¹But a certain man named Ananias, with Sapphira his wife, sold a possession,

¹Dar un om, numit Anania, a vîndut o moşioară, cu nevastă-sa Safira,

²And kept back part of the price, his wife also being privy to it, and brought a certain part, and laid it at the apostles' feet.

²şi a oprit o parte din preţ, cu ştirea nevestei lui; apoi a adus partea cealaltă, şi a pus -o la picioarele apostolilor.

³But Peter said, Ananias, why hath Satan filled thine heart to lie to the Holy Ghost, and to keep back part of the price of the land?

³Petru i -a zis: ,,Anania, pentruce ţi -a umplut Satana inima ca să minţi pe Duhul Sfînt, şi să ascunzi o parte din preţul moşioarei?

⁴Whiles it remained, was it not thine own? and after it was sold, was it not in thine own power? why hast thou conceived this thing in thine heart? thou hast not lied unto men, but unto God.

⁴Dacă n'o vindeai, nu rămînea ea a ta? Şi, după ce ai vîndut -o, nu puteai să faci ce vrei cu preţul ei? Cum s'a putut naşte un astfel de gînd în inima ta? N'ai minţit pe oameni, ci pe Dumnezeu.``

⁵And Ananias hearing these words fell down, and gave up the ghost: and great fear came on all them that heard these things.

⁵Anania, cînd a auzit cuvintele acestea, a căzut jos, şi şi -a dat sufletul. O mare frică a apucat pe toţi ceice ascultau aceste lucruri.

⁶And the young men arose, wound him up, and carried him out, and buried him.

⁶Flăcăii s'au sculat, l'au învelit, l-au scos afară, şi l-au îngropat.

⁷And it was about the space of three hours after, when his wife, not knowing what was done, came in.

⁷Cam după trei ceasuri, a intrat şi nevastă-sa, fără să ştie ce se întîmplase.

⁸And Peter answered unto her, Tell me whether ye sold the land for so much? And she said, Yea, for so much.

⁸Petru i -a zis: ,,Spune-mi, cu atît aţi vîndut moşioara?`` ,,Da``, a răspuns ea, ,,cu atîta.``

⁹Then Peter said unto her, How is it that ye have agreed together to tempt the Spirit of the Lord? behold, the feet of them which have buried thy husband are at the door, and shall carry thee out.

⁹Atunci Petru i -a zis: ,,Cum de v'aţi înţeles între voi să ispitiţi pe Duhul Domnului? Iată picioarele celorce au îngropat pe bărbatul tău, sînt la uşă, şi te vor lua şi pe tine.``

¹⁰Then fell she down straightway at his feet, and yielded up the ghost: and the young men came in, and found her dead, and, carrying her forth, buried her by her husband.

¹⁰Ea a căzut îndată la picioarele lui, şi şi -a dat sufletul. Cînd au intrat flăcăii, au găsit -o moartă; au scos -o afară, şi au îngropat -o lîngă bărbatul ei.

¹¹And great fear came upon all the church, and upon as many as heard these things.

¹¹O mare frică a cuprins toată adunarea şi pe toţi cei ce au auzit aceste lucruri.

¹²And by the hands of the apostles were many signs and wonders wrought among the people; (and they were all with one accord in Solomon's porch.

¹²Prin mînile apostolilor se făceau multe semne şi minuni în norod. Toţi stăteau împreună în pridvorul lui Solomon,

¹³And of the rest durst no man join himself to them: but the people magnified them.

¹³şi niciunul din ceilalţi nu cuteza să se lipească de ei; dar norodul îi lăuda în gura mare.

¹⁴And believers were the more added to the Lord, multitudes both of men and women.)

¹⁴Numărul celor ce credeau în Domnul, bărbaţi şi femei, se mărea tot mai mult;

¹⁵Insomuch that they brought forth the sick into the streets, and laid them on beds and couches, that at the least the shadow of Peter passing by might overshadow some of them.

¹⁵pînă acolo că scoteau pe bolnavi chiar pe uliţe, şi îi puneau pe paturi şi pe aşternuturi, pentru ca, atunci cînd va trece Petru, măcar umbra lui să treacă peste vreunul din ei.

¹⁶There came also a multitude out of the cities round about unto Jerusalem, bringing sick folks, and them which were vexed with unclean spirits: and they were healed every one.

¹⁶Mulţimea, deasemenea, alerga la Ierusalim, din cetăţile vecine, şi aducea pe cei bolnavi şi pe cei chinuiţi de duhuri necurate: şi toţi se vindecau.

¹⁷Then the high priest rose up, and all they that were with him, (which is the sect of the Sadducees,) and were filled with indignation,

¹⁷Însă marele preot şi toţi cei ce erau împreună cu el, adică partida Saducheilor, s'au sculat plini de pizmă,

¹⁸And laid their hands on the apostles, and put them in the common prison.

¹⁸au pus mînile pe apostoli, şi i-au aruncat în temniţa de obşte.

¹⁹But the angel of the Lord by night opened the prison doors, and brought them forth, and said,

¹⁹Dar un înger al Domnului a deschis uşile temniţei, noaptea, i -a scos afară, şi le -a zis:

²⁰Go, stand and speak in the temple to the people all the words of this life.

²⁰,,Duceţi-vă, staţi în Templu, şi vestiţi norodului toate cuvintele vieţii acesteia.``

²¹And when they heard that, they entered into the temple early in the morning, and taught. But the high priest came, and they that were with him, and called the council together, and all the senate of the children of Israel, and sent to the prison to have them brought.

²¹Cînd au auzit ei aceste vorbe, au intrat dis de dimineaţă în Templu, şi au început să înveţe pe norod. Marele preot şi cei ce erau cu el, au venit pe neaşteptate, au adunat Soborul şi pe toată bătrînimea fiilor lui Israel, şi au trimes la temniţă să aducă pe apostoli.

²²But when the officers came, and found them not in the prison, they returned and told,

²²Aprozii, la venirea lor, nu i-au găsit în temniţă. S'au întors şi au spus astfel:

²³Saying, The prison truly found we shut with all safety, and the keepers standing without before the doors: but when we had opened, we found no man within.

²³,,Temniţa am găsit -o încuiată cu toată grija, şi pe păzitori stînd în picioare la uşi; dar, cînd am deschis, n'am găsit pe nimeni înlăuntru.``

²⁴Now when the high priest and the captain of the temple and the chief priests heard these things, they doubted of them whereunto this would grow.

²⁴Cînd au auzit aceste vorbe, căpitanul Templului şi preoţii cei mai de seamă au rămas înmărmuriţi, şi nu ştiau ce să creadă despre apostoli şi despre urmările acestei întîmplări.

²⁵Then came one and told them, saying, Behold, the men whom ye put in prison are standing in the temple, and teaching the people.

²⁵Cineva a venit şi le -a spus: ,,Iată că oamenii, pe cari i-aţi băgat în temniţă, stau în Templu, şi învaţă pe norod.``

²⁶Then went the captain with the officers, and brought them without violence: for they feared the people, lest they should have been stoned.

²⁶Atunci căpitanul Templului a plecat cu aprozii, şi i-au adus; dar nu cu sila, căci se temeau să nu fie ucişi cu pietre de norod.

²⁷And when they had brought them, they set them before the council: and the high priest asked them,

²⁷După ce i-au adus, i-au pus înaintea Soborului. Şi marele preot i -a întrebat astfel:

²⁸Saying, Did not we straitly command you that ye should not teach in this name? and, behold, ye have filled Jerusalem with your doctrine, and intend to bring this man's blood upon us.

²⁸,,Nu v'am poruncit noi cu tot dinadinsul să nu învăţaţi pe norod în Numele acesta? Şi voi iată că aţi umplut Ierusalimul cu învăţătura voastră, şi căutaţi să aruncaţi asupra noastră sîngele acelui om.``

²⁹Then Peter and the other apostles answered and said, We ought to obey God rather than men.

²⁹Petru şi apostolii ceilalţi, drept răspuns, i-au zis: ,,Trebuie să ascultăm mai mult de Dumnezeu decît de oameni!

³⁰The God of our fathers raised up Jesus, whom ye slew and hanged on a tree.

³⁰Dumnezeul părinţilor noştri a înviat pe Isus, pe care voi L-aţi omorît, atîrnîndu -L pe lemn.

³¹Him hath God exalted with his right hand to be a Prince and a Saviour, for to give repentance to Israel, and forgiveness of sins.

³¹Pe acest Isus, Dumnezeu L -a înălţat cu puterea Lui, şi L -a făcut Domn şi Mîntuitor, ca să dea lui Israel pocăinţa şi iertarea păcatelor.

³²And we are his witnesses of these things; and so is also the Holy Ghost, whom God hath given to them that obey him.

³²Noi sîntem martori ai acestor lucruri, ca şi Duhul Sfînt, pe care L -a dat Dumnezeu celor ce ascultă de El.``

³³When they heard that, they were cut to the heart, and took counsel to slay them.

³³Cînd au auzit ei aceste vorbe, îi tăia la inimă şi s-au sfătuit să -i omoare.

³⁴Then stood there up one in the council, a Pharisee, named Gamaliel, a doctor of the law, had in reputation among all the people, and commanded to put the apostles forth a little space;

³⁴Dar un Fariseu numit Gamaliel, un învăţător al Legii, preţuit de tot norodul, s'a sculat în picioare în Sobor şi a poruncit să scoată puţin afară pe apostoli.

³⁵And said unto them, Ye men of Israel, take heed to yourselves what ye intend to do as touching these men.

³⁵Apoi le -a zis: ,,Bărbaţi Israeliţi, luaţi seama bine ce aveţi de gînd să faceţi oamenilor acestora.

³⁶For before these days rose up Theudas, boasting himself to be somebody; to whom a number of men, about four hundred, joined themselves: who was slain; and all, as many as obeyed him, were scattered, and brought to nought.

³⁶Căci nu de mult s'a ivit Teuda, care zicea că el este ceva, şi la care s'au alipit aproape patru sute de bărbaţi. El a fost omorît, şi toţi cei ce îl urmaseră, au fost risipiţi şi nimiciţi.

³⁷After this man rose up Judas of Galilee in the days of the taxing, and drew away much people after him: he also perished; and all, even as many as obeyed him, were dispersed.

³⁷După el s'a ivit Iuda Galileanul, pe vremea înscrierii, şi a tras mult norod de partea lui: a perit şi el, şi toţi cei ce -l urmaseră, au fost risipiţi.

³⁸And now I say unto you, Refrain from these men, and let them alone: for if this counsel or this work be of men, it will come to nought:

³⁸Şi acum, eu vă spun: ,Nu mai necăjiţi pe oamenii aceştia, şi lăsaţi -i în pace! Dacă încercarea sau lucrarea aceasta este dela oameni, se va nimici;

³⁹But if it be of God, ye cannot overthrow it; lest haply ye be found even to fight against God.

³⁹dar dacă este dela Dumnezeu, n'o veţi putea nimici. Să nu vă pomeniţi că luptaţi împotriva lui Dumnezeu.``

⁴⁰And to him they agreed: and when they had called the apostles, and beaten them, they commanded that they should not speak in the name of Jesus, and let them go.

⁴⁰Ei au ascultat de el. Şi, după ce au chemat pe apostoli, au pus să -i bată cu nuiele, i-au oprit să vorbească în Numele lui Isus, şi le-au dat drumul.

⁴¹And they departed from the presence of the council, rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer shame for his name.

⁴¹Ei au plecat dinaintea Soborului, şi s-au bucurat că au fost învredniciţi să fie batjocoriţi, pentru Numele Lui.

⁴²And daily in the temple, and in every house, they ceased not to teach and preach Jesus Christ.

⁴²Şi în fiecare zi, în Templu şi acasă, nu încetau să înveţe pe oameni, şi să vestească Evanghelia lui Isus Hristos.
