¹My son, if thou wilt receive my words, and hide my commandments with thee;

²So that thou incline thine ear unto wisdom, and apply thine heart to understanding;

²tak, aby tvoje ucho pozorovalo na múdrosť, a jestli nakloníš svoje srdce umnosti;

³Yea, if thou criest after knowledge, and liftest up thy voice for understanding;

³áno, ak zavoláš na rozumnosť a pozdvihneš svoj hlas k umnosti;

⁴If thou seekest her as silver, and searchest for her as for hid treasures;

⁴ak ju budeš hľadať ako striebro a budeš ju vyhľadávať ako skryté poklady,

⁵Then shalt thou understand the fear of the LORD, and find the knowledge of God.

⁵vtedy porozumieš bázni Hospodinovej a najdeš známosť Božiu.

⁶For the LORD giveth wisdom: out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding.

⁶Lebo Hospodin dáva múdrosť; z jeho úst pochádza známosť a umnosť.

⁷He layeth up sound wisdom for the righteous: he is a buckler to them that walk uprightly.

⁷Prechováva úprimným prospech; je štítom tým, ktorí chodia v bezúhonnosti,

⁸He keepeth the paths of judgment, and preserveth the way of his saints.

⁸strežúc stezky súdu a ostríha cestu svojich svätých.

⁹Then shalt thou understand righteousness, and judgment, and equity; yea, every good path.

⁹Vtedy porozumieš spravedlivosti a súdu a úprimnosti, každej koľaji dobrého.

¹⁰When wisdom entereth into thine heart, and knowledge is pleasant unto thy soul;

¹⁰Lebo múdrosť vojde do tvojho srdca, a známosť bude milou tvojej duši.

¹¹Discretion shall preserve thee, understanding shall keep thee:

¹¹Prozreteľnosť bude strážiť nad tebou; umnosť bude mať na teba obrátený pozor

¹²To deliver thee from the way of the evil man, from the man that speaketh froward things;

¹²vytrhujúc ťa od zlej cesty, od človeka, ktorý hovorí prevrátené veci,

¹³Who leave the paths of uprightness, to walk in the ways of darkness;

¹³od tých, ktorí opúšťajú priame stezky, aby chodili po cestách tmy,

¹⁴Who rejoice to do evil, and delight in the frowardness of the wicked;

¹⁴ktorí sa radujú, keď môžu urobiť zlé; plesajú v najhorších prevrátenostiach;

¹⁵Whose ways are crooked, and they froward in their paths:

¹⁵ktorých stezky sú krivolaké, a sami sú prevrátení na svojich cestách;

¹⁶To deliver thee from the strange woman, even from the stranger which flattereth with her words;

¹⁶vytrhujúc ťa od cudzej ženy, od cudzozemky, ktorá lichotí svojimi hladkými rečami,

¹⁷Which forsaketh the guide of her youth, and forgetteth the covenant of her God.

¹⁷ktorá opúšťa druha svojej mladosti a zabúda na smluvu svojho Boha

¹⁸For her house inclineth unto death, and her paths unto the dead.

¹⁸(Lebo zapáda do smrti i so svojím domom, a jej cesty vedú k mŕtvym;

¹⁹None that go unto her return again, neither take they hold of the paths of life.

¹⁹niktorí z tých, ktorí vojdú k nej, sa nenavrátia a nedostihnú steziek života),

²⁰That thou mayest walk in the way of good men, and keep the paths of the righteous.

²⁰aby si chodil cestou dobrých a aby si ostríhal stezky spravedlivých.

²¹For the upright shall dwell in the land, and the perfect shall remain in it.

²¹Lebo úprimní budú bývať v zemi, a bezúhonní zbudnú v nej.

²²But the wicked shall be cut off from the earth, and the transgressors shall be rooted out of it.

²²Ale bezbožníci budú vyťatí zo zeme, a vierolomných z nej vytrhnú.
