¹O ye children of Benjamin, gather yourselves to flee out of the midst of Jerusalem, and blow the trumpet in Tekoa, and set up a sign of fire in Bethhaccerem: for evil appeareth out of the north, and great destruction.

¹Ratujte a utekajte, synovia Benjaminovi, zprostred Jeruzalema! V Tekoe trúbte na trúbu a proti Bétkéremu vypustite znamenie dymu! Lebo zlé vyzerá od severa a veľké skrúšenie.

²I have likened the daughter of Zion to a comely and delicate woman.

²Zahľadím krásnu a rozkošnú rozmaznanú dcéru Siona.

³The shepherds with their flocks shall come unto her; they shall pitch their tents against her round about; they shall feed every one in his place.

³Prijdú k nej pastieri i so svojimi stádami; postavia proti nej stány dookola, každý z nich spasie svoju stranu.

⁴Prepare ye war against her; arise, and let us go up at noon. Woe unto us! for the day goeth away, for the shadows of the evening are stretched out.

⁴Posväťte vojnu proti nej! Vstaňte a poďme hore na poludnie! Beda nám, lebo uchodí deň, lebo sa už tiahnu tiene večera!

⁵Arise, and let us go by night, and let us destroy her palaces.

⁵Vstaňte, a poďme hore vnoci a zkazme jej paláce!

⁶For thus hath the LORD of hosts said, Hew ye down trees, and cast a mount against Jerusalem: this is the city to be visited; she is wholly oppression in the midst of her.

⁶Lebo takto hovorí Hospodin Zástupov: Zotínajte stromy a nasypte násyp proti Jeruzalemu! To je to mesto, ktoré má byť navštívené. Koľko ho len je, všade samý útisk v ňom.

⁷As a fountain casteth out her waters, so she casteth out her wickedness: violence and spoil is heard in her; before me continually is grief and wounds.

⁷Ako studňa prýšti svoju vodu, tak ono prýšti svoju zlosť. Ukrutnosť a zkazu počuť v ňom, pred mojou tvárou neprestajne nemoc a rana úderu.

⁸Be thou instructed, O Jerusalem, lest my soul depart from thee; lest I make thee desolate, a land not inhabited.

⁸Dajže sa karhať, Jeruzaleme, aby sa neodlúčila moja duša od teba, aby som ťa neobrátil na pustinu, na neobývanú zem.

⁹Thus saith the LORD of hosts, They shall throughly glean the remnant of Israel as a vine: turn back thine hand as a grapegatherer into the baskets.

⁹Takto hovorí Hospodin Zástupov: Paberkovať a dôkladne budú paberkovať ostatok Izraela jako vinič. Vráť svoju ruku jako oberač na révy!

¹⁰To whom shall I speak, and give warning, that they may hear? behold, their ear is uncircumcised, and they cannot hearken: behold, the word of the LORD is unto them a reproach; they have no delight in it.

¹⁰Komu mám hovoriť a komu osvedčovať, aby počuli? Hľa, ich ucho je neobrezané, a tak nemôžu pozorovať ušami. Hľa, slovo Hospodinovo im je na potupu; nemajú v ňom záľuby.

¹¹Therefore I am full of the fury of the LORD; I am weary with holding in: I will pour it out upon the children abroad, and upon the assembly of young men together: for even the husband with the wife shall be taken, the aged with him that is full of days.

¹¹A preto som plný prchlivosti Hospodinovej, ustal som držať ju v sebe. Vylej na decko vonku a na schôdzu mládencov spolu. Lebo i muž so ženou budú jatí, starec s kmeťom, ktorý je plný dňov.

¹²And their houses shall be turned unto others, with their fields and wives together: for I will stretch out my hand upon the inhabitants of the land, saith the LORD.

¹²A ich domy sa dostanú iným, polia i ženy spolu, pretože vystriem svoju ruku na obyvateľov tejto zeme, hovorí Hospodin.

¹³For from the least of them even unto the greatest of them every one is given to covetousness; and from the prophet even unto the priest every one dealeth falsely.

¹³Lebo každý, od najmenšieho až do najväčšieho z nich, všetci, koľko ich je, sa oddali lakomstvu, a to od proroka až po kňaza, každý z nich robí falošne.

¹⁴They have healed also the hurt of the daughter of my people slightly, saying, Peace, peace; when there is no peace.

¹⁴A liečia skrúšenie môjho ľudu na ľahko hovoriac: Pokoj, pokoj, kým nieto pokoja.

¹⁵Were they ashamed when they had committed abomination? nay, they were not at all ashamed, neither could they blush: therefore they shall fall among them that fall: at the time that I visit them they shall be cast down, saith the LORD.

¹⁵A či sa azda hanbia, že spáchali ohavnosť? Ani hanbiť sa nehanbia ani neznajú studu. Preto aj padnú medzi padajúcimi v čase, v ktorom ich navštívim, klesnú, hovorí Hospodin.

¹⁶Thus saith the LORD, Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls. But they said, We will not walk therein.

¹⁶Takto hovorí Hospodin: Postojte na cestách a vidzte a pýtajte sa po chodníkoch veku, ktorá je tá dobrá cesta, a iďte po nej a tak najdite pokoj svojej duši! Ale oni povedali: Nepojdeme!

¹⁷Also I set watchmen over you, saying, Hearken to the sound of the trumpet. But they said, We will not hearken.

¹⁷A postavil som nad vami pozorujúcich strážnych povediac: Pozorujte na zvuk trúby, a oni riekli: Nebudeme pozorovať!

¹⁸Therefore hear, ye nations, and know, O congregation, what is among them.

¹⁸Preto počujte, národy, a poznaj, shromaždenie, čo sa chystá proti nim!

¹⁹Hear, O earth: behold, I will bring evil upon this people, even the fruit of their thoughts, because they have not hearkened unto my words, nor to my law, but rejected it.

¹⁹Počuj, ó, zem: Hľa, ja uvediem zlé na tento ľud, ovocie ich myšlienok; pretože nepozorovali na moje slová svojimi ušami a čo do môjho zákona, ten zavrhli.

²⁰To what purpose cometh there to me incense from Sheba, and the sweet cane from a far country? your burnt offerings are not acceptable, nor your sacrifices sweet unto me.

²⁰Načože mi je toď kadivo, ktoré prichádza zo Šeby alebo výborná trstina voňavá z ďalekej zeme? Vaše zápalné obeti nie sú na záľubu, a vaše bitné obeti nie sú mi príjemné.

²¹Therefore thus saith the LORD, Behold, I will lay stumblingblocks before this people, and the fathers and the sons together shall fall upon them; the neighbour and his friend shall perish.

²¹Preto takto hovorí Hospodin: Hľa, dám pred tento ľud závady, o ktoré zavadia a klesnú, otcovia i synovia spolu, súsed i jeho blížny, a zahynú.

²²Thus saith the LORD, Behold, a people cometh from the north country, and a great nation shall be raised from the sides of the earth.

²²Takto hovorí Hospodin: Hľa, ľud prijde zo zeme severa, a veľký národ zobudiac sa povstane od najďaľších končín zeme.

²³They shall lay hold on bow and spear; they are cruel, and have no mercy; their voice roareth like the sea; and they ride upon horses, set in array as men for war against thee, O daughter of Zion.

²³Pochytí lučište a piku; ukrutný bude. A nezľutujú sa; ich hlas bude hučať ako more, a budú jazdiť na koňoch. Pripravený jako muž do boja, na teba, dcéro Siona!

²⁴We have heard the fame thereof: our hands wax feeble: anguish hath taken hold of us, and pain, as of a woman in travail.

²⁴Keď počujeme zvesť o ňom, klesnú naše ruky bezvládne, úzkosť nás pochytí, bolesť ako ženu, ktorá ide porodiť.

²⁵Go not forth into the field, nor walk by the way; for the sword of the enemy and fear is on every side.

²⁵Oj, nevyjdi na pole a nechoď na cestu, lebo tam meč nepriateľa, strach všade naokolo!

²⁶O daughter of my people, gird thee with sackcloth, and wallow thyself in ashes: make thee mourning, as for an only son, most bitter lamentation: for the spoiler shall suddenly come upon us.

²⁶Dcéro môjho ľudu, prepáš si smútočné vrece a váľaj sa v popole! Sprav si smútok ako nad jednorodeným, nárek, prehorký! Lebo prijde náhle na nás zhubca.

²⁷I have set thee for a tower and a fortress among my people, that thou mayest know and try their way.

²⁷Dal so ťa za zkúšajúceho kovy vo svojom ľude, za hradbu, aby si poznal a zkúsil ich cestu.

²⁸They are all grievous revolters, walking with slanders: they are brass and iron; they are all corrupters.

²⁸Všetci, koľko ich je, sú odpadlíci odpadlíkov, sem a ta chodiaci pomluvači, sú jako meď a železo; všetci, koľko ich je, sú zhubcami.

²⁹The bellows are burned, the lead is consumed of the fire; the founder melteth in vain: for the wicked are not plucked away.
