¹Run ye to and fro through the streets of Jerusalem, and see now, and know, and seek in the broad places thereof, if ye can find a man, if there be any that executeth judgment, that seeketh the truth; and I will pardon it.

¹Zbehajte ulice Jeruzalema a nože vidzte a zveďte a hľadajte po jeho námestiach, či najdete muža, či je voľakto taký, kto by činil súd, kto by hľadal pravdu, a odpustím mu, Jeruzalemu.

²And though they say, The LORD liveth; surely they swear falsely.

²A keď aj hovoria: Ako že žije Hospodin, i tak prisahajú falošne.

³O LORD, are not thine eyes upon the truth? thou hast stricken them, but they have not grieved; thou hast consumed them, but they have refused to receive correction: they have made their faces harder than a rock; they have refused to return.

³Ó, Hospodine, či nehľadia tvoje oči na pravdu? Biješ ich, ale neželia; ničíš ich, nechcú prijať kázeň. Zatvrdili svoju tvár, takže je tvrdšia ako skala, nechcú sa navrátiť.

⁴Therefore I said, Surely these are poor; they are foolish: for they know not the way of the LORD, nor the judgment of their God.

⁴A ja som bol povedal: Sú to len prostí ľudia chudobní, dopúšťajú sa bláznovstva, lebo neznajú cesty Hospodinovej, súdu svojho Boha.

⁵I will get me unto the great men, and will speak unto them; for they have known the way of the LORD, and the judgment of their God: but these have altogether broken the yoke, and burst the bonds.

⁵Pojdem ja k veľkým a bude hovoriť s tými, lebo tí znajú cestu Hospodinovu, súd svojho Boha. Ale oni všetci dovedna polámali jarmo, potrhali povrazy.

⁶Wherefore a lion out of the forest shall slay them, and a wolf of the evenings shall spoil them, a leopard shall watch over their cities: every one that goeth out thence shall be torn in pieces: because their transgressions are many, and their backslidings are increased.

⁶Preto ich pobije lev z lesa, vlk zo stepí ich pohubí, pardus bude čihať na ich mestá; každý, kto vyjde odtiaľ, bude roztrhaný, lebo premnohé sú ich prestúpenia, mocné sú ich odvrátenia.

⁷How shall I pardon thee for this? thy children have forsaken me, and sworn by them that are no gods: when I had fed them to the full, they then committed adultery, and assembled themselves by troops in the harlots' houses.

⁷Kde je to, pre čo by som ti odpustil? Tvoji synovia ma opustili a prisahajú na to, čo nie je Bohom. Keď som ich nasýtil, cudzoložia, a valia sa zástupom do domu smilnice.

⁸They were as fed horses in the morning: every one neighed after his neighbour's wife.

⁸Sú jako dobre chované kone skoro za rána; každý rehoce na ženu svojho blížneho.

⁹Shall I not visit for these things? saith the LORD: and shall not my soul be avenged on such a nation as this?

⁹Či azda pre také veci nemám navštíviť? hovorí Hospodin. Alebo či na takom národe, jako je tento, nemá sa pomstiť moja duša?

¹⁰Go ye up upon her walls, and destroy; but make not a full end: take away her battlements; for they are not the LORD's.

¹⁰Vyjdite hore na jeho múry a kazte, ale neučiňte úplného konca! Odstráňte jeho výhonky, lebo nie sú Hospodinove,

¹¹For the house of Israel and the house of Judah have dealt very treacherously against me, saith the LORD.

¹¹pretože sa dopúšťajú veľkej nevernosti proti mne dom Izraelov i dom Júdov, hovorí Hospodin;

¹²They have belied the LORD, and said, It is not he; neither shall evil come upon us; neither shall we see sword nor famine:

¹²zapierajú Hospodina a hovoria: Nie On! A: Neprijde na nás zlé. Alebo: Neuvidíme meča ani nepocítime hladu.

¹³And the prophets shall become wind, and the word is not in them: thus shall it be done unto them.

¹³Ale tí proroci budú vetrom, a toho, kto hovorí, Duch Boží, neni v nich. Tak sa im učiní.

¹⁴Wherefore thus saith the LORD God of hosts, Because ye speak this word, behold, I will make my words in thy mouth fire, and this people wood, and it shall devour them.

¹⁴Preto takto hovorí Hospodin, Bôh Zástupov: pretože hovoríte to slovo, hľa, dávam svoje slová v tvojich ústach za oheň, a tento ľud nech je drevom, a strávi ich.

¹⁵Lo, I will bring a nation upon you from far, O house of Israel, saith the LORD: it is a mighty nation, it is an ancient nation, a nation whose language thou knowest not, neither understandest what they say.

¹⁵Hľa, dovediem na vás národ z ďaleka, dome Izraelov, hovorí Hospodin. Je to mocný národ, je to národ od veku, národ, ktorého jazyka neznáš ani nebudeš rozumieť, čo hovorí.

¹⁶Their quiver is as an open sepulchre, they are all mighty men.

¹⁶Jeho túl je ako otvorený hrob. Všetci sú hrdinovia.

¹⁷And they shall eat up thine harvest, and thy bread, which thy sons and thy daughters should eat: they shall eat up thy flocks and thine herds: they shall eat up thy vines and thy fig trees: they shall impoverish thy fenced cities, wherein thou trustedst, with the sword.

¹⁷A pojie tvoju žeň a tvoj chlieb, čo by mali pojesť tvoji synovia a tvoje dcéry; pojie tvoje drobné stádo i tvoj hovädzí dobytok, pojie tvoj vinič i tvoj fík, spustoší tvoje ohradené mestá, na ktoré sa ty spoliehaš, mečom.

¹⁸Nevertheless in those days, saith the LORD, I will not make a full end with you.

¹⁸Ale ani v tých dňoch, hovorí Hospodin, neučiním s vami konca.

¹⁹And it shall come to pass, when ye shall say, Wherefore doeth the LORD our God all these things unto us? then shalt thou answer them, Like as ye have forsaken me, and served strange gods in your land, so shall ye serve strangers in a land that is not your's.

¹⁹A bude, keď poviete: Za čo nám učiní Hospodin, náš Bôh, všetko toto? že im povieš: Jako ste mňa opustili a slúžili ste cudzím bohom vo svojej zemi, tak budete slúžiť cudzincom v zemi, ktorá nie je vaša.

²⁰Declare this in the house of Jacob, and publish it in Judah, saying,

²⁰Oznámte to v dome Jakobovom a rozhláste to v Judsku a povedzte:

²¹Hear now this, O foolish people, and without understanding; which have eyes, and see not; which have ears, and hear not:

²¹Nože počujte toto, bláznivý ľude, ktorý nemá srdca, aby rozumel! Majú oči, ale nevidia; majú uši, ale nečujú.

²²Fear ye not me? saith the LORD: will ye not tremble at my presence, which have placed the sand for the bound of the sea by a perpetual decree, that it cannot pass it: and though the waves thereof toss themselves, yet can they not prevail; though they roar, yet can they not pass over it?

²²Či azda mňa sa nebudete báť? hovorí Hospodin. Či pred mojou tvárou sa nebudete triasť? Ktorý som položil moru piesok za hranicu večným ustanovením, a neprekročí ho! Síce sa dmú, ale nezvládzu a hučia jeho vlny, ale ho neprekročia.

²³But this people hath a revolting and a rebellious heart; they are revolted and gone.

²³Ale tento ľud má odpadlícke srdce spurné, odstúpili a odišli.

²⁴Neither say they in their heart, Let us now fear the LORD our God, that giveth rain, both the former and the latter, in his season: he reserveth unto us the appointed weeks of the harvest.

²⁴A nepovedali vo svojom srdci: Nože sa bojme Hospodina, svojho Boha, ktorý dáva dážď, podzimný i jarný, vo svojom čase, zachováva nám ustanovené týždne žatvy.

²⁵Your iniquities have turned away these things, and your sins have withholden good things from you.

²⁵Vaše neprávosti to odvrátily, a vaše hriechy zadržujú to dobré od vás.

²⁶For among my people are found wicked men: they lay wait, as he that setteth snares; they set a trap, they catch men.

²⁶Lebo sa nachádzajú v mojom ľude bezbožníci. Každý striehne, jako keď sa učupujú vtáčnici, nadstavujú osídla, lapajú ľudí.

²⁷As a cage is full of birds, so are their houses full of deceit: therefore they are become great, and waxen rich.

²⁷Jako klietka, plná vtákov, tak sú ich domy plné ľsti; preto vzrástli a zbohatli.

²⁸They are waxen fat, they shine: yea, they overpass the deeds of the wicked: they judge not the cause, the cause of the fatherless, yet they prosper; and the right of the needy do they not judge.

²⁸Stučneli, lesknú sa; zašli až priďaleko v nešľachetnosti. Pravoty neriešia, pravoty siroty, a dobre sa im vodí, ani nesúdia súdu chudobných.

²⁹Shall I not visit for these things? saith the LORD: shall not my soul be avenged on such a nation as this?

²⁹Či azda preto nemám navštíviť? hovorí Hospodin. Či na takom národe, jako je tento, nemá sa pomstiť moja duša?

³⁰A wonderful and horrible thing is committed in the land;

³⁰Strašná vec a ohavná sa deje v zemi.

³¹The prophets prophesy falsely, and the priests bear rule by their means; and my people love to have it so: and what will ye do in the end thereof?

³¹Proroci prorokujú falošne, a kňazi panujú pomocou nich. A môj ľud to tak miluje! Ale čo urobíte na koniec toho?!-
