¹And as they spake unto the people, the priests, and the captain of the temple, and the Sadducees, came upon them,

¹Ko sta pa govorila ljudstvu, pristopijo k njima duhovniki in poglavar templja in saduceji,

²Being grieved that they taught the people, and preached through Jesus the resurrection from the dead.

²ki jih je zelo peklo, da učita ljudstvo in oznanjujeta v Jezusu vstajenje iz mrtvih.

³And they laid hands on them, and put them in hold unto the next day: for it was now eventide.

³In polože nanju roke in ju denejo v ječo do jutra; kajti bil je že večer.

⁴Howbeit many of them which heard the word believed; and the number of the men was about five thousand.

⁴Mnogo teh pa, ki so slišali njun govor, je sprejelo vero; in število mož je naraslo na kakih pet tisoč.

⁵And it came to pass on the morrow, that their rulers, and elders, and scribes,

⁵Zgodi se pa drugi dan, da se zbero njih poglavarji in starejšine in pismarji v Jeruzalemu,

⁶And Annas the high priest, and Caiaphas, and John, and Alexander, and as many as were of the kindred of the high priest, were gathered together at Jerusalem.

⁶in Ana, veliki duhovnik, in Kajfa in Janez in Aleksander in kolikor jih je bilo iz višjega duhovskega rodu;

⁷And when they had set them in the midst, they asked, By what power, or by what name, have ye done this?

⁷in ko so ju postavili na sredo, vprašajo: S kakšno močjo ali v čigavem imenu sta vidva to storila?

⁸Then Peter, filled with the Holy Ghost, said unto them, Ye rulers of the people, and elders of Israel,

⁸Tedaj jim Peter, napolnivši se svetega Duha, reče: Poglavarji naroda in starejšine!

⁹If we this day be examined of the good deed done to the impotent man, by what means he is made whole;

⁹Če naju danes izprašujete za dobroto, ki sva jo storila bolnemu človeku, kako je on ozdravel:

¹⁰Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by him doth this man stand here before you whole.

¹⁰znano bodi vsem vam in vsemu ljudstvu Izraelovemu, da po imenu Jezusa Kristusa Nazarečana, ki ste ga vi križali, ki ga pa je Bog obudil iz mrtvih, po njem stoji ta pred vami zdrav.

¹¹This is the stone which was set at nought of you builders, which is become the head of the corner.

¹¹On je kamen, ki ste ga vi zidarji zavrgli, pa je postal glava voglu.

¹²Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

¹²In v nikomer drugem ni zveličanja; zakaj ni ga tudi pod nebom ljudem danega drugega imena, po katerem bi se mi mogli zveličati.

¹³Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were unlearned and ignorant men, they marvelled; and they took knowledge of them, that they had been with Jesus.

¹³Ko pa vidijo srčnost Petrovo in Janezovo in zaznajo, da sta neučena in preprosta človeka, se začudijo; in ju spoznajo, da sta hodila z Jezusom.

¹⁴And beholding the man which was healed standing with them, they could say nothing against it.

¹⁴Videč tudi človeka, ki je ozdravel, da stoji ž njima, niso imeli kaj ugovarjati.

¹⁵But when they had commanded them to go aside out of the council, they conferred among themselves,

¹⁵Velé jima pa, naj gresta ven iz zbora, in se posvetujejo med seboj,

¹⁶Saying, What shall we do to these men? for that indeed a notable miracle hath been done by them is manifest to all them that dwell in Jerusalem; and we cannot deny it.

¹⁶govoreč: Kaj bomo storili tema človekoma? kajti da se je očividen čudež po njiju zgodil, je znano vsem, ki prebivajo v Jeruzalemu, in ne moremo utajiti.

¹⁷But that it spread no further among the people, let us straitly threaten them, that they speak henceforth to no man in this name.

¹⁷Ali da se to ne razglasi dalje med ljudstvom, jima zapretimo, naj nobenemu človeku nikoli več ne govorita o tem imenu.

¹⁸And they called them, and commanded them not to speak at all nor teach in the name of Jesus.

¹⁸In ju pokličejo ter jima zapovedo, naj nikdar več ne zineta in ne učita o imenu Jezusovem.

¹⁹But Peter and John answered and said unto them, Whether it be right in the sight of God to hearken unto you more than unto God, judge ye.

¹⁹A Peter in Janez odgovorita in jim rečeta: Ali je prav pred Bogom, da vas bolj poslušava nego Boga, sodite sami.

²⁰For we cannot but speak the things which we have seen and heard.

²⁰Ne moreva namreč, da ne bi govorila tega, kar sva videla in slišala.

²¹So when they had further threatened them, they let them go, finding nothing how they might punish them, because of the people: for all men glorified God for that which was done.

²¹Oni pa jima še bolj zaprete in ju izpuste, ker niso našli, kako bi ju kaznovali, zavoljo ljudstva, ker so vsi hvalili Boga za to, kar se je zgodilo.

²²For the man was above forty years old, on whom this miracle of healing was shewed.

²²Imel je namreč več nego štirideset let človek, na katerem se je zgodil ta čudež ozdravljenja.

²³And being let go, they went to their own company, and reported all that the chief priests and elders had said unto them.

²³Ko so ju pa izpustili, prideta k svojim in jim sporočita, kar so jima rekli višji duhovniki in starejšine.

²⁴And when they heard that, they lifted up their voice to God with one accord, and said, Lord, thou art God, which hast made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and all that in them is:

²⁴Oni pa, ko so to slišali, povzdignejo ene misli glas k Bogu in reko: O Gospod, ti si Bog, ki si ustvaril nebo in zemljo in morje in vse, kar je v njih;

²⁵Who by the mouth of thy servant David hast said, Why did the heathen rage, and the people imagine vain things?

²⁵ki si rekel po svetem Duhu z usti našega Očeta Davida, hlapca svojega: „Zakaj se togote pogani in ljudstva izmišljajo prazne reči?

²⁶The kings of the earth stood up, and the rulers were gathered together against the Lord, and against his Christ.

²⁶Postavljajo se kralji zemlje in poglavarji se zbirajo zoper Gospoda in zoper Maziljenca njegovega“.

²⁷For of a truth against thy holy child Jesus, whom thou hast anointed, both Herod, and Pontius Pilate, with the Gentiles, and the people of Israel, were gathered together,

²⁷Kajti zbrali so se zares v tem mestu zoper svetega Služabnika tvojega, Jezusa, ki si ga pomazilil, Herod in Poncij Pilat s pogani in ljudstvom Izraelovim,

²⁸For to do whatsoever thy hand and thy counsel determined before to be done.

²⁸da store, kar je naprej določila roka tvoja in sklep tvoj, da naj se zgodi.

²⁹And now, Lord, behold their threatenings: and grant unto thy servants, that with all boldness they may speak thy word,

²⁹In sedaj, Gospod, poglej na njih pretenje in daj hlapcem svojim, da z vso srčnostjo govore besedo tvojo,

³⁰By stretching forth thine hand to heal; and that signs and wonders may be done by the name of thy holy child Jesus.

³⁰s tem, da iztegneš roko svojo na ozdravljanje, in da se znamenja in čudeži gode po imenu svetega Služabnika tvojega, Jezusa.

³¹And when they had prayed, the place was shaken where they were assembled together; and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and they spake the word of God with boldness.

³¹In ko so odmolili, se potrese mesto, ki so v njem bili zbrani, in vsi se napolnijo svetega Duha; in govorili so besedo Božjo srčno.

³²And the multitude of them that believed were of one heart and of one soul: neither said any of them that ought of the things which he possessed was his own; but they had all things common.

³²Množica teh pa, ki so sprejeli vero, je bila enega srca in enega duha; tudi nihče ni govoril, da je kaj njegovega od tega, kar je imel, temuč vse jim je bilo skupno.

³³And with great power gave the apostles witness of the resurrection of the Lord Jesus: and great grace was upon them all.

³³In z veliko močjo so dajali apostoli pričevanje za vstajenje Gospoda Jezusa, in milost velika je bila na vseh njih.

³⁴Neither was there any among them that lacked: for as many as were possessors of lands or houses sold them, and brought the prices of the things that were sold,

³⁴Ni ga bilo namreč ubožca med njimi: kajti koliko jih je bilo, ki so imeli njive ali hiše, ti so jih prodajali, in so prinašali izkupiček tega, kar so prodali,

³⁵And laid them down at the apostles' feet: and distribution was made unto every man according as he had need.

³⁵in pokladali apostolom pred noge: in oddelilo se je vsakemu, kolikor je potreboval.

³⁶And Joses, who by the apostles was surnamed Barnabas, (which is, being interpreted, The son of consolation,) a Levite, and of the country of Cyprus,

³⁶Jožef pa, ki so mu apostoli dali priimek Barnaba (kar se tolmači: Sin tolažbe), levit, s Cipra po rodu,je imel njivo, pa jo je prodal in prinesel denar in ga položil apostolom pred noge.

³⁷Having land, sold it, and brought the money, and laid it at the apostles' feet.
