¹And it came to pass, when Jabin king of Hazor had heard those things, that he sent to Jobab king of Madon, and to the king of Shimron, and to the king of Achshaph,

¹Iabin, împăratul Haţorului, auzind de aceste lucruri, a trimes soli la Iobab, împăratul Madonului, la împăratul Şimronului, la împăratul Acşafului,

²And to the kings that were on the north of the mountains, and of the plains south of Chinneroth, and in the valley, and in the borders of Dor on the west,

²la împăraţii cari erau la miază noapte de munte, în cîmpia dela miazăzi de Chineret, în vale, şi pe înălţimile Dorului la apus,

³And to the Canaanite on the east and on the west, and to the Amorite, and the Hittite, and the Perizzite, and the Jebusite in the mountains, and to the Hivite under Hermon in the land of Mizpeh.

³Cananiţilor dela răsărit şi dela apus, Amoriţilor, Hetiţilor, Fereziţilor, Iebusiţilor în munte, şi Heviţilor la poalele Hermonului în ţara Miţpa.

⁴And they went out, they and all their hosts with them, much people, even as the sand that is upon the sea shore in multitude, with horses and chariots very many.

⁴Au ieşit, ei şi toate oştirile lor împreună cu ei, alcătuind un popor fără număr, ca nisipul care este pe marginea mării, şi avînd cai şi cară în foarte mare număr.

⁵And when all these kings were met together, they came and pitched together at the waters of Merom, to fight against Israel.

⁵Toţi împăraţii aceştia au hotărît un loc de întîlnire, şi au venit de au tăbărît împreună la apele Merom, ca să lupte împotriva lui Israel.

⁶And the LORD said unto Joshua, Be not afraid because of them: for to morrow about this time will I deliver them up all slain before Israel: thou shalt hough their horses, and burn their chariots with fire.

⁶Domnul a zis lui Iosua: ,,Nu te teme de ei, căci mîne, pe vremea aceasta, îi voi da bătuţi pe toţi înaintea lui Israel. Cailor să le tai vinele picioarelor, iar carăle lor să le arzi în foc``.

⁷So Joshua came, and all the people of war with him, against them by the waters of Merom suddenly; and they fell upon them.

⁷Iosua, cu toţi oamenii lui de război, au venit pe neaşteptate peste ei la apele Merom, şi s'au năpustit în mijlocul lor.

⁸And the LORD delivered them into the hand of Israel, who smote them, and chased them unto great Zidon, and unto Misrephothmaim, and unto the valley of Mizpeh eastward; and they smote them, until they left them none remaining.

⁸Domnul i -a dat în mînile lui Israel; ei i-au bătut şi i-au urmărit pînă la Sidonul cel mare, pînă la Misrefot-Maim, şi pînă în valea Miţpa la răsărit; i-au bătut, fără să lase să scape vreunul.

⁹And Joshua did unto them as the LORD bade him: he houghed their horses, and burnt their chariots with fire.

⁹Iosua le -a făcut cum îi spusese Domnul: cailor le -a tăiat vinele picioarelor, iar carăle lor le -a ars în foc.

¹⁰And Joshua at that time turned back, and took Hazor, and smote the king thereof with the sword: for Hazor beforetime was the head of all those kingdoms.

¹⁰La întoarcere, şi în acelaş timp, Iosua a luat Haţorul, şi a trecut prin sabie pe împăratul lui. Haţorul era mai înainte capitala tuturor acestor împărăţii.

¹¹And they smote all the souls that were therein with the edge of the sword, utterly destroying them: there was not any left to breathe: and he burnt Hazor with fire.

¹¹Au trecut prin ascuţişul săbiei şi au nimicit cu desăvîrşire pe toţi ceice se găseau în el: n'a rămas nimic din ce avea suflare de viaţă, şi au pus foc Haţorului.

¹²And all the cities of those kings, and all the kings of them, did Joshua take, and smote them with the edge of the sword, and he utterly destroyed them, as Moses the servant of the LORD commanded.

¹²Iosua a luat deasemenea toate cetăţile împăraţilor acelora, şi pe toţi împăraţii lor i -a trecut prin ascuţişul săbiei, şi i -a nimicit cu desăvîrşire, cum poruncise Moise, robul Domnului.

¹³But as for the cities that stood still in their strength, Israel burned none of them, save Hazor only; that did Joshua burn.

¹³Dar Israel n'a ars niciuna din cetăţile aşezate pe dealuri, afară numai de Haţor, care a fost ars de Iosua.

¹⁴And all the spoil of these cities, and the cattle, the children of Israel took for a prey unto themselves; but every man they smote with the edge of the sword, until they had destroyed them, neither left they any to breathe.

¹⁴Copiii lui Israel au păstrat pentru ei toată prada cetăţilor acelora şi vitele; dar au trecut prin ascuţişul săbiei pe toţi oamenii, pînă i-au nimicit, fără să lase ceva din ce are suflare de viaţă.

¹⁵As the LORD commanded Moses his servant, so did Moses command Joshua, and so did Joshua; he left nothing undone of all that the LORD commanded Moses.

¹⁵Iosua a împlinit poruncile date de Domnul robului Său Moise, şi de Moise lui Iosua; n'a lăsat nimic neîmplinit din tot ce poruncise lui Moise Domnul.

¹⁶So Joshua took all that land, the hills, and all the south country, and all the land of Goshen, and the valley, and the plain, and the mountain of Israel, and the valley of the same;

¹⁶Astfel Iosua a luat toată ţara aceasta, muntele, toată partea de miazăzi, toată ţara Gosen, valea, cîmpia, muntele lui Israel şi văile lui,

¹⁷Even from the mount Halak, that goeth up to Seir, even unto Baalgad in the valley of Lebanon under mount Hermon: and all their kings he took, and smote them, and slew them.

¹⁷dela muntele cel pleşuv care se înalţă spre Seir pînă la Baal-Gad, în valea Libanului, la poalele muntelui Hermon. A luat pe toţi împăraţii lor, i -a bătut şi i -a omorît.

¹⁸Joshua made war a long time with all those kings.

¹⁸Războiul, pe care l -a purtat Iosua împotriva tuturor acestor împăraţi, a ţinut multă vreme.

¹⁹There was not a city that made peace with the children of Israel, save the Hivites the inhabitants of Gibeon: all other they took in battle.

¹⁹N'a rămas nicio cetate, care să fi făcut pace cu copiii lui Israel, afară de Heviţi, cari locuiau în Gabaon; pe toate le-au luat prin luptă.

²⁰For it was of the LORD to harden their hearts, that they should come against Israel in battle, that he might destroy them utterly, and that they might have no favor, but that he might destroy them, as the LORD commanded Moses.

²⁰Căci Domnul a îngăduit ca popoarele acelea să-şi împetrească inima şi să lupte împotriva lui Israel, pentru ca Israel să le nimicească cu desăvîrşire, fără să aibă milă de ele, şi să le nimicească, după cum poruncise lui Moise Domnul.

²¹And at that time came Joshua, and cut off the Anakims from the mountains, from Hebron, from Debir, from Anab, and from all the mountains of Judah, and from all the mountains of Israel: Joshua destroyed them utterly with their cities.

²¹În acelaş timp, Iosua a pornit, şi a nimicit pe Anachimi, din muntele Hebronului, din Debir, din Anab, din tot muntele lui Iuda şi din tot muntele lui Israel; Iosua i -a nimicit cu desăvîrşire, împreună cu cetăţile lor.

²²There was none of the Anakims left in the land of the children of Israel: only in Gaza, in Gath, and in Ashdod, there remained.

²²N'au rămas deloc Anachimi în ţara copiilor lui Israel; n'au rămas decît la Gaza, la Gat şi la Asdod.

²³So Joshua took the whole land, according to all that the LORD said unto Moses; and Joshua gave it for an inheritance unto Israel according to their divisions by their tribes. And the land rested from war.

²³Iosua a pus stăpînire deci pe toată ţara, potrivit cu tot ce spusese lui Moise Domnul. Şi Iosua a dat -o de moştenire lui Israel, fiecăruia i -a dat partea lui, după seminţiile lor. Apoi ţara s'a odihnit de război.
