1O foolish Galatians, who hath bewitched you, that ye should not obey the truth, before whose eyes Jesus Christ hath been evidently set forth, crucified among you?
1O nespametni Galati! kdo vas je očaral? Vam je bil vendar pred očmi opisan Jezus Kristus, na križ razpeti!
2This only would I learn of you, Received ye the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?
2To samo hočem zvedeti od vas: Ste li po delih postave prejeli Duha ali s poslušanjem vere?
3Are ye so foolish? having begun in the Spirit, are ye now made perfect by the flesh?
3Ste li tako nespametni? začenši v Duhu, sedaj v mesu dokončujete?
4Have ye suffered so many things in vain? if it be yet in vain.
4Toliko ste zastonj pretrpeli? če bi le bilo tudi zastonj!
5He therefore that ministereth to you the Spirit, and worketh miracles among you, doeth he it by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?
5On torej, ki vam daje Duha in dela čudeže med vami, dela li to po delih postave ali po poslušanju vere?
6Even as Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness.
6Kakor „je Abraham veroval Bogu, in zaračunilo se mu je za pravičnost“.
7Know ye therefore that they which are of faith, the same are the children of Abraham.
7Spoznajte torej, da so tisti, ki so iz vere, sinovi Abrahamovi.
8And the scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the heathen through faith, preached before the gospel unto Abraham, saying, In thee shall all nations be blessed.
8Ker pa je pismo naprej videlo, da Bog iz vere opravičuje pogane, je naprej oznanilo Abrahamu blagovestje: „V tebi bodo blagoslovljeni vsi narodi“.
9So then they which be of faith are blessed with faithful Abraham.
9Tako so tisti, ki so iz vere, blagoslovljeni z vernim Abrahamom.
10For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse: for it is written, Cursed is every one that continueth not in all things which are written in the book of the law to do them.
10Katerikoli so namreč iz del postave, so pod kletvijo; kajti pisano je: „Proklet vsak, kdor ne ostane v vsem, kar je pisano v knjigi postave, da naj stori“.
11But that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God, it is evident: for, The just shall live by faith.
11Da se pa po postavi nihče ne opraviči pred Bogom, je očitno, zakaj: „Pravični bo iz vere živel“.
12And the law is not of faith: but, The man that doeth them shall live in them.
12A postava ne sloni na veri, temuč: „kdor zapovedi izpolnjuje, bo živel po njih“.
13Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree:
13Kristus nas je odkupil iz kletve postave, ko je postal za nas kletev, kajti pisano je: „Proklet vsak, kdor visi na lesu“:
14That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.
14da pride nad pogane blagoslov Abrahamov v Kristusu Jezusu, da prejmemo obljubo Duha po veri.
15Brethren, I speak after the manner of men; Though it be but a man's covenant, yet if it be confirmed, no man disannulleth, or addeth thereto.
15Bratje, po človeško govorim: Najsi bo le človeška zaveza, vendar, ko je potrjena, je nihče ne zameta ali ji kaj prideva.
16Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises made. He saith not, And to seeds, as of many; but as of one, And to thy seed, which is Christ.
16Abrahamu pa so bile dane obljube in semenu njegovemu. Ne pravi: „In semenom“, kakor da bi jih bilo več, temuč kakor za enega: „In semenu tvojemu“, ki je Kristus.
17And this I say, that the covenant, that was confirmed before of God in Christ, the law, which was four hundred and thirty years after, cannot disannul, that it should make the promise of none effect.
17To pa pravim: Zaveze, ki jo je prej potrdil Bog, štiristo in trideset let pozneje dana postava ne razveljavlja, da se obljuba tako odpravi.
18For if the inheritance be of the law, it is no more of promise: but God gave it to Abraham by promise.
18Kajti če je iz postave dediščina, ni več iz obljube; toda Abrahamu jo je po obljubi milostno podaril Bog.
19Wherefore then serveth the law? It was added because of transgressions, till the seed should come to whom the promise was made; and it was ordained by angels in the hand of a mediator.
19Čemu torej postava? Zavoljo prestopkov se je pridodala, dokler ne pride seme, ki mu je dana obljuba, in je bila urejena po angelih, po roki srednika.
20Now a mediator is not a mediator of one, but God is one.
20Ali srednik ne posreduje pri enem, Bog pa je eden.
21Is the law then against the promises of God? God forbid: for if there had been a law given which could have given life, verily righteousness should have been by the law.
21Je li torej postava zoper obljube Božje? Nikakor ne; kajti ko bi se bila dala postava, ki bi mogla oživiti, zares bi bila iz postave pravičnost.
22But the scripture hath concluded all under sin, that the promise by faith of Jesus Christ might be given to them that believe.
22Toda pismo je vse zaklenilo pod greh, da bi se obljuba na podlagi vere v Jezusa Kristusa dala tem, ki verujejo.
23But before faith came, we were kept under the law, shut up unto the faith which should afterwards be revealed.
23Preden je pa prišla vera, smo bili pod postavo, ki nas je stražila, zaklenjeni za vero, ki se je imela razodeti.
24Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith.
24Tako je bila postava voditeljica naša do Kristusa, da bi bili iz vere opravičeni.
25But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster.
25A ko je vera prišla, nismo več pod voditeljico.
26For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.
26Zakaj vsi ste sinovi Božji po veri, v Kristusu Jezusu.
27For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ.
27Kajti katerikoli ste bili krščeni v Kristusa, ste Kristusa oblekli.
28There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.
28Ni tu Juda, ne Grka, ni tu sužnja, ne svobodnega, ni tu moškega, ne ženske: zakaj vi vsi ste eden v Kristusu Jezusu.Če ste pa Kristusovi, potem ste Abrahamovo seme, in po obljubi dediči.
29And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise.
