¹Have mercy upon me, O God, according to thy lovingkindness: according unto the multitude of thy tender mercies blot out my transgressions.

¹(Către mai marele cîntăreţilor. Un psalm al lui David. Făcut cînd a venit la el proorocul Natan, după ce intrase David la Bat-Şeba.) Ai milă de mine, Dumnezeule, în bunătatea Ta! După îndurarea Ta cea mare, şterge fărădelegile mele!

²Wash me throughly from mine iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin.

²Spală-mă cu desăvîrşire de nelegiuirea mea, şi curăţeşte-mă de păcatul meu!

³For I acknowledge my transgressions: and my sin is ever before me.

³Căci îmi cunosc bine fărădelegile, şi păcatul meu stă necurmat înaintea mea.

⁴Against thee, thee only, have I sinned, and done this evil in thy sight: that thou mightest be justified when thou speakest, and be clear when thou judgest.

⁴Împotriva Ta, numai împotriva Ta, am păcătuit şi am făcut ce este rău înaintea Ta; aşa că vei fi drept în hotărîrea Ta, şi fără vină în judecata Ta.

⁵Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me.

⁵Iată că sînt născut în nelegiuire, şi în păcat m'a zămislit mama mea.

⁶Behold, thou desirest truth in the inward parts: and in the hidden part thou shalt make me to know wisdom.

⁶Dar Tu ceri ca adevărul să fie în adîncul inimii: fă dar să pătrundă înţelepciunea înlăuntrul meu!

⁷Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean: wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.

⁷Curăţeşte-mă cu isop, şi voi fi curat; spală-mă, şi voi fi mai alb decît zăpada.

⁸Make me to hear joy and gladness; that the bones which thou hast broken may rejoice.

⁸Fă-mă să aud veselie şi bucurie, şi oasele, pe cari le-ai zdrobit Tu, se vor bucura.

⁹Hide thy face from my sins, and blot out all mine iniquities.

⁹Întoarce-Ţi privirea dela păcatele mele, şterge toate nelegiuirile mele!

¹⁰Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.

¹⁰Zideşte în mine o inimă curată, Dumnezeule, pune în mine un duh nou şi statornic!

¹¹Cast me not away from thy presence; and take not thy holy spirit from me.

¹¹Nu mă lepăda dela Faţa Ta, şi nu lua dela mine Duhul Tău cel Sfînt.

¹²Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit.

¹²Dă-mi iarăş bucuria mîntuirii Tale, şi sprijineşte-mă cu un duh de bunăvoinţă!

¹³Then will I teach transgressors thy ways; and sinners shall be converted unto thee.

¹³Atunci voi învăţa căile Tale pe ceice le calcă, şi păcătoşii se vor întoarce la Tine.

¹⁴Deliver me from bloodguiltiness, O God, thou God of my salvation: and my tongue shall sing aloud of thy righteousness.

¹⁴Dumnezeule, Dumnezeul mîntuirii mele! Izbăveşte-mă de vina sîngelui vărsat, şi limba mea va lăuda îndurarea Ta.

¹⁵O Lord, open thou my lips; and my mouth shall shew forth thy praise.

¹⁵Doamne, deschide-mi buzele, şi gura mea va vesti lauda Ta.

¹⁶For thou desirest not sacrifice; else would I give it: thou delightest not in burnt offering.

¹⁶Dacă ai fi voit jertfe, Ţi-aş fi adus: dar Ţie nu-Ţi plac arderile de tot.

¹⁷The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise.

¹⁷Jertfele plăcute lui Dumnezeu sînt un duh zdrobit: Dumnezeule, Tu nu dispreţuieşti o inimă zdrobită şi mîhnită.

¹⁸Do good in thy good pleasure unto Zion: build thou the walls of Jerusalem.

¹⁸În îndurarea Ta, varsă-Ţi binefacerile asupra Sionului, şi zideşte zidurile Ierusalimului!

¹⁹Then shalt thou be pleased with the sacrifices of righteousness, with burnt offering and whole burnt offering: then shall they offer bullocks upon thine altar.

¹⁹Atunci vei primi jertfe neprihănite, arderi de tot şi jertfe întregi; atunci se vor aduce pe altarul Tău viţei.
