¹The proverbs of Solomon the son of David, king of Israel;

¹Príslovia Šalamúna, syna Dávidovho, izraelského kráľa,

²To know wisdom and instruction; to perceive the words of understanding;

²poznať múdrosť a kázeň, porozumieť slovám rozumnosti,

³To receive the instruction of wisdom, justice, and judgment, and equity;

³dosiahnuť kázne rozumu, spravedlivosti, súdu a priamosti,

⁴To give subtilty to the simple, to the young man knowledge and discretion.

⁴dať prostým opatrnosť, mládencovi známosť a dômyselnosť.

⁵A wise man will hear, and will increase learning; and a man of understanding shall attain unto wise counsels:

⁵Nech čuje múdry a priberie naučenia, a rozumný tak nadobudne schopnosti spravovať.

⁶To understand a proverb, and the interpretation; the words of the wise, and their dark sayings.

⁶Sú to veci na porozumenie prísloviu a podobenstvu, slovám múdrych a ich záhadným rečiam hlbokým.

⁷The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction.

⁷Bázeň Hospodinova je počiatkom známosti; múdrosťou a kázňou pohŕdajú blázni.

⁸My son, hear the instruction of thy father, and forsake not the law of thy mother:

⁸Poslúchaj, môj synu, kázeň svojho otca a neopusti naučenia svojej matky.

⁹For they shall be an ornament of grace unto thy head, and chains about thy neck.

⁹Lebo to bude ľúbezným vencom tvojej hlave a ozdobnou reťazou tvojmu hrdlu.

¹⁰My son, if sinners entice thee, consent thou not.

¹⁰Môj synu, keby ťa nahovárali hriešnici, neprivoľ!

¹¹If they say, Come with us, let us lay wait for blood, let us lurk privily for the innocent without cause:

¹¹Keby ti riekli: Nože poď s nami; nastrojíme krvi úklady; skryjeme sa proti nevinnému bez príčiny;

¹²Let us swallow them up alive as the grave; and whole, as those that go down into the pit:

¹²pohltíme ich živých ako peklo a bezúhonných ako tých, ktorí sostupujú do jamy;

¹³We shall find all precious substance, we shall fill our houses with spoil:

¹³najdeme rôzny majetok drahocenný; naplníme svoje domy korisťou.

¹⁴Cast in thy lot among us; let us all have one purse:

¹⁴Vrhni svoj los medzi nami; všetci budeme mať jeden mešec.

¹⁵My son, walk not thou in the way with them; refrain thy foot from their path:

¹⁵Môj synu, nechoď na cestu s nimi; zdrž svoju nohu od ich chodníka!

¹⁶For their feet run to evil, and make haste to shed blood.

¹⁶Pretože ich nohy bežia ku zlému, a ponáhľajú sa vyliať krv.

¹⁷Surely in vain the net is spread in the sight of any bird.

¹⁷Lebo veď nadarmo sa rozprestiera sieť pred očami ktoréhokoľvek okrýdlenca.

¹⁸And they lay wait for their own blood; they lurk privily for their own lives.

¹⁸Ale oni úkladia svojej vlastnej krvi; skrývajú sa proti svojim dušiam.

¹⁹So are the ways of every one that is greedy of gain; which taketh away the life of the owners thereof.

¹⁹Také sú cesty každého, kto dychtí po zisku; zisk odníma dušu svojho pána.

²⁰Wisdom crieth without; she uttereth her voice in the streets:

²⁰Múdrosť volá hlasne vonku; vydáva svoj hlas na uliciach.

²¹She crieth in the chief place of concourse, in the openings of the gates: in the city she uttereth her words, saying,

²¹Volá na hlavných miestach najrušnejších, pri vchodoch do brán, v meste hovorí svoje reči:

²²How long, ye simple ones, will ye love simplicity? and the scorners delight in their scorning, and fools hate knowledge?

²²Až dokedy, hlúpi, budete milovať hlúposť, a posmievači dokedy budú obľubovať posmech a blázni nenávidieť známosť?

²³Turn you at my reproof: behold, I will pour out my spirit unto you, I will make known my words unto you.

²³Obráťte sa k môjmu karhaniu! Hľa, vydám vám zo seba svojho ducha a oznámim vám svoje slová!

²⁴Because I have called, and ye refused; I have stretched out my hand, and no man regarded;

²⁴No, preto, že som volala, a odopierali ste; vystierala som svoju ruku, a nebolo nikoho, kto by bol pozoroval ušima;

²⁵But ye have set at nought all my counsel, and would none of my reproof:

²⁵ale ste pustili naprázdno každú moju radu a môjho karhania ste nechceli,

²⁶I also will laugh at your calamity; I will mock when your fear cometh;

²⁶preto sa i ja budem smiať vo vašom nešťastí; budem sa posmievať, keď prijde to, čoho sa strachujete;

²⁷When your fear cometh as desolation, and your destruction cometh as a whirlwind; when distress and anguish cometh upon you.

²⁷keď prijde to, čoho sa strachujete, jako búrka, a vaše nešťastie sa dovalí jako víchrica, keď prijde na vás súženie a úzkosť.

²⁸Then shall they call upon me, but I will not answer; they shall seek me early, but they shall not find me:

²⁸Vtedy budú volať na mňa, ale sa neohlásim; budú ma pilne hľadať, skoro za rána, ale ma nenajdú,

²⁹For that they hated knowledge, and did not choose the fear of the LORD:

²⁹zato, že nenávideli známosti a nevyvolili si bázne Hospodinovej;

³⁰They would none of my counsel: they despised all my reproof.

³⁰nechceli mojej rady, ale pohŕdali každým mojím káraním,

³¹Therefore shall they eat of the fruit of their own way, and be filled with their own devices.

³¹a tak budú jesť z ovocia svojej cesty a nasýtia sa svojich rád.

³²For the turning away of the simple shall slay them, and the prosperity of fools shall destroy them.

³²Lebo odvrátenie hlupcov ich samých zabije, a vlastná hriešna ubezpečenosť bláznov, tá ich zahubí.

³³But whoso hearkeneth unto me shall dwell safely, and shall be quiet from fear of evil.

³³Ale ten, kto mňa poslúcha, bude bývať bezpečne a bude mať pokoj od strachu zo zlého.
