¹But now thus saith the LORD that created thee, O Jacob, and he that formed thee, O Israel, Fear not: for I have redeemed thee, I have called thee by thy name; thou art mine.

¹Sedaj pa pravi tako GOSPOD, ki te je ustvaril, Jakob, in ki te je upodobil, Izrael: Ne boj se! kajti odkupil sem te, poklical sem te po imenu tvojem; ti si moj!

²When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee.

²Ko pojdeš skozi vode, bodem pri tebi, in preko rek, te ne poplavijo; ko pojdeš skozi ogenj, ne zgoriš in plamen te ne zapali.

³For I am the LORD thy God, the Holy One of Israel, thy Saviour: I gave Egypt for thy ransom, Ethiopia and Seba for thee.

³Zakaj jaz sem GOSPOD, tvoj Bog, Svetnik Izraelov, rešitelj tvoj; v odkup tvoj sem dal Egipt, Etiopijo in Sebo zate.

⁴Since thou wast precious in my sight, thou hast been honourable, and I have loved thee: therefore will I give men for thee, and people for thy life.

⁴Zato ker si drag v mojih očeh in čislan in ker te ljubim, hočem dati ljudi zate in narode za življenje tvoje.

⁵Fear not: for I am with thee: I will bring thy seed from the east, and gather thee from the west;

⁵Ne boj se, ker jaz sem s teboj. Od vzhoda privedem nazaj seme tvoje in zberem te od zahoda.

⁶I will say to the north, Give up; and to the south, Keep not back: bring my sons from far, and my daughters from the ends of the earth;

⁶Severu zapovem: Daj nazaj! in poldnevu: Ne pridržuj, privedi sinove moje iz daljave in hčere moje od kraja zemlje,

⁷Even every one that is called by my name: for I have created him for my glory, I have formed him; yea, I have made him.

⁷vsakega, ki se imenuje po imenu mojem, ki sem ga ustvaril v slavo svojo, ki sem ga upodobil in naredil!

⁸Bring forth the blind people that have eyes, and the deaf that have ears.

⁸Izpelji ljudstvo slepo, ki ima oči, in glušce, ki imajo ušesa!

⁹Let all the nations be gathered together, and let the people be assembled: who among them can declare this, and shew us former things? let them bring forth their witnesses, that they may be justified: or let them hear, and say, It is truth.

⁹Vsi narodi naj se zbero in ljudstva naj se snidejo! Kdo med njimi more napovedati to? ali prejšnje reči naj nam oznanijo! postavijo naj priče svoje, da se opravičijo, da se bo slišalo in reklo: Res je.

¹⁰Ye are my witnesses, saith the LORD, and my servant whom I have chosen: that ye may know and believe me, and understand that I am he: before me there was no God formed, neither shall there be after me.

¹⁰Vi ste priče moje, govori GOSPOD, in hlapec moj, ki sem ga izvolil: da bi spoznali in verovali meni in umeli, da sem jaz večno isti. Pred menoj ni bil upodobljen Bog mogočni in ne bode ga za menoj.

¹¹I, even I, am the LORD; and beside me there is no saviour.

¹¹Jaz, jaz sem GOSPOD, in ni ga razen mene rešitelja.

¹²I have declared, and have saved, and I have shewed, when there was no strange god among you: therefore ye are my witnesses, saith the LORD, that I am God.

¹²Jaz sem napovedoval in reševal in oznanjal, ne pa tuj bog med vami; in vi ste mi priče, govori GOSPOD, da sem jaz Bog mogočni.

¹³Yea, before the day was I am he; and there is none that can deliver out of my hand: I will work, and who shall let it?

¹³Tudi od tega dne bodem večno isti, in ni ga, ki bi rešil iz roke moje. Delam, in kdo more zabraniti?

¹⁴Thus saith the LORD, your redeemer, the Holy One of Israel; For your sake I have sent to Babylon, and have brought down all their nobles, and the Chaldeans, whose cry is in the ships.

¹⁴Tako pravi GOSPOD, odrešenik vaš, Svetnik Izraelov: Zaradi vas sem poslal v Babilon, in hočem jih vse kakor ubežnike gnati doli, tudi Kaldejce na ladjah, katerih so se veselili.

¹⁵I am the LORD, your Holy One, the creator of Israel, your King.

¹⁵Jaz, GOSPOD, sem Svetnik vaš, stvarnik Izraelov, kralj vaš.

¹⁶Thus saith the LORD, which maketh a way in the sea, and a path in the mighty waters;

¹⁶Tako pravi GOSPOD, ki dela pot po morju in stezo po silnih vodah,

¹⁷Which bringeth forth the chariot and horse, the army and the power; they shall lie down together, they shall not rise: they are extinct, they are quenched as tow.

¹⁷ki izpeljava vozove in konje, krdela in moč – vkup bodo ležali, ne vstanejo več, izdahnejo, ugasnejo kakor predivo:

¹⁸Remember ye not the former things, neither consider the things of old.

¹⁸Ne spominjajte se prejšnjih reči in ne pečajte se za stare!

¹⁹Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert.

¹⁹Glej, jaz storim novo stvar: zdajci že klije, ali bi je ne spoznali? Da, v puščavi naredim pot in reke v samoti.

²⁰The beast of the field shall honour me, the dragons and the owls: because I give waters in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert, to give drink to my people, my chosen.

²⁰Častila me bo žival poljska, šakali in noji, ker dam v puščavo vode, reke v samoto, da bodo v pijačo mojemu ljudstvu, izvoljenemu mojemu.

²¹This people have I formed for myself; they shall shew forth my praise.

²¹To ljudstvo, ki sem si ga izobrazil, bo pripovedovalo hvalo mojo. –

²²But thou hast not called upon me, O Jacob; but thou hast been weary of me, O Israel.

²²Kajti mene nisi klical, o Jakob, da bi se bil utrudil zame, o Izrael!

²³Thou hast not brought me the small cattle of thy burnt offerings; neither hast thou honoured me with thy sacrifices. I have not caused thee to serve with an offering, nor wearied thee with incense.

²³Nisi mi prinašal drobnice žgalnih darov svojih in z žrtvami svojimi me nisi častil. Nisem te tlačil, da mi služiš z jedilnim darom, in nisem ti prizadeval truda s kadilom;

²⁴Thou hast bought me no sweet cane with money, neither hast thou filled me with the fat of thy sacrifices: but thou hast made me to serve with thy sins, thou hast wearied me with thine iniquities.

²⁴nisi mi kupil z denarjem trsta dišečega in s tolščo žrtev svojih me nisi krepčal. Ali hlapčevsko delo si mi storil z grehi svojimi, utrudil si me s krivicami svojimi.

²⁵I, even I, am he that blotteth out thy transgressions for mine own sake, and will not remember thy sins.

²⁵Jaz, jaz sam izbrisujem prestopke tvoje zaradi sebe, in grehov tvojih se ne spominjam več.

²⁶Put me in remembrance: let us plead together: declare thou, that thou mayest be justified.

²⁶Opomni me, pravdajva se skupaj, razloži vendar svoje, da se opravičiš!

²⁷Thy first father hath sinned, and thy teachers have transgressed against me.

²⁷Tvoj prvi oče je grešil, in sredniki tvoji so se mi izneverili.Zato sem onečastil poglavarje svetišča in prokletstvu izročil Jakoba in Izraela zasramovanju.

²⁸Therefore I have profaned the princes of the sanctuary, and have given Jacob to the curse, and Israel to reproaches.
