¹When I would have healed Israel, then the iniquity of Ephraim was discovered, and the wickedness of Samaria: for they commit falsehood; and the thief cometh in, and the troop of robbers spoileth without.

¹Cînd vreau să vindec pe Israel, atunci se descopere nelegiuirea lui Efraim şi răutatea Samariei, căci lucrează cu vicleşug. Înlăuntru vine hoţul, şi ceata de tîlhari jăfuieşte afară.

²And they consider not in their hearts that I remember all their wickedness: now their own doings have beset them about; they are before my face.

²Şi nu se gîndesc în inima lor că Eu îmi aduc aminte de toată răutatea lor; faptele lor îi şi înconjoară, şi stau înaintea Mea!

³They make the king glad with their wickedness, and the princes with their lies.

³Ei veselesc pe împărat cu răutatea lor, şi pe căpetenii cu minciunile lor.

⁴They are all adulterers, as an oven heated by the baker, who ceaseth from raising after he hath kneaded the dough, until it be leavened.

⁴Toţi sînt preacurvari, ca un cuptor încălzit de brutar: şi brutarul încetează să mai aţîţe focul, de cînd a frămîntat plămădeala pînă s'a ridicat.

⁵In the day of our king the princes have made him sick with bottles of wine; he stretched out his hand with scorners.

⁵În ziua împăratului nostru, căpeteniile se îmbolnăvesc de prea mult vin, împăratul dă mîna cu batjocoritorii.

⁶For they have made ready their heart like an oven, whiles they lie in wait: their baker sleepeth all the night; in the morning it burneth as a flaming fire.

⁶Le arde inima după curse ca un cuptor; toată noaptea le fumegă mînia, iar dimineaţa arde ca un foc aprins.

⁷They are all hot as an oven, and have devoured their judges; all their kings are fallen: there is none among them that calleth unto me.

⁷Toţi ard ca un cuptor, şi îşi mănîncă judecătorii; toţi împăraţii lor cad; niciunul din ei nu Mă cheamă.

⁸Ephraim, he hath mixed himself among the people; Ephraim is a cake not turned.

⁸Efraim se amestecă printre popoare, Efraim este o turtă, care n'a fost întoarsă.

⁹Strangers have devoured his strength, and he knoweth it not: yea, gray hairs are here and there upon him, yet he knoweth not.

⁹Nişte străini îi mănîncă puterea, şi el nu-şi dă seama, îl apucă bătrîneţa, şi el nu-şi dă seama.

¹⁰And the pride of Israel testifieth to his face: and they do not return to the LORD their God, nor seek him for all this.

¹⁰Măcar că mîndria lui Israel mărturiseşte împotriva lui, tot nu se întorc la Domnul, Dumnezeul lor, şi tot nu -L caută, cu toate aceste pedepse!

¹¹Ephraim also is like a silly dove without heart: they call to Egypt, they go to Assyria.

¹¹Ci Efraim a ajuns ca o turturică proastă, fără pricepere; ei cheamă Egiptul, şi aleargă în Asiria.

¹²When they shall go, I will spread my net upon them; I will bring them down as the fowls of the heaven; I will chastise them, as their congregation hath heard.

¹²Dar ori de cîteori se duc, Îmi voi întinde laţul peste ei, îi voi doborî ca pe păsările cerului; şi -i voi pedepsi cum le-am spus în adunarea lor.

¹³Woe unto them! for they have fled from me: destruction unto them! because they have transgressed against me: though I have redeemed them, yet they have spoken lies against me.

¹³Vai de ei, pentrucă fug de Mine! Pieirea vine peste ei, pentrucă nu-Mi sînt credincioşi! Aş vrea să -i scap, dar ei spun minciuni împotriva Mea!

¹⁴And they have not cried unto me with their heart, when they howled upon their beds: they assemble themselves for corn and wine, and they rebel against me.

¹⁴Nu strigă către Mine din inimă, ci se bocesc în aşternutul lor; turbează după grîu şi must, şi se răzvrătesc împotriva Mea.

¹⁵Though I have bound and strengthened their arms, yet do they imagine mischief against me.

¹⁵I-am pedepsit, I-am întărit braţele, dar ei gîndesc rău împotriva Mea.

¹⁶They return, but not to the most High: they are like a deceitful bow: their princes shall fall by the sword for the rage of their tongue: this shall be their derision in the land of Egypt.

¹⁶Se întorc, dar nu la Cel Prea Înalt; sînt ca un arc înşelător. Mai marii lor vor cădea ucişi de sabie, din pricina vorbirii lor îndrăzneţe, care -i va face de rîs în ţara Egiptului.
