¹These things have I spoken unto you, that ye should not be offended.

¹V-am spus aceste lucruri, pentruca ele să nu fie pentru voi un prilej de cădere.

²They shall put you out of the synagogues: yea, the time cometh, that whosoever killeth you will think that he doeth God service.

²Au să vă dea afară din sinagogi: ba încă, va veni vremea cînd, oricine vă va ucide, să creadă că aduce o slujbă lui Dumnezeu.

³And these things will they do unto you, because they have not known the Father, nor me.

³Şi se vor purta astfel cu voi, pentrucă n'au cunoscut nici pe Tatăl, nici pe Mine.

⁴But these things have I told you, that when the time shall come, ye may remember that I told you of them. And these things I said not unto you at the beginning, because I was with you.

⁴V'am spus aceste lucruri, pentruca, atunci cînd le va veni ceasul să se împlinească, să vă aduceţi aminte că vi le-am spus. Nu vi le-am spus dela început, pentrucă eram cu voi.

⁵But now I go my way to him that sent me; and none of you asketh me, Whither goest thou?

⁵Acum Mă duc la Cel ce M'a trimes; şi nimeni din voi nu Mă întreabă: ,Unde Te duci?`

⁶But because I have said these things unto you, sorrow hath filled your heart.

⁶Dar, pentrucă v'am spus aceste lucruri, întristarea v'a umplut inima.

⁷Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you.

⁷Totuş, vă spun adevărul: Vă este de folos să Mă duc; căci, dacă nu Mă duc Eu, Mîngîietorul nu va veni la voi; dar dacă Mă duc, vi -L voi trimete.

⁸And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment:

⁸Şi cînd va veni El, va dovedi lumea vinovată în ce priveşte păcatul, neprihănirea şi judecata.

⁹Of sin, because they believe not on me;

⁹În ce priveşte păcatul: fiindcă ei nu cred în Mine;

¹⁰Of righteousness, because I go to my Father, and ye see me no more;

¹⁰în ce priveşte neprihănirea: fiindcă Mă duc la Tatăl, şi nu Mă veţi mai vedea;

¹¹Of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged.

¹¹în ce priveşte judecata: fiindcă stăpînitorul lumii acesteia este judecat.

¹²I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now.

¹²Mai am să vă spun multe lucruri, dar acum nu le puteţi purta.

¹³Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.

¹³Cînd va veni Mîngîietorul, Duhul adevărului, are să vă călăuzească în tot adevărul; căci El nu va vorbi dela El, ci va vorbi tot ce va fi auzit, şi vă va descoperi lucrurile viitoare.

¹⁴He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you.

¹⁴El Mă va proslăvi, pentrucă va lua din ce este al Meu, şi vă va descoperi.

¹⁵All things that the Father hath are mine: therefore said I, that he shall take of mine, and shall shew it unto you.

¹⁵Tot ce are Tatăl, este al Meu; deaceea am zis că va lua din ce este al Meu, şi vă va descoperi.

¹⁶A little while, and ye shall not see me: and again, a little while, and ye shall see me, because I go to the Father.

¹⁶Peste puţină vreme, nu Mă veţi mai vedea; apoi iarăş peste puţină vreme, Mă veţi vedea, pentrucă Mă duc la Tatăl.``

¹⁷Then said some of his disciples among themselves, What is this that he saith unto us, A little while, and ye shall not see me: and again, a little while, and ye shall see me: and, Because I go to the Father?

¹⁷La auzul acestor vorbe, unii din ucenicii Lui au zis între ei: ,,Ce însemnează cuvintele acestea: ,Peste puţină vreme, nu Mă veţi mai vedea;` şi: ,Apoi iarăş peste puţină vreme Mă veţi vedea?` Şi: ,Pentrucă Mă duc la Tatăl?``

¹⁸They said therefore, What is this that he saith, A little while? we cannot tell what he saith.

¹⁸Ei ziceau deci: ,,Ce însemnează aceasta: ,Peste puţină vreme?` Nu ştim ce vrea să spună.``

¹⁹Now Jesus knew that they were desirous to ask him, and said unto them, Do ye enquire among yourselves of that I said, A little while, and ye shall not see me: and again, a little while, and ye shall see me?

¹⁹Isus a cunoscut că voiau să -L întrebe, şi le -a zis: ,,Vă întrebaţi între voi ce însemnează cuvintele: ,Peste puţină vreme, nu Mă veţi mai vedea;` şi: ,Apoi iarăş peste puţină vreme, Mă veţi vedea?`

²⁰Verily, verily, I say unto you, That ye shall weep and lament, but the world shall rejoice: and ye shall be sorrowful, but your sorrow shall be turned into joy.

²⁰Adevărat, adevărat vă spun că, voi veţi plînge şi, vă veţi tîrgui, iar lumea se va bucura; vă veţi întrista, dar întristarea voastră se va preface în bucurie.

²¹A woman when she is in travail hath sorrow, because her hour is come: but as soon as she is delivered of the child, she remembereth no more the anguish, for joy that a man is born into the world.

²¹Femeia, cînd este în durerile naşterii, se întristează, pentrucă i -a sosit ceasul; dar dupăce a născut pruncul, nu-şi mai aduce aminte de suferinţă, de bucurie că s'a născut un om pe lume.

²²And ye now therefore have sorrow: but I will see you again, and your heart shall rejoice, and your joy no man taketh from you.

²²Tot aşa şi voi: acum sînteţi plini de întristare; dar Eu vă voi vedea iarăş, inima vi se va bucura, şi nimeni nu vă va răpi bucuria voastră.

²³And in that day ye shall ask me nothing. Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, he will give it you.

²³În ziua aceea, nu Mă veţi mai întreba de nimic. Adevărat, adevărat, vă spun că, orice veţi cere dela Tatăl, în Numele Meu, vă va da.

²⁴Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name: ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full.

²⁴Pînă acum n'aţi cerut nimic în Numele Meu: cereţi, şi veţi căpăta, pentruca bucuria voastră să fie deplină.

²⁵These things have I spoken unto you in proverbs: but the time cometh, when I shall no more speak unto you in proverbs, but I shall shew you plainly of the Father.

²⁵V'am spus aceste lucruri în pilde. Vine ceasul cînd nu vă voi mai vorbi în pilde, ci vă voi vorbi desluşit despre Tatăl.

²⁶At that day ye shall ask in my name: and I say not unto you, that I will pray the Father for you:

²⁶În ziua aceea, veţi cere în Numele Meu, şi nu vă zic că voi ruga pe Tatăl pentru voi.

²⁷For the Father himself loveth you, because ye have loved me, and have believed that I came out from God.

²⁷Căci Tatăl însuş vă iubeşte, pentrucă M'aţi iubit, şi aţi crezut că am ieşit dela Dumnezeu.

²⁸I came forth from the Father, and am come into the world: again, I leave the world, and go to the Father.

²⁸Am ieşit dela Tatăl, şi am venit în lume; acum las lumea, şi Mă duc la Tatăl.``

²⁹His disciples said unto him, Lo, now speakest thou plainly, and speakest no proverb.

²⁹Ucenicii Săi I-au zis: ,,Iată că acum vorbeşti desluşit, şi nu spui nicio pildă.

³⁰Now are we sure that thou knowest all things, and needest not that any man should ask thee: by this we believe that thou camest forth from God.

³⁰Acum cunoaştem că ştii toate lucrurile, şi n'ai nevoie să Te întrebe cineva; de aceea credem că ai ieşit dela Dumnezeu.``

³¹Jesus answered them, Do ye now believe?

³¹,,Acum credeţi?`` le -a răspuns Isus.

³²Behold, the hour cometh, yea, is now come, that ye shall be scattered, every man to his own, and shall leave me alone: and yet I am not alone, because the Father is with me.

³²,,Iată că vine ceasul, şi a şi venit, cînd veţi fi risipiţi fiecare la ale lui; şi pe Mine Mă veţi lăsa singur; dar nu sînt singur, căci Tatăl este cu Mine.

³³These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.

³³V'am spus aceste lucruri ca să aveţi pace în Mine. În lume veţi avea necazuri; dar îndrăzniţi, Eu am biruit lumea.``
