¹And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.

²And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting.

²Kar nastane šum z neba kakor piš silnega vetra in napolni vso hišo, kjer so sedeli.

³And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them.

³In se jim prikažejo razdeljeni jeziki kakor ognjeni, in sedejo na slehernega med njimi;

⁴And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

⁴in vsi se napolnijo svetega Duha in začno govoriti v drugih jezikih, kakor jim je Duh dajal izgovarjati.

⁵And there were dwelling at Jerusalem Jews, devout men, out of every nation under heaven.

⁵Bivali so pa takrat v Jeruzalemu Judje, bogaboječi možje, iz vsakega naroda, ki je pod nebom.

⁶Now when this was noised abroad, the multitude came together, and were confounded, because that every man heard them speak in his own language.

⁶Ko je pa nastal ta šum, se snide množica, in groza jih obide: zakaj vsak izmed njih sliši, da govore v njegovem jeziku.

⁷And they were all amazed and marvelled, saying one to another, Behold, are not all these which speak Galilaeans?

⁷In vsi se zavzemajo in čudijo ter govore: Glej, niso li vsi ti, ki govore, Galilejci?

⁸And how hear we every man in our own tongue, wherein we were born?

⁸In kako mi slišimo vsak svoj jezik, ki smo se v njem rodili?

⁹Parthians, and Medes, and Elamites, and the dwellers in Mesopotamia, and in Judaea, and Cappadocia, in Pontus, and Asia,

⁹Parčani in Medi in Elamljani, in ki prebivamo v Mezopotamiji, Judeji in Kapadociji, Pontu in Aziji,

¹⁰Phrygia, and Pamphylia, in Egypt, and in the parts of Libya about Cyrene, and strangers of Rome, Jews and proselytes,

¹⁰Frigiji in Pamfiliji, v Egiptu in v krajih Libije pri Cireni, in prišleci iz Rima, Judje in pojudenci,

¹¹Cretes and Arabians, we do hear them speak in our tongues the wonderful works of God.

¹¹Krečani in Arabci: slišimo, da nam govore v naših jezikih velika dela Božja.

¹²And they were all amazed, and were in doubt, saying one to another, What meaneth this?

¹²In vsi se zavzemajo in strmé, drug drugemu govoreč: Kaj če to biti?

¹³Others mocking said, These men are full of new wine.

¹³A drugi se posmehujejo in govore: sladkega vinca so se napili.

¹⁴But Peter, standing up with the eleven, lifted up his voice, and said unto them, Ye men of Judaea, and all ye that dwell at Jerusalem, be this known unto you, and hearken to my words:

¹⁴Tedaj se ustopi Peter z enajsterimi in povzdigne glas svoj in jih ogovori: Možje Judje in vsi, ki prebivate v Jeruzalemu, to vam bodi na znanje in poslušajte besede moje!

¹⁵For these are not drunken, as ye suppose, seeing it is but the third hour of the day.

¹⁵Ti namreč niso pijani, kakor vi menite, ker je šele tretja ura dne;

¹⁶But this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel;

¹⁶temuč to je, kar je rečeno po proroku Joelu:

¹⁷And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams:

¹⁷„In zgodi se v poslednjih dneh, pravi Bog: izlijem od Duha svojega na vse človeštvo, in prorokovali bodo sinovi vaši in hčere vaše; in mladeniči vaši bodo videli prikazni, in starcem vašim se bodo sanjale sanje;

¹⁸And on my servants and on my handmaidens I will pour out in those days of my Spirit; and they shall prophesy:

¹⁸in tudi na hlapce svoje in na dekle svoje v tistih dneh izlijem od Duha svojega, in bodo prorokovali.

¹⁹And I will shew wonders in heaven above, and signs in the earth beneath; blood, and fire, and vapour of smoke:

¹⁹In pokažem čudeže gori na nebu in znamenja doli na zemlji, kri in ogenj in kajenje dima;

²⁰The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and notable day of the Lord come:

²⁰solnce se spremeni v temo in mesec v kri, preden pride dan Gospodov, veliki in preslavni.

²¹And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved.

²¹In zgodi se, da vsak, kdor bo klical ime Gospodovo, bo zveličan“.

²²Ye men of Israel, hear these words; Jesus of Nazareth, a man approved of God among you by miracles and wonders and signs, which God did by him in the midst of you, as ye yourselves also know:

²²Možje Izraelci, poslušajte te besede: Jezusa Nazarečana, moža, ki ga je Bog potrdil za vas z močmi in čudeži in znamenji, ki jih je Bog po njem storil med vami, kakor sami veste,

²³Him, being delivered by the determinate counsel and foreknowledge of God, ye have taken, and by wicked hands have crucified and slain:

²³tega, izdanega po trdno določenem sklepu in previdnosti Božji, ste vzeli in po rokah krivičnikov na križ razpeli in umorili.

²⁴Whom God hath raised up, having loosed the pains of death: because it was not possible that he should be holden of it.

²⁴Njega je Bog obudil, oprostivši ga bolečin smrti; ker tudi ni bilo mogoče, da bi ga bila ona držala.

²⁵For David speaketh concerning him, I foresaw the Lord always before my face, for he is on my right hand, that I should not be moved:

²⁵David namreč pravi glede njega: „Gledal sem Gospoda vedno pred seboj, ker je na desnici moji, da ne omahnem.

²⁶Therefore did my heart rejoice, and my tongue was glad; moreover also my flesh shall rest in hope:

²⁶Tega se je razveselilo srce moje in se je obradoval jezik moj, pa še tudi meso moje bo počivalo v upanju,

²⁷Because thou wilt not leave my soul in hell, neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption.

²⁷ker ne pustiš duše moje v državi smrti [Grški: v hadesu.] in tudi ne daš, da bi Svetnik tvoj videl trohnenje.

²⁸Thou hast made known to me the ways of life; thou shalt make me full of joy with thy countenance.

²⁸Naznanil si mi pota življenja, napolniš me z veseljem pred obličjem svojim“.

²⁹Men and brethren, let me freely speak unto you of the patriarch David, that he is both dead and buried, and his sepulchre is with us unto this day.

²⁹Možje in bratje, naj bo dovoljeno, govoriti vam svobodno o očaku Davidu: da je umrl in bil pokopan, in grob njegov je pri nas do tega dne.

³⁰Therefore being a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him, that of the fruit of his loins, according to the flesh, he would raise up Christ to sit on his throne;

³⁰Ker pa je bil prorok in je vedel, da se mu je s prisego zavezal Bog, da posadi enega iz plodu ledja njegovega na prestol njegov,

³¹He seeing this before spake of the resurrection of Christ, that his soul was not left in hell, neither his flesh did see corruption.

³¹je videl naprej in povedal o vstajenju Kristusovem, da se ni pustila duša njegova v državi smrti in tudi meso njegovo ni videlo trohnenja.

³²This Jesus hath God raised up, whereof we all are witnesses.

³²Tega Jezusa je Bog obudil, čemur smo mi vsi priče.

³³Therefore being by the right hand of God exalted, and having received of the Father the promise of the Holy Ghost, he hath shed forth this, which ye now see and hear.

³³Z desnico Božjo torej povišan in prejemši obljubo svetega Duha od Očeta, je izlil to, kar vi zdaj vidite in slišite.

³⁴For David is not ascended into the heavens: but he saith himself, The Lord said unto my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand,

³⁴Kajti David ni šel gori v nebesa, nego sam pravi: „Rekel je Gospod Gospodu mojemu: Sedi na desnico mojo,

³⁵Until I make thy foes thy footstool.

³⁵dokler ne položim sovražnikov tvojih nogam tvojim za podnožje.“

³⁶Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God hath made the same Jesus, whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ.

³⁶Za gotovo vedi torej vsa hiša Izraelova, da je Bog i za Gospoda i za Kristusa postavil tega Jezusa, ki ste ga vi križali.

³⁷Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do?

³⁷Ko so pa to slišali, jih zbode v srce ter reko Petru in drugim apostolom: Kaj nam je storiti, možje in bratje?

³⁸Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

³⁸Peter jim pa reče: Izpokorite se in naj se krsti vsakdo izmed vas v imenu Jezusa Kristusa v odpuščenje grehov svojih, in prejmete dar svetega Duha.

³⁹For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the LORD our God shall call.

³⁹Kajti za vas velja ta obljuba in za otroke vaše in za vse, ki so še daleč, kolikorkoli jih pokliče Gospod, Bog naš.

⁴⁰And with many other words did he testify and exhort, saying, Save yourselves from this untoward generation.

⁴⁰In z mnogimi drugimi besedami pričuje in jih opominja, rekoč: Rešite se tega popačenega rodu!

⁴¹Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls.

⁴¹Kateri so torej besedo njegovo radi sprejeli, so bili krščeni; in pridružilo se jih je tisti dan kakih tri tisoč duš.

⁴²And they continued stedfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers.

⁴²Bili so pa stanovitni v nauku apostolov in v bratovski zvezi in v lomljenju kruha in v molitvah.

⁴³And fear came upon every soul: and many wonders and signs were done by the apostles.

⁴³Obšel je pa vsako dušo strah; in veliko čudežev in znamenj se je godilo po apostolih.

⁴⁴And all that believed were together, and had all things common;

⁴⁴Vsi pa, ki so bili sprejeli vero, so bili skupaj in vse so imeli skupno;

⁴⁵And sold their possessions and goods, and parted them to all men, as every man had need.

⁴⁵in so prodajali lastnine in imetja ter jih razdeljevali vsem, kakor je kdo potreboval.

⁴⁶And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart,

⁴⁶In vsak dan so bili stanovitno ene misli v templju, in po hišah so lomili kruh in prejemali jed z veseljem in preprostim srcem,hvaleč Boga in imajoč milost pri vsem ljudstvu. Gospod pa jim je prideval vsak dan teh, ki so se zveličevali.

⁴⁷Praising God, and having favour with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved.
