¹Let as many servants as are under the yoke count their own masters worthy of all honour, that the name of God and his doctrine be not blasphemed.

¹Toţi cei ce sînt supt jugul robiei, să socotească pe stăpînii lor vrednici de toată cinstea, ca Numele lui Dumnezeu şi învăţătura să nu fie vorbite de rău.

²And they that have believing masters, let them not despise them, because they are brethren; but rather do them service, because they are faithful and beloved, partakers of the benefit. These things teach and exhort.

²Iar cei ce au stăpîni credincioşi, să nu -i dispreţuiască, supt cuvînt că sînt ,,fraţi``, ci să le slujească şi mai bine, tocmai fiindcă cei ce se bucură de binefacerile slujbei lor, sînt credincioşi şi prea iubiţi. Învaţă pe oameni aceste lucruri, şi spune-le apăsat.

³If any man teach otherwise, and consent not to wholesome words, even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which is according to godliness;

³Dacă învaţă cineva pe oameni învăţătură deosebită, şi nu se ţine de cuvintele sănătoase ale Domnului nostru Isus Hristos şi de învăţătura care duce la evlavie,

⁴He is proud, knowing nothing, but doting about questions and strifes of words, whereof cometh envy, strife, railings, evil surmisings,

⁴este plin de mîndrie, şi nu ştie nimic: ba încă are boala cercetărilor fără rost şi a certurilor de cuvinte, din cari se naşte pizma, certurile, clevetirile, bănuielile rele,

⁵Perverse disputings of men of corrupt minds, and destitute of the truth, supposing that gain is godliness: from such withdraw thyself.

⁵zădarnicile ciocniri de vorbe ale oamenilor stricaţi la minte, lipsiţi de adevăr şi cari cred că evlavia este un izvor de cîştig. Fereşte-te de astfel de oameni.

⁶But godliness with contentment is great gain.

⁶Negreşit, evlavia însoţită de mulţămire este un mare cîştig.

⁷For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out.

⁷Căci noi n'am adus nimic în lume, şi nici nu putem să luăm cu noi nimic din ea.

⁸And having food and raiment let us be therewith content.

⁸Dacă avem, dar, cu ce să ne hrănim şi cu ce să ne îmbrăcăm, ne va fi de ajuns.

⁹But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition.

⁹Cei ce vor să se îmbogăţească, dimpotrivă, cad în ispită, în laţ şi în multe pofte nesăbuite şi vătămătoare, cari cufundă pe oameni în prăpăd, şi pierzare.

¹⁰For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.

¹⁰Căci iubirea de bani este rădăcina tuturor relelor; şi unii, cari au umblat după ea, au rătăcit dela credinţă, şi s'au străpuns singuri cu o mulţime de chinuri.

¹¹But thou, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness.

¹¹Iar tu, om al lui Dumnezeu, fugi de aceste lucruri, şi caută neprihănirea, evlavia, credinţa, dragostea, răbdarea, blîndeţa.

¹²Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses.

¹²Luptă-te lupta cea bună a credinţei; apucă viaţa vecinică la care ai fost chemat, şi pentru care ai făcut aceea frumoasă mărturisire înaintea multor marturi.

¹³I give thee charge in the sight of God, who quickeneth all things, and before Christ Jesus, who before Pontius Pilate witnessed a good confession;

¹³Te îndemn, înaintea lui Dumnezeu, care dă viaţă tuturor lucrurilor, şi înaintea lui Hristos Isus, care a făcut acea frumoasă mărturisire înaintea lui Pilat din Pont,

¹⁴That thou keep this commandment without spot, unrebukable, until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ:

¹⁴să păzeşti porunca, fără prihană şi fără vină pînă la arătarea Domnului nostru Isus Hristos,

¹⁵Which in his times he shall shew, who is the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings, and Lord of lords;

¹⁵care va fi făcută la vremea ei de fericitul şi singurul Stăpînitor, Împăratul împăraţilor şi Domnul domnilor,

¹⁶Who only hath immortality, dwelling in the light which no man can approach unto; whom no man hath seen, nor can see: to whom be honour and power everlasting. Amen.

¹⁶singurul care are nemurirea, care locuieşte într'o lumină, de care nu poţi să te apropii, pe care niciun om nu L -a văzut, nici nu -L poate vedea, şi care are cinstea şi puterea vecinică! Amin.

¹⁷Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not highminded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy;

¹⁷Îndeamnă pe bogaţii veacului acestuia să nu se îngîmfe, şi să nu-şi pună nădejdea în nişte bogăţii nestatornice, ci în Dumnezeu, care ne dă toate lucrurile din belşug, ca să ne bucurăm de ele.

¹⁸That they do good, that they be rich in good works, ready to distribute, willing to communicate;

¹⁸Îndeamnă -i să facă bine, să fie bogaţi în fapte bune, să fie darnici, gata să simtă împreună cu alţii,

¹⁹Laying up in store for themselves a good foundation against the time to come, that they may lay hold on eternal life.

¹⁹aşa ca să-şi strîngă pentru vremea viitoare drept comoară o bună temelie pentru ca să apuce adevărata viaţă.

²⁰O Timothy, keep that which is committed to thy trust, avoiding profane and vain babblings, and oppositions of science falsely so called:
