¹When I would have healed Israel, then the iniquity of Ephraim was discovered, and the wickedness of Samaria: for they commit falsehood; and the thief cometh in, and the troop of robbers spoileth without.

¹Kadar hočem zdraviti Izraela, se pokaže krivičnost Efraimova in zlobnost Samarije; kajti le laž uganjajo in tat prodira v hišo, zunaj ropa truma razbojnikov.

²And they consider not in their hearts that I remember all their wickedness: now their own doings have beset them about; they are before my face.

²In ne reko si v srcu, da se spominjam vse njih zlobnosti; sedaj so jih že obdala njih dejanja, pred mojim so obličjem.

³They make the king glad with their wickedness, and the princes with their lies.

³S hudobo svojo razveseljujejo kralja in kneze z lažmi svojimi.

⁴They are all adulterers, as an oven heated by the baker, who ceaseth from raising after he hath kneaded the dough, until it be leavened.

⁴Vsi so prešeštniki, podobni peči, ki jo je pek razbelil: on neha kuriti, ko je umesil testo, dokler se ne prekvasi.

⁵In the day of our king the princes have made him sick with bottles of wine; he stretched out his hand with scorners.

⁵V dan našega kralja so oboleli poglavarji od vinske vročine; on je podal svojo roko zasmehovalcem.

⁶For they have made ready their heart like an oven, whiles they lie in wait: their baker sleepeth all the night; in the morning it burneth as a flaming fire.

⁶Kajti pripravili so srce svoje kakor peč, ko kujejo zvijačo; njih pek spi vso noč, zjutraj gori peč kakor plameneč ogenj.

⁷They are all hot as an oven, and have devoured their judges; all their kings are fallen: there is none among them that calleth unto me.

⁷Vsi so razbeljeni kakor peč in požirajo sodnike svoje. Vsi njih kralji so padli; nihče izmed njih me ne kliče.

⁸Ephraim, he hath mixed himself among the people; Ephraim is a cake not turned.

⁸Efraim se meša z ljudstvi; Efraim je kakor podpepelni kolač, ki ni bil obrnjen.

⁹Strangers have devoured his strength, and he knoweth it not: yea, gray hairs are here and there upon him, yet he knoweth not.

⁹Tujci so použili moč njegovo, on pa tega ne ve; tudi se mu je sivina po glavi razlezla, pa tega ne ve.

¹⁰And the pride of Israel testifieth to his face: and they do not return to the LORD their God, nor seek him for all this.

¹⁰In ošabnost Izraela mu priča v oči; a nočejo se vrniti h GOSPODU, svojemu Bogu, ne ga iskati kljub vsemu temu.

¹¹Ephraim also is like a silly dove without heart: they call to Egypt, they go to Assyria.

¹¹In Efraim je kakor preprost golob, brez razuma: kličejo na pomoč Egipt, gredo v Asirijo.

¹²When they shall go, I will spread my net upon them; I will bring them down as the fowls of the heaven; I will chastise them, as their congregation hath heard.

¹²Kadar pojdejo, razgrnem čeznje mrežo svojo, kakor ptice nebeške jih potegnem doli; kaznoval jih bom tako, kakor se je oznanjalo njih občini.

¹³Woe unto them! for they have fled from me: destruction unto them! because they have transgressed against me: though I have redeemed them, yet they have spoken lies against me.

¹³Gorje jim! ker so zašli od mene; poguba nadnje! ker so se pregrešili zoper mene. Jaz bi jih rad odkupil, pa oni govore laži zoper mene.

¹⁴And they have not cried unto me with their heart, when they howled upon their beds: they assemble themselves for corn and wine, and they rebel against me.

¹⁴In ne kličejo k meni v svojem srcu, temuč tulijo na ležiščih svojih; zbirajo se zavoljo žita in vina, uporno se stavijo zoper mene.

¹⁵Though I have bound and strengthened their arms, yet do they imagine mischief against me.

¹⁵In jaz sem vadil njih roke in krepčal, a oni izmišljajo hudo zoper mene.Obračajo se, pa ne gori: so kakor lok, ki strelja napačno. Njih poglavarji padejo zavoljo srditosti svojega jezika: to jim bode v zasmehovanje v deželi Egiptovski.

¹⁶They return, but not to the most High: they are like a deceitful bow: their princes shall fall by the sword for the rage of their tongue: this shall be their derision in the land of Egypt.

¹⁶Obračajo se, pa ne gori: so kakor lok, ki strelja napačno. Njih poglavarji padejo zavoljo srditosti svojega jezika: to jim bode v zasmehovanje v deželi Egiptovski.
