¹And the Spirit of God came upon Azariah the son of Oded:

¹In duh Božji pride nad Azarija, sina Odedovega;

²And he went out to meet Asa, and said unto him, Hear ye me, Asa, and all Judah and Benjamin; The LORD is with you, while ye be with him; and if ye seek him, he will be found of you; but if ye forsake him, he will forsake you.

²in pride naproti Asu ter mu reče: Poslušajte me, Asa in ves Juda in Benjamin! GOSPOD je z vami, dokler ste vi ž njim. In ko ga iščete, ga najdete; ako ga pa zapustite, zapusti on vas.

³Now for a long season Israel hath been without the true God, and without a teaching priest, and without law.

³Saj dosti dni je bil Izrael brez pravega Boga in brez duhovnika-učitelja in brez postave;

⁴But when they in their trouble did turn unto the LORD God of Israel, and sought him, he was found of them.

⁴ali ko so se v stiski svoji obrnili h GOSPODU, Bogu Izraelovemu, in ga iskali, so ga našli.

⁵And in those times there was no peace to him that went out, nor to him that came in, but great vexations were upon all the inhabitants of the countries.

⁵In v tistih časih ni bilo miru njemu, ki je odhajal, ne njemu, ki je prihajal, temuč velika nemirnost je vladala nad vsemi prebivalci dežel.

⁶And nation was destroyed of nation, and city of city: for God did vex them with all adversity.

⁶In narod se je ljuto bojeval z narodom in mesto z mestom, kajti Bog jih je vznemirjal z vsakovrstno bridkostjo.

⁷Be ye strong therefore, and let not your hands be weak: for your work shall be rewarded.

⁷A vi bodite močni, in naj vam ne omagajo roke! zakaj delo vaše prejme plačilo.

⁸And when Asa heard these words, and the prophecy of Oded the prophet, he took courage, and put away the abominable idols out of all the land of Judah and Benjamin, and out of the cities which he had taken from mount Ephraim, and renewed the altar of the LORD, that was before the porch of the LORD.

⁸In ko je slišal Asa te besede in prorokovanje sinu Odedovega, proroka, se ohrabri in odpravi gnusobe iz vse dežele Judove in Benjaminove in iz mest, ki jih je dobil na Efraimskem gorovju, ter obnovi oltar GOSPODOV, ki je stal pred vežo GOSPODOVO.

⁹And he gathered all Judah and Benjamin, and the strangers with them out of Ephraim and Manasseh, and out of Simeon: for they fell to him out of Israel in abundance, when they saw that the LORD his God was with him.

⁹In skliče ves rod Judov in Benjaminov in tiste, ki so tujčevali pri njih iz Efraima in Manaseja in iz Simeona, kajti veliko jih je iz Izraela bilo prestopilo k njemu, ko so videli, da je bil ž njim GOSPOD, njegov Bog.

¹⁰So they gathered themselves together at Jerusalem in the third month, in the fifteenth year of the reign of Asa.

¹⁰In zbero se v Jeruzalemu tretji mesec v petnajstem letu kraljevanja Asovega.

¹¹And they offered unto the LORD the same time, of the spoil which they had brought, seven hundred oxen and seven thousand sheep.

¹¹In darovali so GOSPODU tisti dan iz plena, ki so ga bili pripeljali, sedemsto volov in sedem tisoč ovac.

¹²And they entered into a covenant to seek the LORD God of their fathers with all their heart and with all their soul;

¹²In so stopili v zavezo, da bodo iskali GOSPODA, Boga očetov svojih, iz vsega srca in iz vse duše svoje,

¹³That whosoever would not seek the LORD God of Israel should be put to death, whether small or great, whether man or woman.

¹³ter da mora umreti, kdorkoli bi ne iskal GOSPODA, Boga Izraelovega, bodisi majhen ali velik, bodisi mož ali žena.

¹⁴And they sware unto the LORD with a loud voice, and with shouting, and with trumpets, and with cornets.

¹⁴In prisegli so GOSPODU z močnim glasom in z ukanjem ob donenju trobent in rogov.

¹⁵And all Judah rejoiced at the oath: for they had sworn with all their heart, and sought him with their whole desire; and he was found of them: and the LORD gave them rest round about.

¹⁵In ves Juda je bil vesel te prisege, zakaj prisegli so iz vsega srca svojega in iskali GOSPODA z vso voljo svojo, ter so ga našli; in GOSPOD jim je dal pokoj vseokoli.

¹⁶And also concerning Maachah the mother of Asa the king, he removed her from being queen, because she had made an idol in a grove: and Asa cut down her idol, and stamped it, and burnt it at the brook Kidron.

¹⁶In kralj Asa je tudi odstavil Maako, mater svojo, da ne bo v kraljičji časti, ker je bila naredila ostudno podobo Ašeri. In Asa je posekal njeno ostudno podobo in jo stolkel v prah ter sežgal pri potoku Kidronu.

¹⁷But the high places were not taken away out of Israel: nevertheless the heart of Asa was perfect all his days.

¹⁷Toda višave niso bile odpravljene iz Izraela, vendar pa je bilo srce Asovo nerazdeljeno vse njegove žive dni.

¹⁸And he brought into the house of God the things that his father had dedicated, and that he himself had dedicated, silver, and gold, and vessels.

¹⁸In ponesel je v hišo Božjo, kar je bil posvetil oče njegov in kar je bil sam posvetil, srebro, zlato in posode.In vojne ni bilo nobene do petintridesetega leta Asovega vladanja.

¹⁹And there was no more war unto the five and thirtieth year of the reign of Asa.
