¹And it came to pass in Iconium, that they went both together into the synagogue of the Jews, and so spake, that a great multitude both of the Jews and also of the Greeks believed.

¹În Iconia, Pavel şi Barnaba au intrat în sinagoga Iudeilor, şi au vorbit în aşa fel că o mare mulţime de Iudei şi de Greci au crezut.

²But the unbelieving Jews stirred up the Gentiles, and made their minds evil affected against the brethren.

²Dar Iudeii cari n'au crezut, au întărîtat şi au răzvrătit sufletele Neamurilor împotriva fraţilor.

³Long time therefore abode they speaking boldly in the Lord, which gave testimony unto the word of his grace, and granted signs and wonders to be done by their hands.

³Totuş au rămas destul de multă vreme în Iconia şi vorbeau cu îndrăzneală în Domnul, care adeverea Cuvîntul privitor la harul Său, şi îngăduia să se facă semne şi minuni prin mînile lor.

⁴But the multitude of the city was divided: and part held with the Jews, and part with the apostles.

⁴Mulţimea din cetate s'a desbinat: unii erau cu Iudeii, alţii cu apostolii.

⁵And when there was an assault made both of the Gentiles, and also of the Jews with their rulers, to use them despitefully, and to stone them,

⁵Neamurile şi Iudeii, în învoire cu mai marii lor, s'au pus în mişcare, că să -i batjocorească şi să -i ucidă cu pietre.

⁶They were ware of it, and fled unto Lystra and Derbe, cities of Lycaonia, and unto the region that lieth round about:

⁶Pavel şi Barnaba au înţeles lucrul acesta, şi au fugit în cetăţile Licaoniei: Listra şi Derbe, şi în ţinutul de primprejur.

⁷And there they preached the gospel.

⁷Şi au propovăduit Evanghelia acolo.

⁸And there sat a certain man at Lystra, impotent in his feet, being a cripple from his mother's womb, who never had walked:

⁸În Listra era un om neputincios de picioare, olog din naştere, care nu umblase niciodată.

⁹The same heard Paul speak: who stedfastly beholding him, and perceiving that he had faith to be healed,

⁹El şedea jos şi asculta pe Pavel cînd vorbea. Pavel s'a uitat ţintă la el, şi fiindcă a văzut că are credinţă ca să fie tămăduit,

¹⁰Said with a loud voice, Stand upright on thy feet. And he leaped and walked.

¹⁰a zis cu glas tare: ,,Scoală-te drept în picioare.`` Şi el s'a sculat dintr'o săritură, şi a început să umble.

¹¹And when the people saw what Paul had done, they lifted up their voices, saying in the speech of Lycaonia, The gods are come down to us in the likeness of men.

¹¹La vederea celor făcute de Pavel, noroadele şi-au ridicat glasul, şi au zis în limba licaoneană: ,,Zeii s'au pogorît la noi în chip omenesc.``

¹²And they called Barnabas, Jupiter; and Paul, Mercurius, because he was the chief speaker.

¹²Pe Barnaba îl numeau Jupiter, iar pe Pavel Mercur, pentrucă mînuia cuvîntul.

¹³Then the priest of Jupiter, which was before their city, brought oxen and garlands unto the gates, and would have done sacrifice with the people.

¹³Preotul lui Jupiter, al cărui templu era la intrarea cetăţii, a adus tauri şi cununi înaintea porţilor, şi voia să le aducă jertfă, împreună cu noroadele.

¹⁴Which when the apostles, Barnabas and Paul, heard of, they rent their clothes, and ran in among the people, crying out,

¹⁴Apostolii Barnaba şi Pavel, cînd au auzit lucrul acesta, şi-au rupt hainele, au sărit în mijlocul norodului, şi au strigat:

¹⁵And saying, Sirs, why do ye these things? We also are men of like passions with you, and preach unto you that ye should turn from these vanities unto the living God, which made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and all things that are therein:

¹⁵,,Oamenilor, de ce faceţi lucrul acesta? Şi noi sîntem oameni de aceeaş fire cu voi; noi vă aducem o veste bună, ca să vă întoarceţi dela aceste lucruri deşerte la Dumnezeul cel viu, care a făcut cerul, pămîntul şi marea, şi tot ce este în ele.

¹⁶Who in times past suffered all nations to walk in their own ways.

¹⁶El, în veacurile trecute, a lăsat pe toate Neamurile să umble pe căile lor,

¹⁷Nevertheless he left not himself without witness, in that he did good, and gave us rain from heaven, and fruitful seasons, filling our hearts with food and gladness.

¹⁷măcar că, drept vorbind, nu s'a lăsat fără mărturie, întrucît v'a făcut bine, v'a trimes ploi din cer, şi timpuri roditoare, v'a dat hrană din belşug, şi v'a umplut inimile de bucurie.``

¹⁸And with these sayings scarce restrained they the people, that they had not done sacrifice unto them.

¹⁸Abia au putut să împiedice, cu vorbele acestea, pe noroade, să le aducă jertfă.

¹⁹And there came thither certain Jews from Antioch and Iconium, who persuaded the people, and having stoned Paul, drew him out of the city, supposing he had been dead.

¹⁹Atunci au venit pe neaşteptate din Antiohia şi Iconia nişte Iudei, cari au aţîţat pe noroade. Aceştia, după ce au împroşcat pe Pavel cu pietre, l-au tîrît afară din cetate, crezînd că a murit.

²⁰Howbeit, as the disciples stood round about him, he rose up, and came into the city: and the next day he departed with Barnabas to Derbe.

²⁰Cînd l-au înconjurat însă ucenicii, Pavel s'a sculat şi a intrat în cetate. A doua zi, a plecat cu Barnaba la Derbe.

²¹And when they had preached the gospel to that city, and had taught many, they returned again to Lystra, and to Iconium, and Antioch,

²¹După ce au propovăduit Evanghelia în cetatea aceasta, şi au făcut mulţi ucenici, s'au întors la Listra, la Iconia şi la Antiohia,

²²Confirming the souls of the disciples, and exhorting them to continue in the faith, and that we must through much tribulation enter into the kingdom of God.

²²întărind sufletele ucenicilor. El îi îndemna să stăruie în credinţă şi spunea că în Împărăţia lui Dumnezeu trebuie să intrăm prin multe necazuri.

²³And when they had ordained them elders in every church, and had prayed with fasting, they commended them to the Lord, on whom they believed.

²³Au rînduit presbiteri în fiecare Biserică, şi după ce s'au rugat şi au postit, i-au încredinţat în mîna Domnului, în care crezuseră.

²⁴And after they had passed throughout Pisidia, they came to Pamphylia.

²⁴Au trecut apoi prin Pisidia, au venit în Pamfilia,

²⁵And when they had preached the word in Perga, they went down into Attalia:

²⁵au vestit Cuvîntul în Perga, şi s'au pogorît la Atalia.

²⁶And thence sailed to Antioch, from whence they had been recommended to the grace of God for the work which they fulfilled.

²⁶De acolo au mers cu corabia la Antiohia, de unde fuseseră încredinţaţi în grija harului lui Dumnezeu, pentru lucrarea, pe care o săvîrşiseră.

²⁷And when they were come, and had gathered the church together, they rehearsed all that God had done with them, and how he had opened the door of faith unto the Gentiles.

²⁷După venirea lor, au adunat Biserica, şi au istorisit tot ce făcuse Dumnezeu prin ei, şi cum deschisese Neamurilor uşa credinţei.

²⁸And there they abode long time with the disciples.

²⁸Şi au rămas destul de multă vreme acolo cu ucenicii.
