¹Now there were in the church that was at Antioch certain prophets and teachers; as Barnabas, and Simeon that was called Niger, and Lucius of Cyrene, and Manaen, which had been brought up with Herod the tetrarch, and Saul.

¹În Biserica din Antiohia erau nişte prooroci şi învăţători: Barnaba, Simon, numit Niger, Luciu din Cirena, Manaen, care fusese crescut împreună cu cîrmuitorul Irod, şi Saul.

²As they ministered to the Lord, and fasted, the Holy Ghost said, Separate me Barnabas and Saul for the work whereunto I have called them.

²Pe cînd slujeau Domnului şi posteau, Duhul Sfînt a zis: ,,Puneţi-Mi deoparte pe Barnaba şi pe Saul pentru lucrarea la care i-am chemat.``

³And when they had fasted and prayed, and laid their hands on them, they sent them away.

³Atunci, după ce au postit şi s'au rugat, şi-au pus mînile peste ei, şi i-au lăsat să plece.

⁴So they, being sent forth by the Holy Ghost, departed unto Seleucia; and from thence they sailed to Cyprus.

⁴Barnaba şi Saul, trimeşi de Duhul Sfînt, s'au coborît la Seleucia, şi de acolo au plecat cu corabia la Cipru.

⁵And when they were at Salamis, they preached the word of God in the synagogues of the Jews: and they had also John to their minister.

⁵Ajunşi la Salamina, au vestit Cuvîntul lui Dumnezeu în sinagogile Iudeilor. Aveau de slujitor pe Ioan.

⁶And when they had gone through the isle unto Paphos, they found a certain sorcerer, a false prophet, a Jew, whose name was Barjesus:

⁶Dupăce au străbătut toată insula pînă la Pafos, au întîlnit pe un vrăjitor, prooroc mincinos, un Iudeu, cu numele Bar-Isus,

⁷Which was with the deputy of the country, Sergius Paulus, a prudent man; who called for Barnabas and Saul, and desired to hear the word of God.

⁷care era cu dregătorul Sergius Paulus, un om înţelept. Acesta din urmă a chemat pe Barnaba şi pe Saul, şi şi -a arătat dorinţa să audă Cuvîntul lui Dumnezeu.

⁸But Elymas the sorcerer (for so is his name by interpretation) withstood them, seeking to turn away the deputy from the faith.

⁸Dar Elima, vrăjitorul, -căci aşa se tîlcuieşte numele lui-le stătea împotrivă, şi căuta să abată pe dregător dela credinţă.

⁹Then Saul, (who also is called Paul,) filled with the Holy Ghost, set his eyes on him.

⁹Atunci Saul, care se mai numeşte şi Pavel, fiind plin de Duhul Sfînt, s'a uitat ţintă la el,

¹⁰And said, O full of all subtilty and all mischief, thou child of the devil, thou enemy of all righteousness, wilt thou not cease to pervert the right ways of the Lord?

¹⁰şi a zis: ,,Om plin de toată viclenia şi de toată răutatea, fiul dracului, vrăjmaş al oricărei neprihăniri, nu mai încetezi tu să strîmbi căile drepte ale Domnului?

¹¹And now, behold, the hand of the Lord is upon thee, and thou shalt be blind, not seeing the sun for a season. And immediately there fell on him a mist and a darkness; and he went about seeking some to lead him by the hand.

¹¹Acum, iată că mîna Domnului este împotriva ta: vei fi orb, şi nu vei vedea soarele pînă la o vreme.`` Îndată a căzut peste el ceaţă şi întunerec, şi căuta bîjbîind nişte oameni, cari să -l ducă de mînă.

¹²Then the deputy, when he saw what was done, believed, being astonished at the doctrine of the Lord.

¹²Atunci dregătorul, cînd a văzut ce se întîmplase, a crezut, şi a rămas uimit de învăţătura Domnului.

¹³Now when Paul and his company loosed from Paphos, they came to Perga in Pamphylia: and John departing from them returned to Jerusalem.

¹³Pavel şi tovarăşii lui au pornit cu corabia din Pafos, şi s'au dus la Perga în Pamfilia. Ioan s'a despărţit de ei, şi s'a întors la Ierusalim.

¹⁴But when they departed from Perga, they came to Antioch in Pisidia, and went into the synagogue on the sabbath day, and sat down.

¹⁴Din Perga şi-au urmat drumul înainte, şi au ajuns la Antiohia din Pisidia. În ziua Sabatului, au intrat în sinagogă şi au şezut jos.

¹⁵And after the reading of the law and the prophets the rulers of the synagogue sent unto them, saying, Ye men and brethren, if ye have any word of exhortation for the people, say on.

¹⁵După citirea Legii şi a Proorocilor, fruntaşii sinagogii au trimes să le zică: ,,Fraţilor, dacă aveţi un cuvînt de îndemn pentru norod, vorbiţi``.

¹⁶Then Paul stood up, and beckoning with his hand said, Men of Israel, and ye that fear God, give audience.

¹⁶Pavel s'a sculat, a făcut semn cu mîna, şi a zis: ,,Bărbaţi Israeliţi şi voi cari vă temeţi de Dumnezeu, ascultaţi!

¹⁷The God of this people of Israel chose our fathers, and exalted the people when they dwelt as strangers in the land of Egypt, and with an high arm brought he them out of it.

¹⁷Dumnezeul acestui popor Israel a ales pe părinţii noştri. A ridicat la cinste pe norodul acesta, în timpul şederii lui în ţara Egiptului, şi l'a scos din Egipt cu braţul Său cel puternic.

¹⁸And about the time of forty years suffered he their manners in the wilderness.

¹⁸Timp de aproape patruzeci de ani, le -a suferit purtarea în pustie.

¹⁹And when he had destroyed seven nations in the land of Chanaan, he divided their land to them by lot.

¹⁹Şi, dupăce a nimicit şapte popoare în ţara Canaanului, le -a dat de moştenire pămîntul lor, pentru aproape patru sute cincizeci de ani.

²⁰And after that he gave unto them judges about the space of four hundred and fifty years, until Samuel the prophet.

²⁰După aceste lucruri le -a dat judecători, pînă la proroocul Samuel.

²¹And afterward they desired a king: and God gave unto them Saul the son of Cis, a man of the tribe of Benjamin, by the space of forty years.

²¹Ei au cerut atunci un împărat. Şi, timp de aproape patruzeci de ani, Dumnezeu le -a dat pe Saul, fiul lui Chis, din seminţia lui Beniamin;

²²And when he had removed him, he raised up unto them David to be their king; to whom also he gave their testimony, and said, I have found David the son of Jesse, a man after mine own heart, which shall fulfil all my will.

²²apoi l -a înlăturat, şi le -a ridicat împărat pe David, despre care a mărturisit astfel: ,,Am găsit pe David, fiul lui Iese, om după inima Mea, care va împlini toate voile Mele.``

²³Of this man's seed hath God according to his promise raised unto Israel a Saviour, Jesus:

²³Din sămînţa lui David, Dumnezeu, după făgăduinţa Sa, a ridicat lui Israel un Mîntuitor, care este Isus.

²⁴When John had first preached before his coming the baptism of repentance to all the people of Israel.

²⁴Înainte de venirea Lui, Ioan propovăduise botezul pocăinţei la tot norodul lui Israel.

²⁵And as John fulfilled his course, he said, Whom think ye that I am? I am not he. But, behold, there cometh one after me, whose shoes of his feet I am not worthy to loose.

²⁵Şi Ioan, cînd era la sfîrşitul însărcinării lui, zicea: ,,Cine credeţi că sînt eu? Nu sînt Acela; ci iată că după mine vine Unul, căruia eu nu sînt vrednic să -i desleg încălţămintea picioarelor.``

²⁶Men and brethren, children of the stock of Abraham, and whosoever among you feareth God, to you is the word of this salvation sent.

²⁶Fraţilor, fii ai neamului lui Avraam, şi ceice vă temeţi de Dumnezeu, vouă v'a fost trimes Cuvîntul acestei mîntuiri.

²⁷For they that dwell at Jerusalem, and their rulers, because they knew him not, nor yet the voices of the prophets which are read every sabbath day, they have fulfilled them in condemning him.

²⁷Căci locuitorii din Ierusalim şi mai marii lor n'au cunoscut pe Isus; şi prin faptul că L-au osîndit, au împlinit cuvintele proorocilor, cari se citesc în fiecare Sabat.

²⁸And though they found no cause of death in him, yet desired they Pilate that he should be slain.

²⁸Măcarcă n'au găsit în El nicio vină de moarte, totuş ei au cerut lui Pilat să -L omoare.

²⁹And when they had fulfilled all that was written of him, they took him down from the tree, and laid him in a sepulchre.

²⁹Şi, dupăce au împlinit tot ce este scris despre El, L-au dat jos depe lemn, şi L-au pus într'un mormînt.

³⁰But God raised him from the dead:

³⁰Dar Dumnezeu L -a înviat din morţi.

³¹And he was seen many days of them which came up with him from Galilee to Jerusalem, who are his witnesses unto the people.

³¹El S'a arătat, timp de mai multe zile celorce se suiseră cu El din Galilea la Ierusalim, şi cari acum sînt martorii Lui înaintea norodului.

³²And we declare unto you glad tidings, how that the promise which was made unto the fathers,

³²Şi noi vă aducem vestea aceasta bună că făgăduinţa făcută părinţilor noştri,

³³God hath fulfilled the same unto us their children, in that he hath raised up Jesus again; as it is also written in the second psalm, Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee.

³³Dumnezeu a împlinit -o pentru noi, copiii lor, înviind pe Isus; după cum este scris în psalmul al doilea: ,,Tu eşti Fiul Meu, astăzi Te-am născut.``

³⁴And as concerning that he raised him up from the dead, now no more to return to corruption, he said on this wise, I will give you the sure mercies of David.

³⁴Că L -a înviat din morţi, aşa că nu Se va mai întoarce în putrezire, a spus -o cînd a zis: ,,Vă voi împlini cu toată credincioşia făgăduinţele sfinte, pe cari le-am făcut lui David.``

³⁵Wherefore he saith also in another psalm, Thou shalt not suffer thine Holy One to see corruption.

³⁵De aceea mai zice şi în alt psalm: ,,Nu vei îngădui ca Sfîntul Tău să vadă putrezirea.``

³⁶For David, after he had served his own generation by the will of God, fell on sleep, and was laid unto his fathers, and saw corruption:

³⁶Şi David, după ce a slujit celor din vremea lui, după planul lui Dumnezeu, a murit, a fost îngropat lîngă părinţii săi, şi a văzut putrezirea.

³⁷But he, whom God raised again, saw no corruption.

³⁷Dar Acela, pe care L -a înviat Dumnezeu, n'a văzut putrezirea.

³⁸Be it known unto you therefore, men and brethren, that through this man is preached unto you the forgiveness of sins:

³⁸Să ştiţi dar, fraţilor, că în El vi se vesteşte iertarea păcatelor;

³⁹And by him all that believe are justified from all things, from which ye could not be justified by the law of Moses.

³⁹şi oricine crede, este iertat prin El de toate lucrurile de cari n'aţi putut fi iertaţi prin Legea lui Moise.

⁴⁰Beware therefore, lest that come upon you, which is spoken of in the prophets;

⁴⁰Astfel, luaţi seama să nu vi se întîmple ce se spune în prooroci:

⁴¹Behold, ye despisers, and wonder, and perish: for I work a work in your days, a work which ye shall in no wise believe, though a man declare it unto you.

⁴¹,,Uitaţi-vă, dispreţuitorilor, miraţi-vă şi pieriţi; căci în zilele voastre, am să fac o lucrare, pe care n'o veţi crede nicidecum, dacă v'ar istorisi -o cineva.`` Prigonirile Iudeilor.

⁴²And when the Jews were gone out of the synagogue, the Gentiles besought that these words might be preached to them the next sabbath.

⁴²Cînd au ieşit afară, Neamurile i-au rugat să le vorbească şi în Sabatul viitor despre aceleaşi lucruri.

⁴³Now when the congregation was broken up, many of the Jews and religious proselytes followed Paul and Barnabas: who, speaking to them, persuaded them to continue in the grace of God.

⁴³Şi după ce s'a împrăştiat adunarea, mulţi din Iudei şi din prozeliţii evlavioşi au mers după Pavel şi Barnaba, cari stăteau de vorbă cu ei, şi -i îndemnau să stăruiască în harul lui Dumnezeu.

⁴⁴And the next sabbath day came almost the whole city together to hear the word of God.

⁴⁴În Sabatul viitor, aproape toată cetatea s'a adunat ca să audă Cuvîntul lui Dumnezeu.

⁴⁵But when the Jews saw the multitudes, they were filled with envy, and spake against those things which were spoken by Paul, contradicting and blaspheming.

⁴⁵Iudeii, cînd au văzut noroadele, s'au umplut de pizmă, vorbeau împotriva celor spuse de Pavel, şi -l batjocoreau.

⁴⁶Then Paul and Barnabas waxed bold, and said, It was necessary that the word of God should first have been spoken to you: but seeing ye put it from you, and judge yourselves unworthy of everlasting life, lo, we turn to the Gentiles.

⁴⁶Dar Pavel şi Barnaba le-au zis cu îndrăzneală: ,,Cuvîntul lui Dumnezeu trebuia vestit mai întîi vouă; dar fiindcă voi nu -l primiţi, şi singuri vă judecaţi nevrednici de viaţa vecinică, iată că ne întoarcem spre Neamuri.

⁴⁷For so hath the Lord commanded us, saying, I have set thee to be a light of the Gentiles, that thou shouldest be for salvation unto the ends of the earth.

⁴⁷Căci aşa ne -a poruncit Domnul: ,Te-am pus ca să fii Lumina Neamurilor, ca să duci mîntuirea pînă la marginile pămîntului.``

⁴⁸And when the Gentiles heard this, they were glad, and glorified the word of the Lord: and as many as were ordained to eternal life believed.

⁴⁸Neamurile se bucurau cînd au auzit lucrul acesta şi preamăreau Cuvîntul Domnului. Şi toţi cei ce erau rînduiţi să capete viaţa vecinică, au crezut.

⁴⁹And the word of the Lord was published throughout all the region.

⁴⁹Cuvîntul Domnului se răspîndea în toată ţara.

⁵⁰But the Jews stirred up the devout and honourable women, and the chief men of the city, and raised persecution against Paul and Barnabas, and expelled them out of their coasts.

⁵⁰Dar Iudeii au întărîtat pe femeile cucernice cu vază şi pe fruntaşii cetăţii, au stîrnit o prigonire împotriva lui Pavel şi Barnaba, şi i-au izgonit din hotarele lor.

⁵¹But they shook off the dust of their feet against them, and came unto Iconium.

⁵¹Pavel şi Barnaba au scuturat praful de pe picioare împotriva lor, şi s'au dus în Iconia,

⁵²And the disciples were filled with joy, and with the Holy Ghost.

⁵²în timp ce ucenicii erau plini de bucurie şi de Duhul Sfînt.
