¹My son, attend unto my wisdom, and bow thine ear to my understanding:

²That thou mayest regard discretion, and that thy lips may keep knowledge.

²aby si ostríhal obozretnosť, a tvoje rty aby pozorovaly na známosť.

³For the lips of a strange woman drop as an honeycomb, and her mouth is smoother than oil:

³Lebo rty cudzej ženy kvapkajú medom, a jej ústa sú hladšie ako olej.

⁴But her end is bitter as wormwood, sharp as a two-edged sword.

⁴Ale jej koniec je horký jako palina; je ostrý jako dvojsečný meč.

⁵Her feet go down to death; her steps take hold on hell.

⁵Jej nohy sostupujú do smrti; jej kroky sa držia pekla.

⁶Lest thou shouldest ponder the path of life, her ways are moveable, that thou canst not know them.

⁶Len aby nejako neuvážila cesty života, jej drahy sa túlajú; nevie, čo robí.

⁷Hear me now therefore, O ye children, and depart not from the words of my mouth.

⁷Preto teraz, synovia, poslúchajte ma a neuhnite od rečí mojich úst.

⁸Remove thy way far from her, and come not nigh the door of her house:

⁸Vzdiaľ svoju cestu od nej a nepribližuj sa ku dveriam jej domu,

⁹Lest thou give thine honour unto others, and thy years unto the cruel:

⁹aby si nedal iným svojej slávy a svojich rokov ukrutníkovi;

¹⁰Lest strangers be filled with thy wealth; and thy labours be in the house of a stranger;

¹⁰aby sa nenasýtili cudzí tvojej sily, a tvoje práce aby nezostaly v dome cudzinca.

¹¹And thou mourn at the last, when thy flesh and thy body are consumed,

¹¹A reval by si ku svojmu koncu, keď by si zničil svoje telo a svoje mäso

¹²And say, How have I hated instruction, and my heart despised reproof;

¹²a povedal by si: Ej, ako som nenávidel kázne, a moje srdce pohŕdalo káraním!

¹³And have not obeyed the voice of my teachers, nor inclined mine ear to them that instructed me!

¹³A nepočúval som na hlas svojich učiteľov a nenaklonil som svojho ucha k tým, ktorí ma učili.

¹⁴I was almost in all evil in the midst of the congregation and assembly.

¹⁴Málo chýbalo, a bol by som býval v každom zle, prostred shromaždenia a obce.

¹⁵Drink waters out of thine own cistern, and running waters out of thine own well.

¹⁵Pi vodu zo svojej cisterny a tečúce vody zo svojej vlastnej studne.

¹⁶Let thy fountains be dispersed abroad, and rivers of waters in the streets.

¹⁶Či sa budú rozlievať tvoje pramene ta von, po uliciach potoky vôd?

¹⁷Let them be only thine own, and not strangers' with thee.

¹⁷Nech sú pre teba pre samého a nie pre cudzích s tebou.

¹⁸Let thy fountain be blessed: and rejoice with the wife of thy youth.

¹⁸Nech je tvoj prameň požehnaný, a raduj sa zo ženy svojej mladosti.

¹⁹Let her be as the loving hind and pleasant roe; let her breasts satisfy thee at all times; and be thou ravished always with her love.

¹⁹Jako ľúbezná laň a utešená srna; nech ťa opájajú jej prsia každého času; v jej láske sa kochaj ustavične.

²⁰And why wilt thou, my son, be ravished with a strange woman, and embrace the bosom of a stranger?

²⁰A prečo by si sa kochal, môj synu, v cudzej a prečo by si objímal ňádra cudzozemky?

²¹For the ways of man are before the eyes of the LORD, and he pondereth all his goings.

²¹Lebo cesty človeka sú pred očima Hospodinovými, a on váži všetky jeho stezy.

²²His own iniquities shall take the wicked himself, and he shall be holden with the cords of his sins.

²²Jeho vlastné neprávosti zajmú bezbožného, a uviazne v povrazoch svojho hriechu.

²³He shall die without instruction; and in the greatness of his folly he shall go astray.

²³On zomrie preto, že niet u neho kázne, a bude blúdiť v množstve svojho bláznovstva.
