¹But I determined this with myself, that I would not come again to you in heaviness.

¹Ale to som usúdil v sebe: neprijsť k vám zase so zármutkom.

²For if I make you sorry, who is he then that maketh me glad, but the same which is made sorry by me?

²Lebo ak ja vás zarmútim, ktože je potom, kto mňa rozveselí krome toho, koho som ja zarmútil?!

³And I wrote this same unto you, lest, when I came, I should have sorrow from them of whom I ought to rejoice; having confidence in you all, that my joy is the joy of you all.

³A toto isté som vám napísal, aby som, keď prijdem, nemal zármutku od tých, ktorým by som sa mal radovať, dôverujúc vo všetkých vás, že moja radosť je radosťou všetkých vás.

⁴For out of much affliction and anguish of heart I wrote unto you with many tears; not that ye should be grieved, but that ye might know the love which I have more abundantly unto you.

⁴Lebo z mnohého súženia a zovretia srdca som vám písal s mnohými slzami, nie aby ste sa zarmútili, ale aby ste poznali lásku, ktorej mám hojnejšie naproti vám.

⁵But if any have caused grief, he hath not grieved me, but in part: that I may not overcharge you all.

⁵A jestli niekto zarmútil, nie mňa zarmútil, ale z čiastky, aby som nepretiažil, zarmútil všetkých vás.

⁶Sufficient to such a man is this punishment, which was inflicted of many.

⁶Dosť je takému tohoto pokarhania, ktorého sa mu dostalo od mnohých,

⁷So that contrariwise ye ought rather to forgive him, and comfort him, lest perhaps such a one should be swallowed up with overmuch sorrow.

⁷takže už máte, naopak, radšej odpustiť a potešiť, aby zase prílišným zármutkom nebol taký človek pohltený.

⁸Wherefore I beseech you that ye would confirm your love toward him.

⁸Preto vás prosím, žeby ste mu preukázali lásku.

⁹For to this end also did I write, that I might know the proof of you, whether ye be obedient in all things.

⁹Lebo na to som aj písal, aby som poznal vašu dokázanosť, či ste poslušní ku všetkému.

¹⁰To whom ye forgive any thing, I forgive also: for if I forgave any thing, to whom I forgave it, for your sakes forgave I it in the person of Christ;

¹⁰A komu čo odpúšťate, i ja; lebo i ja, čo som odpustil, ak som čo odpustil, urobil som to pre vás, pred tvárou Krista, aby ste neboli oklamaní od satana,

¹¹Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

¹¹lebo nie sú nám neznáme jeho úmysly.

¹²Furthermore, when I came to Troas to preach Christ's gospel, and a door was opened unto me of the Lord,

¹²A keď som prišiel do Troady cieľom evanjelia Kristovho, hoci som mal otvorené dvere v Pánovi, nemal som oddychu vo svojom duchu, keď som nenašiel svojho brata Títa.

¹³I had no rest in my spirit, because I found not Titus my brother: but taking my leave of them, I went from thence into Macedonia.

¹³Ale rozlúčiac sa s nimi odišiel som do Macedonie.

¹⁴Now thanks be unto God, which always causeth us to triumph in Christ, and maketh manifest the savour of his knowledge by us in every place.

¹⁴No, vďaka Bohu, ktorý nám dáva vždycky víťazosláviť v Kristu a zjavuje skrze nás vôňu svojej známosti na každom mieste.

¹⁵For we are unto God a sweet savour of Christ, in them that are saved, and in them that perish:

¹⁵Lebo sme Kristovou dobrou vôňou Bohu medzi tými, ktorí dochádzajú spasenia, i medzi tými, ktorí hynú,

¹⁶To the one we are the savour of death unto death; and to the other the savour of life unto life. And who is sufficient for these things?

¹⁶ktorým vôňou smrti na smrť, a ktorým vôňou života na život. Ale na to kto je spôsobný?!

¹⁷For we are not as many, which corrupt the word of God: but as of sincerity, but as of God, in the sight of God speak we in Christ.

¹⁷Lebo nefalšujeme slova Božieho jako mnohí, ale jako takí, ktorí z mravnej čistoty, jako takí, ktorí z Boha pred Bohom v Kristu hovoríme.
