¹And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins;

¹Tudi vas je oživil, ki ste bili mrtvi po prestopkih in grehih,

²Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience:

²v katerih ste nekdaj hodili po navadi tega sveta, po knezu oblasti v zraku, po duhu, ki deluje zdaj v sinovih nepokorščine;

³Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others.

³med katerimi smo tudi mi vsi nekdaj živeli v poželjivostih mesa svojega ter delali želje mesa in misli, in bili smo po naravi otroci jeze Božje, kakor tudi drugi.

⁴But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us,

⁴Bog pa, bogat v usmiljenju, zaradi velike ljubezni svoje, ki nas je ž njo ljubil,

⁵Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)

⁵nas je, ko smo tudi bili mrtvi po grehih, oživil s Kristusom vred (po milosti ste rešeni)

⁶And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus:

⁶in ž njim vred obudil in posadil v nebesih v Kristusu Jezusu,

⁷That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus.

⁷da pokaže v prihodnjih vekih presilno bogastvo milosti svoje v dobrotljivosti do nas v Kristusu Jezusu.

⁸For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:

⁸Kajti iz milosti ste rešeni po veri, in to ni iz vas, dar Božji je to;

⁹Not of works, lest any man should boast.

⁹ne iz del, da se nihče ne hvali.

¹⁰For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

¹⁰Njegovo namreč smo delo, ustvarjeni v Kristusu Jezusu za dobra dela, ki jih je Bog naprej pripravil, da živimo v njih.

¹¹Wherefore remember, that ye being in time past Gentiles in the flesh, who are called Uncircumcision by that which is called the Circumcision in the flesh made by hands;

¹¹Zatorej pomnite, da ste bili nekdaj vi, pogani v mesu, ki jih imenuje neobrezo tako imenovana obreza, ki pa je le na mesu, z roko storjena,

¹²That at that time ye were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world:

¹²da ste bili v tistem času brez Kristusa, izključeni od meščanstva Izraelovega in tujci zavezam obljube, ne imajoč upanja in brez Boga na svetu.

¹³But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ.

¹³Sedaj pa, v Kristusu Jezusu, ste vi, ki ste bili nekdaj daleč, postavljeni blizu po krvi Kristusovi.

¹⁴For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us;

¹⁴Kajti on je mir naš, ki je naredil iz obojega eno in podrl ločilno pregrajo

¹⁵Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace;

¹⁵s tem, da je v mesu svojem odpravil sovraštvo, postavo zapovedi, obseženo v poveljih, da bi ta dva v sebi ustvaril v enega novega človeka, storivši mir,

¹⁶And that he might reconcile both unto God in one body by the cross, having slain the enmity thereby:

¹⁶in oba v enem telesu z Bogom spravil po križu, umorivši sovraštvo na njem.

¹⁷And came and preached peace to you which were afar off, and to them that were nigh.

¹⁷In je prišel in oznanjal mir vam, ki ste bili daleč, in mir njim, ki so bili blizu;

¹⁸For through him we both have access by one Spirit unto the Father.

¹⁸ker po njem le imamo, oboji v enem Duhu, pristop k Očetu.

¹⁹Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellowcitizens with the saints, and of the household of God;

¹⁹Tako torej niste več tujci in priseljenci, marveč ste someščani svetih in domačini Božji,

²⁰And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone;

²⁰sezidani na temelju apostolov in prorokov, vogelni kamen pa je Jezus Kristus sam,

²¹In whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto an holy temple in the Lord:

²¹v katerem je vse poslopje točno sestavljeno in raste v svet tempelj v Gospodu,v katerem se tudi vi z drugimi vred vzidavate v bivališče Božje v Duhu.

²²In whom ye also are builded together for an habitation of God through the Spirit.
