¹Come, and let us return unto the LORD: for he hath torn, and he will heal us; he hath smitten, and he will bind us up.

¹Pridite in povrnimo se h GOSPODU! Kajti on nas je raztrgal in nas tudi ozdravi, on nas je udaril in nas tudi obveže.

²After two days will he revive us: in the third day he will raise us up, and we shall live in his sight.

²Oživi nas po dveh dneh, tretji dan nas vzdigne, da bomo živeli pred njegovim obličjem.

³Then shall we know, if we follow on to know the LORD: his going forth is prepared as the morning; and he shall come unto us as the rain, as the latter and former rain unto the earth.

³In spoznavajmo GOSPODA, prizadevajmo si ga spoznati! Njegov izhod je gotov kakor jutranji svit, in pride nam kakor deževje, kakor pozni dež, ki vlaži zemljo.

⁴O Ephraim, what shall I do unto thee? O Judah, what shall I do unto thee? for your goodness is as a morning cloud, and as the early dew it goeth away.

⁴Kaj naj ti storim, o Efraim? kaj naj ti storim, o Juda? kajti vaše bogoljubje je kakor jutranji oblak in kakor rosa, ki hitro izgine.

⁵Therefore have I hewed them by the prophets; I have slain them by the words of my mouth: and thy judgments are as the light that goeth forth.

⁵Zato sem jih obtesaval po prorokih, ubijal sem jih z ust svojih besedami; in sodba moja vzhaja kakor luč.

⁶For I desired mercy, and not sacrifice; and the knowledge of God more than burnt offerings.

⁶Kajti usmiljenja želim in ne daritve in spoznanja Božjega več nego žgalnih žrtev.

⁷But they like men have transgressed the covenant: there have they dealt treacherously against me.

⁷Oni pa so kakor Adam prestopili zavezo, ondi so se mi izneverili.

⁹And as troops of robbers wait for a man, so the company of priests murder in the way by consent: for they commit lewdness.

⁹In kakor razbojnik preži ob cesti, tako družba duhovnikov: moré na potu v Sihem, da nesramnosti počenjajo.

¹⁰I have seen an horrible thing in the house of Israel: there is the whoredom of Ephraim, Israel is defiled.

¹⁰V hiši Izraelovi sem videl strahovito reč: tam je nečistovanje Efraimovo, Izrael oskrunjen.Tudi tebi, o Juda, je pripravljena žetev, ko nazaj popeljem ujetništvo ljudstva svojega.
