¹And certain men which came down from Judaea taught the brethren, and said, Except ye be circumcised after the manner of Moses, ye cannot be saved.

¹Cîţiva oameni, veniţi din Iudea, învăţau pe fraţi şi ziceau: Dacă nu sînteţi tăiaţi împrejur după obiceiul lui Moise, nu puteţi fi mîntuiţi.``

²When therefore Paul and Barnabas had no small dissension and disputation with them, they determined that Paul and Barnabas, and certain other of them, should go up to Jerusalem unto the apostles and elders about this question.

²Pavel şi Barnaba au avut cu ei un viu schimb de vorbe şi păreri deosebite; şi fraţii au hotărît ca Pavel şi Barnaba, şi cîţiva dintre ei, să se suie la Ierusalim la apostoli şi presbiteri, ca să -i întrebe asupra acestei neînţelegeri.

³And being brought on their way by the church, they passed through Phenice and Samaria, declaring the conversion of the Gentiles: and they caused great joy unto all the brethren.

³După ce au fost petrecuţi de Biserică pînă afară din cetate, şi-au urmat drumul prin Fenicia şi Samaria, istorisind întoarcerea Neamurilor la Dumnezeu; şi au făcut o mare bucurie tuturor fraţilor.

⁴And when they were come to Jerusalem, they were received of the church, and of the apostles and elders, and they declared all things that God had done with them.

⁴Cînd au ajuns la Ierusalim, au fost primiţi de Biserică, de apostoli şi de presbiteri, şi au istorisit tot ce făcuse Dumnezeu prin ei.

⁵But there rose up certain of the sect of the Pharisees which believed, saying, That it was needful to circumcise them, and to command them to keep the law of Moses.

⁵Atunci unii din partida Fariseilor, cari crezuseră, s'au ridicat, şi au zis că Neamurile trebuie să fie tăiate împrejur, şi să li se ceară să păzească Legea lui Moise.

⁶And the apostles and elders came together for to consider of this matter.

⁶Apostolii şi presbiterii s'au adunat laolaltă, ca să vadă ce este de făcut.

⁷And when there had been much disputing, Peter rose up, and said unto them, Men and brethren, ye know how that a good while ago God made choice among us, that the Gentiles by my mouth should hear the word of the gospel, and believe.

⁷După ce s'a făcut multă vorbă, s'a sculat Petru şi le -a zis: ,,Fraţilor, ştiţi că Dumnezeu, de o bună bucată de vreme, a făcut o alegere între voi, ca, prin gura mea, Neamurile să audă cuvîntul Evangheliei, şi să creadă.

⁸And God, which knoweth the hearts, bare them witness, giving them the Holy Ghost, even as he did unto us;

⁸Şi Dumnezeu, care cunoaşte inimile, a mărturisit pentru ei, şi le -a dat Duhul Sfînt ca şi nouă.

⁹And put no difference between us and them, purifying their hearts by faith.

⁹N'a făcut nici o deosebire între noi şi ei, întrucît le -a curăţit inimile prin credinţă.

¹⁰Now therefore why tempt ye God, to put a yoke upon the neck of the disciples, which neither our fathers nor we were able to bear?

¹⁰Acum dar, de ce ispitiţi pe Dumnezeu, şi puneţi pe grumazul ucenicilor un jug, pe care nici părinţii noştri, nici noi nu l-am putut purta?

¹¹But we believe that through the grace of the LORD Jesus Christ we shall be saved, even as they.

¹¹Ci credem că noi, ca şi ei, sîntem mîntuiţi prin harul Domnului Isus.``

¹²Then all the multitude kept silence, and gave audience to Barnabas and Paul, declaring what miracles and wonders God had wrought among the Gentiles by them.

¹²Toată adunarea a tăcut, şi a ascultat pe Barnaba şi pe Pavel, cari au istorisit toate semnele şi minunile, pe cari le făcuse Dumnezeu prin ei în mijlocul Neamurilor.

¹³And after they had held their peace, James answered, saying, Men and brethren, hearken unto me:

¹³Cînd au încetat ei de vorbit, Iacov a luat cuvîntul, şi a zis: ,,Fraţilor, ascultaţi-mă!

¹⁴Simeon hath declared how God at the first did visit the Gentiles, to take out of them a people for his name.

¹⁴Simon a spus cum mai întîi Dumnezeu Şi -a aruncat privirile peste Neamuri, ca să aleagă din mijlocul lor un popor, care să -I poarte Numele.

¹⁵And to this agree the words of the prophets; as it is written,

¹⁵Şi cu faptul acesta se potrivesc cuvintele proorocilor, după cum este scris:

¹⁶After this I will return, and will build again the tabernacle of David, which is fallen down; and I will build again the ruins thereof, and I will set it up:

¹⁶,După aceea, Mă voi întoarce, şi voi ridica din nou cortul lui David din prăbuşirea lui, îi voi zidi dărîmăturile, şi -l voi înălţa din nou:

¹⁷That the residue of men might seek after the Lord, and all the Gentiles, upon whom my name is called, saith the Lord, who doeth all these things.

¹⁷pentruca rămăşiţa de oameni să caute pe Domnul, ca şi toate Neamurile peste cari este chemat Numele Meu,

¹⁸Known unto God are all his works from the beginning of the world.

¹⁸zice Domnul, care face aceste lucruri, şi căruia Îi sînt cunoscute din vecinicie.`

¹⁹Wherefore my sentence is, that we trouble not them, which from among the Gentiles are turned to God:

¹⁹De aceea, eu sînt de părere să nu se pună greutăţi acelora dintre Neamuri cari se întorc la Dumnezeu;

²⁰But that we write unto them, that they abstain from pollutions of idols, and from fornication, and from things strangled, and from blood.

²⁰ci să li se scrie doar să se ferească de pîngăririle idolilor, de curvie, de dobitoace zugrumate şi de sînge.

²¹For Moses of old time hath in every city them that preach him, being read in the synagogues every sabbath day.

²¹Căci încă din vechime, Moise are în fiecare cetate oameni, cari -l propovăduiesc, fiindcă este citit în sinagogi în toate zilele de Sabat.``

²²Then pleased it the apostles and elders with the whole church, to send chosen men of their own company to Antioch with Paul and Barnabas; namely, Judas surnamed Barsabas and Silas, chief men among the brethren:

²²Atunci apostolii şi presbiterii1 şi întreaga Biserică au găsit cu cale să aleagă vreo cîţiva dintre ei, şi să -i trimeată la Antiohia, împreună cu Pavel şi Barnaba. Şi au ales pe Iuda, zis şi Barsaba, şi pe Sila, oameni cu vază între fraţi.

²³And they wrote letters by them after this manner; The apostles and elders and brethren send greeting unto the brethren which are of the Gentiles in Antioch and Syria and Cilicia.

²³Şi au scris astfel prin ei: ,,Apostolii, presbiterii (Sau: bătrîni.) şi fraţii: către fraţii dintre Neamuri, cari sînt în Antiohia, în Siria şi în Cilicia, plecăciune!

²⁴Forasmuch as we have heard, that certain which went out from us have troubled you with words, subverting your souls, saying, Ye must be circumcised, and keep the law: to whom we gave no such commandment:

²⁴Fiindcă am auzit că unii, plecaţi dintre noi, fără vreo însărcinare din partea noastră, v'au turburat prin vorbirile lor, şi v'au zdruncinat sufletele, zicînd să vă tăiaţi împrejur şi să păziţi Legea;

²⁵It seemed good unto us, being assembled with one accord, to send chosen men unto you with our beloved Barnabas and Paul,

²⁵noi, după ce ne-am adunat cu toţii laolaltă, cu un gînd, am găsit cu cale să alegem nişte oameni, şi să -i trimetem la voi, împreună cu prea iubiţii noştri Barnaba şi Pavel,

²⁶Men that have hazarded their lives for the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.

²⁶oamenii aceştia, cari şi-au pus în joc viaţa pentru Numele Domnului nostru Isus Hristos.

²⁷We have sent therefore Judas and Silas, who shall also tell you the same things by mouth.

²⁷Am trimes dar pe Iuda şi pe Sila, cari vă vor spune prin viu grai aceleaşi lucruri.

²⁸For it seemed good to the Holy Ghost, and to us, to lay upon you no greater burden than these necessary things;

²⁸Căci s'a părut nimerit Duhului Sfînt şi nouă, să nu mai punem peste voi nicio altă greutate decît ceeace trebuie,

²⁹That ye abstain from meats offered to idols, and from blood, and from things strangled, and from fornication: from which if ye keep yourselves, ye shall do well. Fare ye well.

²⁹adică: să vă feriţi de lucrurile jertfite idolilor, de sînge, de dobitoace zugrumate, şi de curvie, lucruri de cari, dacă vă veţi păzi, va fi bine de voi. Fiţi sănătoşi.``

³⁰So when they were dismissed, they came to Antioch: and when they had gathered the multitude together, they delivered the epistle:

³⁰Ei deci, şi-au luat rămas bun dela Biserică, şi s'au dus la Antiohia, unde au dat epistola mulţimii adunate.

³¹Which when they had read, they rejoiced for the consolation.

³¹După ce au citit -o, fraţii s'au bucurat de îmbărbătarea, pe care le -o aducea.

³²And Judas and Silas, being prophets also themselves, exhorted the brethren with many words, and confirmed them.

³²Iuda şi Sila, cari şi ei erau prooroci, au îndemnat pe fraţi, şi i-au întărit cu multe cuvinte.

³³And after they had tarried there a space, they were let go in peace from the brethren unto the apostles.

³³După cîtăva vreme, fraţii i-au lăsat să se întoarcă în pace la aceia de cari fuseseră trimeşi.

³⁴Notwithstanding it pleased Silas to abide there still.

³⁴Totuş Sila a găsit cu cale să rămînă acolo.

³⁵Paul also and Barnabas continued in Antioch, teaching and preaching the word of the Lord, with many others also.

³⁵Pavel şi Barnaba au rămas în Antiohia, şi învăţau pe norod şi propovăduiau, cu mulţi alţii, Cuvîntul Domnului.

³⁶And some days after Paul said unto Barnabas, Let us go again and visit our brethren in every city where we have preached the word of the LORD, and see how they do.

³⁶După cîteva zile, Pavel a zis lui Barnaba: ,,Să ne întoarcem, şi să mergem pela fraţii din toate cetăţile, în cari am vestit Cuvîntul Domnului, ca să vedem ce mai fac.``

³⁷And Barnabas determined to take with them John, whose surname was Mark.

³⁷Barnaba voia să ia cu el şi pe Ioan, numit Marcu;

³⁸But Paul thought not good to take him with them, who departed from them from Pamphylia, and went not with them to the work.

³⁸dar Pavel socotea că nu este bine să ia cu ei pe acela, cari îi părăsise din Pamfilia, şi nu -i însoţise în lucrarea lor.

³⁹And the contention was so sharp between them, that they departed asunder one from the other: and so Barnabas took Mark, and sailed unto Cyprus;

³⁹Neînţelegerea aceasta a fost destul de mare, ca să -i facă să se despartă unul de altul. Barnaba a luat cu el pe Marcu, şi a plecat cu corabia la Cipru.

⁴⁰And Paul chose Silas, and departed, being recommended by the brethren unto the grace of God.

⁴⁰Pavel şi -a ales pe Sila, şi a plecat, dupăce a fost încredinţat de fraţi în grija harului Domnului.

⁴¹And he went through Syria and Cilicia, confirming the churches.

⁴¹El a străbătut Siria şi Cilicia, întărind Bisericile.
