¹Hear this word that the LORD hath spoken against you, O children of Israel, against the whole family which I brought up from the land of Egypt, saying,

¹Čujte to besedo, ki jo GOSPOD govori zoper vas, sinovi Izraelovi, zoper vso rodovino, ki sem jo peljal gori iz Egipta, ko pravi:

²You only have I known of all the families of the earth: therefore I will punish you for all your iniquities.

²Samo vas sem spoznal izmed vseh rodovin na zemlji; zato bom kaznoval nad vami vse krivice vaše.

³Can two walk together, except they be agreed?

³Moreta li dva skupaj hoditi, ako se ne sporazumeta?

⁴Will a lion roar in the forest, when he hath no prey? will a young lion cry out of his den, if he have taken nothing?

⁴Rjove li lev v gozdu, če nima ropa? Zažene li levič glas svoj iz brloga, ako ni kaj ulovil?

⁵Can a bird fall in a snare upon the earth, where no gin is for him? shall one take up a snare from the earth, and have taken nothing at all?

⁵Zaplete li se mar ptica v mrežo na zemlji, če ji ni nastavljena zanka? Dvigne li se past od zemlje, če se ni nič ujelo?

⁶Shall a trumpet be blown in the city, and the people not be afraid? shall there be evil in a city, and the LORD hath not done it?

⁶Zabuči li trobenta v mestu, in ljudstvo se ne prestraši? Ali se pa v mestu zgodi nesreča, katere bi GOSPOD ne bil napravil?

⁷Surely the Lord GOD will do nothing, but he revealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets.

⁷Kajti Gospod Jehova ne stori ničesar, da bi ne razodel skrivnosti svoje služabnikom svojim, prorokom.

⁸The lion hath roared, who will not fear? the Lord GOD hath spoken, who can but prophesy?

⁸Lev je rjovel, kdo naj bi se ne bal? Gospod Jehova je govoril, kdo naj bi ne prorokoval?

⁹Publish in the palaces at Ashdod, and in the palaces in the land of Egypt, and say, Assemble yourselves upon the mountains of Samaria, and behold the great tumults in the midst thereof, and the oppressed in the midst thereof.

⁹Razglasite nad palačami v Asdodu in nad palačami po deželi Egiptovski in recite: Zberite se na samarijskih gorah in poglejte, kakšna grozna zmešnjava je v Samariji in koliko zatiranja sredi nje!

¹⁰For they know not to do right, saith the LORD, who store up violence and robbery in their palaces.

¹⁰In ne znajo pošteno ravnati, govori GOSPOD, tisti, ki kopičijo, kar so s krivico in silo pridobili, v palačah svojih.

¹¹Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; An adversary there shall be even round about the land; and he shall bring down thy strength from thee, and thy palaces shall be spoiled.

¹¹Zatorej pravi tako Gospod Jehova: Sovražnik bode okoli vse dežele in zvrne moč tvojo s tebe na tla, in oplenjene bodo palače tvoje.

¹²Thus saith the LORD; As the shepherd taketh out of the mouth of the lion two legs, or a piece of an ear; so shall the children of Israel be taken out that dwell in Samaria in the corner of a bed, and in Damascus in a couch.

¹²Tako pravi GOSPOD: Kakor pastir otme levu iz žrela dve krači ali konec ušesa, tako bodo oteti sinovi Izraelovi, ki sedé v Samariji v kotu na blazini ali na damastovi počivalnici.

¹³Hear ye, and testify in the house of Jacob, saith the Lord GOD, the God of hosts,

¹³Poslušajte in izpričajte to zoper hišo Jakobovo, govori Gospod Jehova, Bog nad vojskami:

¹⁴That in the day that I shall visit the transgressions of Israel upon him I will also visit the altars of Bethel: and the horns of the altar shall be cut off, and fall to the ground.

¹⁴tisti dan, kadar bom kaznoval pregrehe Izraelove na njem, obiščem tudi oltarje v Betelu, in odbiti bodo rogovi oltarju, da popadajo na tla.In podrem zimsko hišo s poletno hišo vred, in pokončane bodo hiše slonokoščene, velike hiše izginejo, govori GOSPOD.

¹⁵And I will smite the winter house with the summer house; and the houses of ivory shall perish, and the great houses shall have an end, saith the LORD.
