¹For I would that ye knew what great conflict I have for you, and for them at Laodicea, and for as many as have not seen my face in the flesh;

¹Lebo chcem, aby ste vedeli, jaký veľký boj mám za vás, a za takých, ktorí sú v Laodicei, a za všetkých, ktorí nevideli mojej tvári v tele,

²That their hearts might be comforted, being knit together in love, and unto all riches of the full assurance of understanding, to the acknowledgement of the mystery of God, and of the Father, and of Christ;

²aby boly potešené ich srdcia, spojených v jedno v láske, a to cieľom všetkého bohatstva plnosti rozumu, cieľom pravého poznania tajomstva Boha a Otca a Krista,

³In whom are hid all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.

³v ktorom sú skryté všetky poklady múdrosti a známosti.

⁴And this I say, lest any man should beguile you with enticing words.

⁴Ale to hovorím, aby vás nikto neoklamal falošnými dôvodmi, pravde podobnou rečou.

⁵For though I be absent in the flesh, yet am I with you in the spirit, joying and beholding your order, and the stedfastness of your faith in Christ.

⁵Lebo ak som aj telom neprítomný, ale som duchom s vami radujúc sa a vidiac váš poriadok a pevnosť vašej viery v Krista.

⁶As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him:

⁶A tak tedy, jako ste prijali Krista Ježiša Pána, tak v ňom choďte,

⁷Rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving.

⁷zakorenení a budovaní na ňom a upevňovaní vo viere, jako ste naučení, hojnejúc v nej ďakovaním.

⁸Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.

⁸Hľaďte, aby vás niekto nezajal v lúpež filozofiou a prázdnym zvodom učiac podľa podania ľudí, podľa živlov sveta a nie podľa Krista;

⁹For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily.

⁹lebo v ňom prebýva všetka plnosť božstva v telesne,

¹⁰And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power:

¹⁰a ste v ňom naplnení, ktorý je hlavou každého kniežatstva a každej vrchnosti,

¹¹In whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ:

¹¹v ktorom ste aj obrezaní obriezkou, nie učinenou rukou, vo svlečení tele hriechov ľudského tela, v obriezke Kristovej,

¹²Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead.

¹²súc s ním spolu pohrobení v krste, v ktorom, totiž v Kristovi, ste aj spolu vstali z mŕtvych skrze vieru pôsobenia Boha, ktorý ho vzkriesil z mŕtvych.

¹³And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses;

¹³I vás, ktorí ste boli mŕtvi v hriechoch a v neobrezanosti svojho tela, spolu oživil s ním darujúc vám z milosti všetky hriechy,

¹⁴Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;

¹⁴vymažúc písmo, napísané proti nám, záležajúce v rôznych nariadeniach, ktoré bolo proti nám, a vzal ho z prostredku pribijúc ho na kríž

¹⁵And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it.

¹⁵a odzbrojac kniežatstvá a vrchnosti vystavil ich verejne na odiv víťazosláviac nad nimi v ňom.

¹⁶Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days:

¹⁶Tedy nech vás nikto nesúdi pre pokrm alebo nápoj alebo pre nejaký sviatok alebo novmesiac alebo pre soboty,

¹⁷Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ.

¹⁷čo všetko je tôňou budúcich vecí, ale telo je Kristovo.

¹⁸Let no man beguile you of your reward in a voluntary humility and worshipping of angels, intruding into those things which he hath not seen, vainly puffed up by his fleshly mind,

¹⁸Nech vás nikto nepripraví o víťazné chcúc to docieliť samozvolenou pokorou a náboženstvom anjelov dávajúc sa do toho, čoho nevidel, súc darmo nadúvaný mysľou svojho tela

¹⁹And not holding the Head, from which all the body by joints and bands having nourishment ministered, and knit together, increaseth with the increase of God.

¹⁹a nedržiac sa hlavy, odkiaľ celé telo skrze poje a sväzky zaopatrované výživou a spolu viazané, rastie vzrastom Božím.

²⁰Wherefore if ye be dead with Christ from the rudiments of the world, why, as though living in the world, are ye subject to ordinances,

²⁰A tak jestli ste s Kristom odumreli živlom sveta, prečo si potom ešte, jako keby ste žili v svete, dáte predpisovať zákony

²¹(Touch not; taste not; handle not;

²¹(Vraj nechyť sa ani neokús ani sa nedotkni!

²²Which all are to perish with the using;) after the commandments and doctrines of men?

²²Čo všetko je spotrebou na zkazu) podľa príkazov a učení ľudí.

²³Which things have indeed a shew of wisdom in will worship, and humility, and neglecting of the body: not in any honour to the satisfying of the flesh.

²³Čo má smysel v múdrosti v samozvolenom náboženstve a v takej pokore jako aj v nešetrení tela, kým to nemá nijakej ceny a je iba na zasýtenie tela.
