¹So these three men ceased to answer Job, because he was righteous in his own eyes.

¹Aceşti trei oameni au încetat să mai răspundă lui Iov, pentrucă el se socotea fără vină.

²Then was kindled the wrath of Elihu the son of Barachel the Buzite, of the kindred of Ram: against Job was his wrath kindled, because he justified himself rather than God.

²Atunci s'a aprins de mînie Elihu, fiul lui Baracheel din Buz, din familia lui Ram. El s'a aprins de mînie împotriva lui Iov, pentrucă zicea că este fără vină înaintea lui Dumnezeu.

³Also against his three friends was his wrath kindled, because they had found no answer, and yet had condemned Job.

³Şi s'a aprins de mînie împotriva celor trei prieteni ai lui, pentru că nu găseau nimic de răspuns şi totuş osîndeau pe Iov.

⁴Now Elihu had waited till Job had spoken, because they were elder than he.

⁴Fiindcă ei erau mai în vîrstă decît el, Elihu aşteptase pînă în clipa aceasta, ca să vorbească lui Iov.

⁵When Elihu saw that there was no answer in the mouth of these three men, then his wrath was kindled.

⁵Dar, văzînd că nu mai era niciun răspuns în gura acestor trei oameni, Elihu s'a aprins de mînie.

⁶And Elihu the son of Barachel the Buzite answered and said, I am young, and ye are very old; wherefore I was afraid, and durst not shew you mine opinion.

⁶Şi Elihu, fiul lui Baracheel din Buz, a luat cuvîntul, şi a zis: ,,Eu sînt tînăr, şi voi sînteţi bătrîni: de aceea m'am temut, şi m'am ferit să vă arăt gîndul meu.

⁷I said, Days should speak, and multitude of years should teach wisdom.

⁷Eu îmi ziceam: ,Să vorbească bătrîneţa, marele număr de ani să înveţe pe alţii înţelepciunea.`

⁸But there is a spirit in man: and the inspiration of the Almighty giveth them understanding.

⁸Dar, de fapt, în om, duhul, suflarea Celui Atotputernic, dă priceperea.

⁹Great men are not always wise: neither do the aged understand judgment.

⁹Nu vîrsta aduce înţelepciunea, nu bătrîneţa te face în stare să judeci.

¹⁰Therefore I said, Hearken to me; I also will shew mine opinion.

¹⁰Iată de ce zic: ,Ascultaţi-mă! Îmi voi spune şi eu părerea.

¹¹Behold, I waited for your words; I gave ear to your reasons, whilst ye searched out what to say.

¹¹Am aşteptat sfîrşitul cuvîntărilor voastre, v'am urmărit dovezile, cercetarea pe care aţi făcut -o cuvintelor lui Iov.

¹²Yea, I attended unto you, and, behold, there was none of you that convinced Job, or that answered his words:

¹²V'am dat toată luarea aminte; şi iată că, niciunul din voi nu l -a încredinţat, niciunul nu i -a răsturnat cuvintele.

¹³Lest ye should say, We have found out wisdom: God thrusteth him down, not man.

¹³Să nu ziceţi însă: ,În el noi am găsit înţelepciunea; numai Dumnezeu îl poate înfunda, nu un om!`

¹⁴Now he hath not directed his words against me: neither will I answer him with your speeches.

¹⁴Mie nu mi -a vorbit deadreptul: de aceea eu îi voi răspunde cu totul altfel decît voi.

¹⁵They were amazed, they answered no more: they left off speaking.

¹⁵Ei se tem, nu mai răspund! Li s'a tăiat cuvîntul!

¹⁶When I had waited, (for they spake not, but stood still, and answered no more;)

¹⁶Am aşteptat pînă şi-au sfîrşit cuvîntările, pînă s'au oprit şi n'au ştiut ce să mai răspundă.

¹⁷I said, I will answer also my part, I also will shew mine opinion.

¹⁷Vreau să răspund şi eu la rîndul meu, vreau să spun şi eu ce gîndesc.

¹⁸For I am full of matter, the spirit within me constraineth me.

¹⁸Căci sînt plin de cuvinte, îmi dă ghes duhul înlăuntrul meu;

¹⁹Behold, my belly is as wine which hath no vent; it is ready to burst like new bottles.

¹⁹lăuntrul meu este ca un vin care n'are pe unde să iasă, ca nişte burdufuri noi, gata să plesnească.

²⁰I will speak, that I may be refreshed: I will open my lips and answer.

²⁰Voi vorbi deci, ca să răsuflu în voie, îmi voi deschide buzele şi voi răspunde.

²¹Let me not, I pray you, accept any man's person, neither let me give flattering titles unto man.

²¹Nu voi căuta la înfăţişare, nu voi linguşi pe nimeni;

²²For I know not to give flattering titles; in so doing my maker would soon take me away.

²²căci nu ştiu să linguşesc: altfel, într'o clipeală m'ar lua Ziditorul meu.
