¹Hear this word, ye kine of Bashan, that are in the mountain of Samaria, which oppress the poor, which crush the needy, which say to their masters, Bring, and let us drink.

¹Čujte to besedo, krave basánske, ki ste na gori Samarije, ki tlačite ubožca, tarete potrebnega in pravite svojim gospodarjem: Prinesi, da pijemo!

²The Lord GOD hath sworn by his holiness, that, lo, the days shall come upon you, that he will take you away with hooks, and your posterity with fishhooks.

²Prisegel je Gospod Jehova pri svetosti svoji: Glejte, pridejo dnevi nad vas, da vas bodo vlekli stran s trnki in ostanek vaš z vodicami.

³And ye shall go out at the breaches, every cow at that which is before her; and ye shall cast them into the palace, saith the LORD.

³In pojdete ven skozi vrzeli, vsaka naravnost predse, in boste pahnjene v Harmon, govori GOSPOD.

⁴Come to Bethel, and transgress; at Gilgal multiply transgression; and bring your sacrifices every morning, and your tithes after three years:

⁴Le hodíte v Betel in se pregrešujte, v Gilgalu množite prestopke! In prinašajte vsako jutro klalne daritve, vsak tretji dan desetine svoje;

⁵And offer a sacrifice of thanksgiving with leaven, and proclaim and publish the free offerings: for this liketh you, O ye children of Israel, saith the Lord GOD.

⁵in zažigajte okvašeno v hvalno daritev ter razglašujte prostovoljne darove in jih oznanjajte! To vam je namreč všeč, o sinovi Izraelovi, govori Gospod Jehova.

⁶And I also have given you cleanness of teeth in all your cities, and want of bread in all your places: yet have ye not returned unto me, saith the LORD.

⁶Saj tudi jaz sem vam dal čiste zobe po vseh mestih vaših in pomanjkanje kruha po vseh krajih vaših, a vendar se niste povrnili prav do mene, govori GOSPOD.

⁷And also I have withholden the rain from you, when there were yet three months to the harvest: and I caused it to rain upon one city, and caused it not to rain upon another city: one piece was rained upon, and the piece whereupon it rained not withered.

⁷In jaz sem vam tudi zadržal dež, ko je bilo še tri mesece do žetve; in na eno mesto sem dal dežiti, na drugo pa ne, ena njiva je bila z dežjem pomočena, njiva pa, ki nanjo ni dežilo, se je posušila;

⁸So two or three cities wandered unto one city, to drink water; but they were not satisfied: yet have ye not returned unto me, saith the LORD.

⁸in iz dveh, treh mest so se opotekali do enega mesta, da bi pili vodo, a niso se odžejali. Vendar se niste povrnili prav do mene, govori GOSPOD.

⁹I have smitten you with blasting and mildew: when your gardens and your vineyards and your fig trees and your olive trees increased, the palmerworm devoured them: yet have ye not returned unto me, saith the LORD.

⁹Udaril sem vas snetjo in strupeno roso, množino vaših vrtov in vinogradov in smokev in oljk so požrle kobilice. Vendar se niste povrnili prav do mene, govori GOSPOD.

¹⁰I have sent among you the pestilence after the manner of Egypt: your young men have I slain with the sword, and have taken away your horses; and I have made the stink of your camps to come up unto your nostrils: yet have ye not returned unto me, saith the LORD.

¹⁰Poslal sem med vas kugo po načinu egiptovskem; mladeniče vaše sem usmrtil z mečem in obenem sem dal odpeljati vaše konje in storil sem, da je smrad iz vaših šatorišč puhtel prav do vaših nosnic. Vendar se niste povrnili prav do mene, govori GOSPOD.

¹¹I have overthrown some of you, as God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah, and ye were as a firebrand plucked out of the burning: yet have ye not returned unto me, saith the LORD.

¹¹Razdejal sem nekatere kraje vaše, kakor je Bog razdejal Sodomo in Gomoro; in bili ste kakor glavnja, potegnjena iz ognja. Vendar se niste povrnili prav do mene, govori GOSPOD.

¹²Therefore thus will I do unto thee, O Israel: and because I will do this unto thee, prepare to meet thy God, O Israel.

¹²Zavoljo tega ti hočem tako storiti, o Izrael; in ker ti to hočem storiti, pripravi se, Izrael, da pojdeš Bogu naproti!Kajti, glej, on, ki upodablja gore in ustvarja veter in oznanja človeku, kakšno je mišljenje njegovo, ki dela iz jutranje zarje temo in stopa po višavah zemeljskih: Jehova, Bog nad vojskami, je ime njegovo.

¹³For, lo, he that formeth the mountains, and createth the wind, and declareth unto man what is his thought, that maketh the morning darkness, and treadeth upon the high places of the earth, The LORD, The God of hosts, is his name.

¹³Kajti, glej, on, ki upodablja gore in ustvarja veter in oznanja človeku, kakšno je mišljenje njegovo, ki dela iz jutranje zarje temo in stopa po višavah zemeljskih: Jehova, Bog nad vojskami, je ime njegovo.
