să răsplătească ostenelile părinţilor, căci lucrul acesta este plăcut înaintea lui Dumnezeu.

⁵Now she that is a widow indeed, and desolate, trusteth in God, and continueth in supplications and prayers night and day.

⁵Cea cu adevărat văduvă, care a rămas singură, şi -a pus nădejdea în Dumnezeu, şi stăruieşte, zi şi noapte, în cereri şi rugăciuni.

⁶But she that liveth in pleasure is dead while she liveth.

⁶Dar cea dedată la plăceri, măcar că trăieşte, este moartă.

⁷And these things give in charge, that they may be blameless.

⁷Porunceşte şi aceste lucruri, ca să fie fără vină.

⁸But if any provide not for his own, and specially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel.

⁸Dacă nu poartă cineva grijă de ai lui, şi mai ales de cei din casa lui, s'a lepădat de credinţă, şi este mai rău decît un necredincios.

⁹Let not a widow be taken into the number under threescore years old, having been the wife of one man.

⁹O văduvă, ca să fie înscrisă în lista văduvelor, trebuie să n'aibă mai puţin de şaizeci de ani, să nu fi avut decît un singur bărbat;

¹⁰Well reported of for good works; if she have brought up children, if she have lodged strangers, if she have washed the saints' feet, if she have relieved the afflicted, if she have diligently followed every good work.

¹⁰să fie cunoscută pentru faptele ei bune; să fi crescut copii, să fi fost primitoare de oaspeţi, să fi spălat picioarele sfinţilor, să fi ajutat pe cei nenorociţi, să fi dat ajutor la orice faptă bună.

¹¹But the younger widows refuse: for when they have begun to wax wanton against Christ, they will marry;

¹¹Dar pe văduvele tinere să nu le primeşti: pentrucă atunci cînd le desparte pofta de Hristos, vor să se mărite din nou,

¹²Having damnation, because they have cast off their first faith.

¹²şi se fac vinovate de faptul că îşi calcă credinţa dintîi.

¹³And withal they learn to be idle, wandering about from house to house; and not only idle, but tattlers also and busybodies, speaking things which they ought not.

¹³Totodată, se deprind să umble fără nici o treabă din casă în casă; şi nu numai că sînt leneşe, dar sînt şi limbute şi iscoditoare, şi vorbesc ce nu trebuie vorbit.

¹⁴I will therefore that the younger women marry, bear children, guide the house, give none occasion to the adversary to speak reproachfully.

¹⁴Vreau dar ca văduvele tinere să se mărite şi să aibă copii, să fie gospodine la casa lor, ca să nu dea protivnicului niciun prilej de ocară,

¹⁵For some are already turned aside after Satan.

¹⁵căci unele s'au şi întors să urmeze pe Satana.

¹⁶If any man or woman that believeth have widows, let them relieve them, and let not the church be charged; that it may relieve them that are widows indeed.

¹⁶Dacă vreun credincios, fie bărbat, fie femeie, are văduve în familie, să le ajute, şi să nu fie împovărată cu ele Biserica, pentru ca să poată veni în ajutor celor cu adevărat văduve.

¹⁷Let the elders that rule well be counted worthy of double honour, especially they who labour in the word and doctrine.

¹⁷Presbiterii (Sau: bătrîni.) cari cîrmuiesc bine, să fie învredniciţi de îndoită cinste, mai ales ceice se ostenesc cu propovăduirea şi cu învăţătura, pe care o dau altora.

¹⁸For the scripture saith, Thou shalt not muzzle the ox that treadeth out the corn. And, The labourer is worthy of his reward.

¹⁸Căci Scriptura zice: ,,Să nu legi gura boului cînd treieră bucate``; şi: ,,Vrednic este lucrătorul de plata lui.``

¹⁹Against an elder receive not an accusation, but before two or three witnesses.

¹⁹Împotriva unui presbiter (Sau: bătrîni.) să nu primeşti învinuire de cît din gura a doi sau trei martori.

²⁰Them that sin rebuke before all, that others also may fear.

²⁰Pe cei ce păcătuiesc, mustră -i înaintea tuturor, ca şi ceilalţi să aibă frică.

²¹I charge thee before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, and the elect angels, that thou observe these things without preferring one before another, doing nothing by partiality.

²¹Te rog fierbinte, înaintea lui Dumnezeu, înaintea lui Hristos Isus şi înaintea îngerilor aleşi, să păzeşti aceste lucruri, fără vreun gînd mai dinainte, şi să nu faci nimic cu părtinire.

²²Lay hands suddenly on no man, neither be partaker of other men's sins: keep thyself pure.

²²Să nu-ţi pui mînile peste nimeni cu grabă: şi să nu te faci părtaş păcatelor altora: pe tine însuţi păzeşte-te curat.

²³Drink no longer water, but use a little wine for thy stomach's sake and thine often infirmities.

²³Să nu mai bei numai apă, ci să iei şi cîte puţin vin, din pricina stomahului tău, şi din pricina deselor tale îmbolnăviri.

²⁴Some men's sins are open beforehand, going before to judgment; and some men they follow after.

²⁴Păcatele unor oameni sînt cunoscute şi merg înainte la judecată, iar ale altora vin pe urmă.

²⁵Likewise also the good works of some are manifest beforehand; and they that are otherwise cannot be hid.

²⁵Tot aşa şi faptele bune sînt cunoscute: şi cele ce nu sînt cunoscute, nu pot să rămînă ascunse.
